Dengue virus is the causes of
dengue fever. It is a mosquito
brone, single +ve standed RNA
virus.

8. TRANSMISSION
•Dengue is transmitted by several species of
mosquitoes within the genus Aedes,principally
Aaegypti.
•Dengu virus is primarily transmitted by Aedes
mosquitoes, particularly A.aegypti.
•These mosquitoes live between the latitudes of
35°North and 35°South below an elevation of 1000
meters (3300 ft).They bite primarily during the day.

A.albopictus, A.polynesiensis and A.sutellaris.
Humans are the primary host of the virus.
An infection can be acquired via single bite.
A female mosquito that take a blood meal from person
infected with dengue fever becomes itself infected with
the virus in the cell lining its gut.
About 8-10 days later,the virus spread to other tissue
including The mosquito salivary gland and is
subsequently released in saliva.

12. SYMPTOMS
•Mild symptoms of dengue can be confused with
other illnesses that cause fever, aches and
pains, or a rash.
•Common symptoms of dengue are fever with
•Nausea, vomiting
•Rash
•Aches and pains( eye pain, typically behind the
eyes, muscles, joint, or a bone pain)

•here is no specific medication to treat dengue.
•While recovering from dengue fever, watch for
signs and symptoms dehydration. Call your
doctor right away if develop any of the
following
• Decreased urination
• Few or no tears
• Dry mouth and lips
• Lethargy or confusion
17. •Acetaminophen (Tylenol, other)can alleviate
pain and reduce fever. Avoid pain relievers that
can increase bleeding complications-such as
aspirin,ibuprofen (Advil,Motrin IB,other) and
naproxen sodium (Aleve,other).
•If you have severe dengue fever, you may need:
• Supportive care in a hospital
• Intravenous (IV)fluid and electrolyte replacement
• Blood pressure monitoring
• Transfusion to replace blood loss
