A Look At The Different Learning Styles

Not all students are the same. Not all teachers are the
same, either. When it comes to teaching, the one-
strategy-fits-all approach doesn’t apply. The best
teachers have always been able to adapt to their
learners and the different circumstances surrounding
each of them.
For educators, it’s very important to know the different
learning styles of their students. Take for example
visual learners, who very much prefer seeing the things
they learn. Visual learners absorb information be er
when they look at pictures or graphs or diagrams. They
learn be er when directions are wri en out for them.
Visual learners are also known to be very organized.
Auditory learners are those who learn the most
through listening and speaking. The best approach for
them is discussion since they love to talk. They excel at
oral reports, and they’re the ones to call if the text
needs to be read out loud.
Similar to visual learners, the reading learners (also
referred to as writing learners) have a difficult time
with merely hearing instructions. They need it to be
wri en down. Reading learners prefer to read
textbooks and handouts rather than discussing them.
They also love to take down notes and write reports.
Kinesthetic learners are learners who learn through
movement. They excel at practical activities and hands-
on exams. These learners also prefer to play games and
create dynamic projects for lessons. Many of these
learners join theater groups or sports teams.
