1. Donation of Vital sign Monitor worth
LKR 518,000 to National Cancer Institute
Maharagama
Rotary Club of Capital City donated a Vital sign
Monitor worth LKR 518,000.00 to the pediatric
ward of National Cancer Institute Maharagama.
RC of Capital City received funds from Mr.
Nobert Wijerama in memory of Late Mrs. Hema
Wijerama. Snr. Consultant Dr. Damayanthi Pieris
and Director Community Service Dr. Sanjiv
Rajapaksha along with Capital City members and
Officials of DIMO were present at the ceremony.
This project was made possible thanks to Renu

2. Joint International service project with
Sister Clubs in India,
Rotary Club of Capital City introduced,
Ellen Meadows Prosthetic Hand
Foundation USA to RC of Solapur North
of RID 3132 and RC of Guna of RID 3050
with the assistance of RC of Peenya
Bangalore RID 3190.
The project was initiated and coordinated
by our International services Director Rtn.
PP Dilu Rodrigo.
Project Value – Rs. 500,000/-
3. Donation of LKR 100,000 for Poverty
Alleviation
RC of Capital City donated LKR. 100,000/-
to Professionals and Business Persons
Association of Sacred Heart Church,
Rajagiriya.
4. Donation and fixing of LN 4 arms
(a) Donation and fixing of LN 4 arm to
Mr. S.A Dinal Chandima Subasingha of
Moratuwa through Colombo Friends in
Need Society. Date 30th August, 2013
(b) A Prosthetic Limb was donated and
fixed to Mr. Sunil Jayantha through
Colombo Friends in Need Society. The
Amputee was nominated by RC of
Battaramulla. – 22nd August, 2013
5. AIDEX 2013 SPORTS MEET
Rotary Club of Capital City participated
in AIDEX 2013 sports meet organized by
“Colombo Friends in need society”,
which took place on 13th October, 2013.
There were 400 differently abele men &
women who took part and most of them
were wearing Jaipur prosthetic limbs
donated through RC of Capital City .
6. RECOGNITION OF VOLUNTEERS
Recognition of Mr. Pradeep Jayamal, Mr.
Ranjan Suranga, two teachers who have
contributed services on a voluntary basis
to the IT & English Centers situated in the
Holy Rosary Church, Welikanna Waga &
Lama Gramaya, Niripola, Hanwella during
the Vocational Service month in October
2013.
7. INSTALLATION OF AIR CONDITIONERS
AT LAMA GRAMAYA, NIRIPOLA
Lama Gramaya, Niripola, (STG 500/-
donation received from UK, to install an
air conditioner in the Computer Centre.
Fr. Chrispin was given 2 air conditioners
free from Singer, three air conditioners
were accordingly installed.
8. EDUCATION PROJECT IN KAYTS,
VELANI, MULANKAVIL, NACHCIKUDA
The donation and distribution of 3718
education packs to school students in
Kayts, Velani, Mulankavil and
Nachchikuda through the funds received
from Clifford Chance Foundation UK.
Rotary Club of Nallur provided logistical
support to carry out this project.

