This document provides an overview of cell structure, describing the key differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells include bacteria and archaea and have a simpler structure compared to eukaryotic cells, containing a cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, and various organelles like plasmids, ribosomes, and flagella. Eukaryotic cells are much larger and more complex, containing membrane-bound organelles such as a nucleus, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, and cytoskeleton. Examples and images are provided of the various structures within prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
