making a roof to their home, which was lifted by heavy storms, in July 2018. In 3
days time the work was completed and the two kids learning in class 4 and 5 [Vaigari

We arranged electricity connection to their house by spending Rs. 12500-00, as the

17. CHILDREN’S ARMY SERVICE : In order to develop
the reading habit among school going children and
also to widen the horizon of reading
level and knowledge, a special project was
implemented under the name ‘aksharalaksham’ by
Akhila Kerala Balajana Sakhyam of Malayala
Manorama, in association with M/s. Centre for
Creative Excellence. The primary purpose of the
project is to encourage reading habit and learning
English among the students from the Pre primaryto
upper Primary level school students in Kerala.
English books, printed by the internationally
popular publishers : Disney books, were distributed
to school. ‘First Books’, the well known Non Govtl.
Organisation, functioning in America, is
sponsoring the project. Kendriya Vidyalaya
Kanjikode was selected for this and we got books
worth Rs. 45000-00 in 2018.

23. CHILDREN’S ARMY CHARITY SERVICE:14:VISIT TO Jyothinilayam : As the 32nd ‘Santhvanam’ project
of the "Nallapadam" club of Kendriya Vidyalaya Kanjikode, one day visit was conducted to Jyothinilayam
School and hostel for Mentally Challenged at Muttikulangara, Olavakode on 15th February, 2019 which
became a very different experience to our students. A team of 48 members under the leadership of the
Principal Smt. K Rajeswari entertained the 98 inmates of the school with music, dance, variety
entertainments, games and competitions and made the day unforgettable. That was an opportunity for
our kids to learn about the less privileged students of the society. Our children easily got mixed and
mingled with them and encouraged them a lot by handing over hundreds of gifts collected from our
school. Our team was received by the Principal Sister Helen Maria, Sister Ann Theresa and all the
inmates.
An amount of Rs. 10001-00 raised from the school along with various study materials were handed over
to them by the Principal.
Under the leadership of the Music teacher Sri. Narayanan a team of students presented musical
entertainments with the help of various instruments. The inmates also joined with our students and
sung songs.
The programme was organised by the coordinators of the Nallapadam club: A Abdul Shumz and Smt.
Suma VP. Lot of prizes were handed over to those winners in the competitions like breaking the balloon,
musical chair etc.