Project Cost GBP 4700.00 (Rs. 972,000/-),
Dates 7th – 9th November 2013.
Project value Rs. 1.6 Million
9. DONATION OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT.
Handing over of medical equipment
worth LKR 275,000 to the Pediatric ward
of Cancer Hospital, Maharagama on 28th
November. The donors were Mrs. Nimali
Perera, Mrs. Eranka Warnalusuriya. Dr.
Damayanthi Pieris receiving the said
equipment.
10. 2nd Phase of the Jaipur Foot Limbs
Project.
Official Launch of the 2nd Phase of the
Jaipur Foot Limbs (300 Limbs) took place
on 26th of November at CFINS premises.
DG Imran, Officials of Rotary Club of
Bombay Sea Coast, Bombay Airport and
members of Rotary Club of Capital City
were present at the ceremony.
Value Rs. 1,800,000/-
11. Donation of a hearing aid
On 23rd November, RC of Capital City
donated a hearing Aid to a patient at
“Sarana Home”. The Hearing Aid was
supplied by Rotary Club of Kandy.
12. Donation of Emergency Trauma Kits
Rotary Club of Capital City donated
Emergency Trauma Kits to
Sri Lanka Coast Guard,
Sri Lanka Navy,
Sri Lanka Air force,
Fire Brigade,
STF,
Life Saving Association,
Medical College,
Each Trauma Kit is valued at USD 3,300/-
Project was completed on 5th December.
Project Value USD 26,400 (Rs. 3,432,000/)
13. Kilinochchi Rugby Fiesta
Kilinochchi Rugby Fiesta 3rd December
2013 – Rotary Club of Capital City have
sponsored the coach fee up to a period of
1 year, from which 300+ students in
Kilinochchi area belonging to 9 schools
will benefit.
Project Value LKR 120,000. The Club
distributed sweets worth LKR 16,000 to
the kids.
14. Jaffna Education project
Rotary Club of Capital City donated 109
education packs for the students of
Nadeswara College, Kankasanthurai. The
value of the project is, LKR 29,130.00
Rotary Club of Nallur did the handing
over of the education packs on behalf of
our Club. This was carried out on 07th
January, 2014
15. Mobile Prosthetics Camp – Minneriya
Mobile Prosthetic Limbs/Hands Project,
Minneriya carried out by Colombo Friend
in Need Society from 21st to 24th February
2014
The project was coordinated by the
Rotary Club of Capital City and supported
by the Ayurveda Base Hospital in
Minneriya to give a hope to more than 90
amputees in Minneriya, Polonnaruwa and
neighbouring areas.
The Jaipur limbs and LN-4 functional
hands were donated to the amputees
through the sponsorships received from
the RI District 3140, India: Rotary Club of
Bombay Seacoast, Rotary Club of
Bombay Airport, Rotary Club of Nariman
Point AND Ellen Meadows Prosthetic
Hand Foundation, USA.
Value of the project – Rs. 800,000/-
16. Donation of furniture to Colombo
Friend in Need Society
Donation of used compressor, office
chairs, and two cupboards to the
Colombo Friend in Need Society by the
Club.
Value of the said equipment
approximately 100,000/-
17. Donation for the Kiula Village’s
Kiyawana Gunaya social initiate
A compressor was donated by the Club to
Mr. Renton De Alwis for the Kiula Village’s
Kiyawana Gunaya social initiate.
Value – Rs. 75,000/-
18. Prosthetics Mobile Project – Mullaitvu
From 19th to 22nd March 2014 a
prosthetics mobile workshop was
organized in Mullaitivu together with
Colombo Friend in Need Society. Rotary
Clubs in Malaysia and Federations of
Malaysians Sri Lankans Organisations
donated US$ 5000/- towards this project.
54 patients were seen at the said mobile
camp and 50 patients were fitted with
prosthetics.
Project Cost – Rs. 660,000/-
19. Around the Pearl
Participated with the Around the Pearl
project to raise funds towards purchasing
1000 wheelchairs for cerebral palsy
patients.
12 riders cycled around the country in 9
days approximately 1400 kms.
The Club donated Rs. 25,000/- towards
the said project.
20. International Service.
(a) Joint Meeting with the Rotary Club of
Bombay Seacoast with the Interactors,
Teacher in-charge and PP Fr. Chrispin in
charge of the students of St. Peter's
College.

