2. Research
• A systematized effort to gain new knowledge.
• Or
• It can be defined as the systematic investigation,
with and open mind, to solve new or existing
problems, prove new ideas or develop new
theories.
3. Research process
It consists of following steps.
Define

Formulate

4. Define research problem
• First of all the research problem should be find out which
the researcher want to solve.
• It can be solved by discussing it with colleagues.
• Take help from that person solving similar problems.
5. 2. Literature review
• Here a researcher see that either this problem is
previously discussed or not.
• If it is discussed then how can I make it different from
them.
• A brief summary of it should be written down while
submitting the research to the authorized committee.
6. 3. Formulate hypothesis
• Hypothesis is tentative assumption made in order to
draw out and testing logical consequence.
• Hypothesis should be very specific and limited to the
piece of research in hand because it has to be tested.
• The hypothesis keep the researcher on right track.
7. 4.Research design
• The purpose of the research design is to provide
relevant evidence with minimal expenditure of effort, time
and money.
• Things should be considered are;
• Cost of research
• Time
• Skills available
8. 5. Data collection
Primary data
• Which is collected by the
researcher himself.
• Examples
• Observation
• Personal interview
• Telephonic interview
Secondary data
• Which is collected by
other sources.
• Examples
• Books
• Library
• Internet
• etc
9. 6. Data analysis
• After collecting the data it should be analyzed so that it
becomes more useful in research.
• It can be done by:
• Editing
• Coding
• Tabulation
• etc.
10. 7. Report
• Finally the researcher has to prepare the report of what
has been done by him.
• Writing the report must be done with great care keeping
in mind the following points:
• The preliminary page.
• The main text
• The end matter
11. Thomas Edison
