7th April World Health Day 2016 celebration
Diabetes Mellitus Screening At Urban Health Training Centre
On this occasion, screening was carried out by random blood sugar measurement with the help of Glucometer
at the UHTC OPD. A total of 94 beneficiaries were screened for Diabetes Mellitus. Out of these, 13
beneficiaries had blood sugar level above 200, 8 had blood sugar level between 140-200 and 73 beneficiaries
had blood sugar level below 140 mg/dl. Those beneficiaries having blood sugar level above 140 have been
called back for follow up on 11th April 2016 wherein FBS and PP2BS would be done. They will then be started
on anti diabetics as per their reports.
An IEC leaflet was prepared by the Department of Community Medicine for awareness among the community.
These were distributed among the people passing by the UHTC, in the vegetable market, MG road and
surrounding areas of the UHTC. Many beneficiaries came for screening of Diabetes due to the demand
generation activity carried out by us in the surrounding areas.

Elimination round: This Overwhelming response of MBBS students was seen for registration for elimination
round of diabetes quiz. Round was held on 5th
April, 2016 in lecture hall.
Main quiz contest: This competition was held at college auditorium in presence of around 380 students and
faculty members. Dr. Nisha lalwani (Assistant professor, Medicine) was given responsibility of quiz master who
executed the contest meticulously.

Orientation Workshop On Quality In Healthcare Services
Indian Medical Association,Gujarat State Branch along with Department of Health and
Family Welfare had organized Orientation Workshop On Quality In Healthcare Services hosted
by Sir t Hospital, Government Medical College, Bhavnagar and Bhavnagar Medical Association
(IMA-Bhavnagar) on 4th September 2016-09-04. This is first public private (Government - IMA)
workshop for quality improvement in India
Total Registration for the workshop was 550 from state of Gujarat and also from some
part of maharastra, Target audience was all stakeholder needed to impart quality in heath care
services.
In starting of program Dr Kairavi Joshi, Vice President, IMA Bhavnagar invited all the
dignitaries on the dias followed by welcome of all by “Khadi Rumal”, followed by lightning of
lamp, Process was facilitated by Dr Ankur Zalawadia
Dean Dr Vikas Sinha, welcomed all speakers namely Dr J L Meena,Gandhinagar, Air
Marshal Dr Pawan Kapoor, Dr K K Kalra, CEO, NABH and Dr J N shrivastav, Adviser, QI, NHSRC
and State Vice President Dr G L Patel, IMA GSB State Secretary, Dr J N Patel, PPS Director, Dr
Bipinbhai Patel. State Vice President Dr G L Patel, IMA GSB State Secretary, Dr J N Patel
emphasized on IMA Hospital Board and informed all regarding Baroda Chapter of Hospital
Board of India, which will help IMA Members for Accreditation. PPS Director, Dr Bipinbhai
Patel had thrown light of value of team work in routine healthcare practice as well as quality
improvement and encouraged nursing staff and paramedical staff for their work at health care

On this occasion dignitaries release “IMA – Kayakalp” guideline for improvement in
cleanliness, infection control, biomedical waste management and hygiene. This will be used
for scoring interested health care organization
After inauguration, Dr Maulik Parikh, Secretary, IMA invited Dr J L Meena, SQAMO,
Gujarat has given insight in to Gujarat scenario of quality in healthcare and also shared his
experience of how change in quality can improve patient care
Air Marshal Dr Pawan Kapoor has explained regarding need of quality in very lucid
manner and explained us how poor quality is affeting life of patient coming to healthcare
facility. Dr K K Kalra, CEO, NABH elaborated on different types of NABH accreditation as well as
different standards, criteria and check point need to be checked during process of
accreditation. Dr Chinmay Shah, President IMA explained details of IMA Kayaklp Guideline,
score pattern and steps for participating in IMA Kayaklp award. Dr J N Shrivastav, Advisor, QI,
NHSRC explained regarding National Qulaity Assurance Standard and also given invitation to all
IMA Members to come forward for process of accreditation