PP Kothari handing over a copy of his
book on Himalayan wildlife. He visited us
here.
(b) Joint Meeting held between Capital City and Bombay Airport, in India.
(c) Exchanging of Pennants with RC of Solapur North.
21. Education Project – Kalpitiya and
Andigama
On 13th June 2014 Rotary Club of Capital
City together with Citi Bank carried out a
Community Service Project to donate
education material to 2737 students in 6
schools in Kandakuliya and Andigama.
Namely,
1. Andigama Navodya Vidyalaya
2. Andigama Primary School
3. Primary School Serukelle
4. Kandakuliya Muslim School
5. St. Sebastian Sinhala School
6. Mune Sinhala School
This was done with the collaboration and
funding of Citi Bank, Sri Lanka, Club funds
and donations by other well wishers.
Rotaract Club of IIHE also participated
towards packing the Education packs.
Over Rs. 600,000/- was donated by Citi Bank
and further donations from well-wishers was
received as well. Rotary Club of Capital City
also provided funding towards this project.
Total Cost of the Project approximately Rs.
900,000/-
Value of the items distributed approximately
Rs. 1,400,000/-
22. Fourth Avenue of Service
– PP Dilu Rodgrio
1. Organizing together with PP Rtn Fr.
Chrispin Leo, PHF, Director Vocational
Service to take the Interactors of St. Peter’s
College, Colombo 4, to take part in an
Educational RYLA from 18th to 26th
September 2013, Mumbai, India.
2. The RYLA was held from September 22-
23, 2013 at Palghar, Kelve & Boisar, Mumbai,
with the participation of 100 students from 4
schools in Mumbai and three Rotary Clubs
jointly.
3. Attending a joint meeting of the Rotary
Club of Bombay Seacoast, Mumbai together
with PP Rtn Fr. Chrispin Leo, PHF,
Interactors & Ms. Shanthi Liyanage, on
Thursday 19th September 2013.
4. Visiting Maswan Tribal School in Mumbai
and attending a joint meeting of the Rotary
Club of Bombay Airport, together with PP
Rtn Fr. Chrispin Leo, PHF, Interactors & Ms.
Shanthi Liyanage, on Sunday 22nd
September 2013. (SLR 1M)
5. Donation of LN-4 Prosthetic Arms to the
Rotary Clubs of Bombay Seacoast &
Bombay Airport for distribution to the needy
Value for the above Project SLR 1M
6. Organising of Guest Speaker, PP Rtn
Ashok Kothai, of the Rotary Club of Bombay
Seacoast, RI D-3140, Mumbai, India for
Tuesday 22nd October 2013, for a joint
meeting with the members of the Rotary
Club of Capital City & Colombo Fort.
7. Welcoming Rotarians, Anns & Annets (14)
from the Rotary Club of Bombay North End,
RI D-3140, Mumbai, India for a joint meeting
with the members of the Rotary Club of
Capital City, on Wednesday 06th November
2013
8. Scheduling for the formal handing over
Ceremony of the 2nd Phase of the Jaipur
Foot Limbs Project with the Rotary Club of
Bombay Airport & Bombay Seacoast on
Tuesday 26th November 2013 at CFINS,
Colombo 2 to be followed by fellowship and
dinner at 80 Club.
9. Exchange of Pennants with Rotary Club of
Solarpur North – Sister Club
10. Creating an Awareness on LN-4
Prosthetic Arm and distributing together
with the Rotary Club of Bangalore, Peenya,
RI D-3190 in the following Rotary Clubs;
a) to Rotary Club of Solarpur North, RI D-
3132,
b) Rotary Club of Guna, RI D-3050 and
c) Rotary Club of Bhavnagar, India. A total
of 60 LN-4 Prosthetic Arms have been
distributed.

  • 2. PROJECTS CARRIED OUT BY ROTARY CLUB OF CAPITAL CITY 2013-14

Donation of Vital sign Monitor worth LKR 518,000 to National Cancer Institute Maharagama Rotary Club of Capital City donated a Vital sign Monitor worth LKR 518,000.00 to the pediatric ward of National Cancer Institute Maharagama. RC of Capital City received funds from Mr. Nobert Wijerama in memory of Late Mrs. Hema Wijerama. Snr. Consultant Dr. Damayanthi Pieris and Director Community Service Dr. Sanjiv Rajapaksha along with Capital City members and Officials of DIMO were present at the ceremony. Joint International service project with Sister Clubs in India, Rotary Club of Capital City introduced, Ellen Meadows Prosthetic Hand Foundation USA to RC of Solapur North of RID 3132 and RC of Guna of RID 3050 with the assistance of RC of Peenya Bangalore RID 3190. The project was initiated and coordinated by our International services Director Rtn. PP Dilu Rodrigo. Project Value – Rs. 500,000/-

  • 8. 3. Donation of LKR 100,000 for Poverty Alleviation RC of Capital City donated LKR. 100,000/- to Professionals and Business Persons Association of Sacred Heart Church, Rajagiriya.

  • 13. 4. Donation and fixing of LN 4 arms (a) Donation and fixing of LN 4 arm to Mr. S.A Dinal Chandima Subasingha of Moratuwa through Colombo Friends in Need Society. Date 30th August, 2013 (b) A Prosthetic Limb was donated and fixed to Mr. Sunil Jayantha through Colombo Friends in Need Society. The Amputee was nominated by RC of Battaramulla. – 22nd August, 2013

  • 15. 5. AIDEX 2013 SPORTS MEET Rotary Club of Capital City participated in AIDEX 2013 sports meet organized by “Colombo Friends in need society”, which took place on 13th October, 2013. There were 400 differently abele men & women who took part and most of them were wearing Jaipur prosthetic limbs donated through RC of Capital City .

RECOGNITION OF VOLUNTEERS Recognition of Mr. Pradeep Jayamal, Mr. Ranjan Suranga, two teachers who have contributed services on a voluntary basis to the IT & English Centers situated in the Holy Rosary Church, Welikanna Waga & Lama Gramaya, Niripola, Hanwella during the Vocational Service month in October 2013.
  • 21. 7. INSTALLATION OF AIR CONDITIONERS AT LAMA GRAMAYA, NIRIPOLA Lama Gramaya, Niripola, (STG 500/- donation received from UK, to install an air conditioner in the Computer Centre. Fr. Chrispin was given 2 air conditioners free from Singer, three air conditioners were accordingly installed.

EDUCATION PROJECT IN KAYTS, VELANI, MULANKAVIL, NACHCIKUDA The donation and distribution of 3718 education packs to school students in Kayts, Velani, Mulankavil and Nachchikuda through the funds received from Clifford Chance Foundation UK. Rotary Club of Nallur provided logistical support to carry out this project. The Schools which benefited from the said project are as follows:-

  • 39. 9. DONATION OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. Handing over of medical equipment worth LKR 275,000 to the Pediatric ward of Cancer Hospital, Maharagama on 28th November. The donors were Mrs. Nimali Perera, Mrs. Eranka Warnalusuriya. Dr. Damayanthi Pieris receiving the said equipment.

  • 41. 10. 2nd Phase of the Jaipur Foot Limbs Project. Official Launch of the 2nd Phase of the Jaipur Foot Limbs (300 Limbs) took place on 26th of November at CFINS premises. DG Imran, Officials of Rotary Club of Bombay Sea Coast, Bombay Airport and members of Rotary Club of Capital City were present at the ceremony. Value Rs. 1,800,000/-

  • 43. 11. Donation of a hearing aid On 23rd November, RC of Capital City donated a hearing Aid to a patient at “Sarana Home”. The Hearing Aid was supplied by Rotary Club of Kandy.

Donation of Emergency Trauma Kits Rotary Club of Capital City donated Emergency Trauma Kits to Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air force, Fire Brigade, STF, Life Saving Association, Medical College, Each Trauma Kit is valued at USD 3,300/- Project was completed on 5th December. Project Value USD 26,400 (Rs. 3,432,000/)

Kilinochchi Rugby Fiesta Kilinochchi Rugby Fiesta 3rd December 2013 – Rotary Club of Capital City have sponsored the coach fee up to a period of 1 year, from which 300+ students in Kilinochchi area belonging to 9 schools will benefit. Project Value LKR 120,000. The Club distributed sweets worth LKR 16,000 to the kids.

  • 53. 14. Jaffna Education project Rotary Club of Capital City donated 109 education packs for the students of Nadeswara College, Kankasanthurai. The value of the project is, LKR 29,130.00 Rotary Club of Nallur did the handing over of the education packs on behalf of our Club. This was carried out on 07th January, 2014

Mobile Prosthetics Camp – Minneriya Mobile Prosthetic Limbs/Hands Project, Minneriya carried out by Colombo Friend in Need Society from 21st to 24th February 2014 The project was coordinated by the Rotary Club of Capital City and supported by the Ayurveda Base Hospital in Minneriya to give a hope to more than 90 amputees in Minneriya, Polonnaruwa and neighbouring areas.

The Jaipur limbs and LN-4 functional hands were donated to the amputees through the sponsorships received from the RI District 3140, India: Rotary Club of Bombay Seacoast, Rotary Club of Bombay Airport, Rotary Club of Nariman Point AND Ellen Meadows Prosthetic Hand Foundation, USA. Value of the project – Rs. 800,000/-

  • 61. 16. Donation of furniture to Colombo Friend in Need Society Donation of used compressor, office chairs, and two cupboards to the Colombo Friend in Need Society by the Club. Value of the said equipment approximately 100,000/- 17. Donation for the Kiula Village’s Kiyawana Gunaya social initiate A compressor was donated by the Club to Mr. Renton De Alwis for the Kiula Village’s Kiyawana Gunaya social initiate. Value – Rs. 75,000/-
  • 62. 18. Prosthetics Mobile Project – Mullaitvu From 19th to 22nd March 2014 a prosthetics mobile workshop was organized in Mullaitivu together with Colombo Friend in Need Society. Rotary Clubs in Malaysia and Federations of Malaysians Sri Lankans Organisations donated US$ 5000/- towards this project. 54 patients were seen at the said mobile camp and 50 patients were fitted with prosthetics. Project Cost – Rs. 660,000/-

  • 66. 19. Around the Pearl Participated with the Around the Pearl project to raise funds towards purchasing 1000 wheelchairs for cerebral palsy patients. 12 riders cycled around the country in 9 days approximately 1400 kms. The Club donated Rs. 25,000/- towards the said project.

  • 72. 20. International Service. (a) Joint Meeting with the Rotary Club of Bombay Seacoast with the Interactors, Teacher in-charge and PP Fr. Chrispin in charge of the students of St. Peter's College. One photograph is the LED Lantern given to start a project in SL and the other by PP Kothari handing over a copy of his book on Himalayan wildlife. He visited us here.

Education Project – Kalpitiya and Andigama On 13th June 2014 Rotary Club of Capital City together with Citi Bank carried out a Community Service Project to donate education material to 2737 students in 6 schools in Kandakuliya and Andigama. Namely, 1. Andigama Navodya Vidyalaya 2. Andigama Primary School 3. Primary School Serukelle 4. Kandakuliya Muslim School 5. St. Sebastian Sinhala School 6. Mune Sinhala School

  • 81. This was done with the collaboration and funding of Citi Bank, Sri Lanka, Club funds and donations by other well wishers. Rotaract Club of IIHE also participated towards packing the Education packs. Over Rs. 600,000/- was donated by Citi Bank and further donations from well-wishers was received as well. Rotary Club of Capital City also provided funding towards this project. Total Cost of the Project approximately Rs. 900,000/- Value of the items distributed approximately Rs. 1,400,000/-

  • 86. 22. Fourth Avenue of Service – PP Dilu Rodgrio 1. Organizing together with PP Rtn Fr. Chrispin Leo, PHF, Director Vocational Service to take the Interactors of St. Peter’s College, Colombo 4, to take part in an Educational RYLA from 18th to 26th September 2013, Mumbai, India.

Scheduling for the formal handing over Ceremony of the 2nd Phase of the Jaipur Foot Limbs Project with the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport & Bombay Seacoast on Tuesday 26th November 2013 at CFINS, Colombo 2 to be followed by fellowship and dinner at 80 Club. 9. Exchange of Pennants with Rotary Club of Solarpur North – Sister Club

Creating an Awareness on LN-4 Prosthetic Arm and distributing together with the Rotary Club of Bangalore, Peenya, RI D-3190 in the following Rotary Clubs; a) to Rotary Club of Solarpur North, RI D- 3132, b) Rotary Club of Guna, RI D-3050 and c) Rotary Club of Bhavnagar, India. A total of 60 LN-4 Prosthetic Arms have been distributed.
