2. In terms of our third draft, we
began assessing our audience
feedback. In doing so we found a
lot of our magazine was too red
creating a very ‘blockish’ effect.
We wanted only ‘Bella’ to be in
this deep red colour in order to
emphasise the thriller genre. We
also felt red stood out against
the rest of the page so audiences
attentions are immediately
captivated to ‘Bella’.
Here we began changing the
colours of the magazine. And
deciding what we felt looked good
and what did not. I also changed
the positioning of the barcode as
many people within our audience
feedback, said the barcode didn’t
appear right, in doing so we simply
changed the barcode to a portrait
position so it appeared out of the
way and unnoticeable.
3. Initially we just began editing the
layer of the magazine, making
sure every aspect appeared
professional and bright in its
appearance.
Both me and Karlie than began
to edit the colours of the
magazine and what we felt
coordinated or what did not suit
the overall ‘look’. In doing so, I
initially changed the colour to a
‘blue’ colour, but we both felt
this ‘clashed’ with the other
colours in the magazine.
4. Moving on to the other
elements which we edited.
Karlie began to change the
colour of the previous ‘red
banner’ to a ‘grey scale’ colour,
as we felt their was too much
‘red’ within the magazine and
this needed to be scaled down.
By changing it to grey it
allowed the word ‘Bella ’to
appear more prominent on the
page (allowing members of the
public to initially be drawn to
this.)
After doing this Karlie
positioned everything to its
correct form and corrected the
font to make it stand out. (And
allow it to appear they way it
previously was but with a grey
colour.
5. Here we further changed other
elements of the ‘red’ colour that
wasn’t involved in the ‘Bella’ article. I
changed the ‘17 for 17’ text to a dark
navy colour, as this stands out
however no longer clashes with the
red. I then changed the blending
options to make the words stand out
and appear as they have a show effect
behind them. This also presents a
more professional appearance, and
appears alike a typical magazine.
In order to make ‘Bella’
more prominent and link
the image and the article
together, I simply enlarged
the font and dragged the
rest of the text so it is in
line (in block form). I then
moved the text slightly to
the right. I feel this directly
links to the image so it
becomes obvious of the
films title and genre.
6. Final draft- Overall I am pleased with my final
outcome and feel it portrays a sophisticated
and professional appearance. The text does
not appear too chaotic or messy and provides
articles in relation to the film magazine/ the
main feature article of ‘Bella’. We have used a
variety of colours and ways to present the text
in order to captivate audiences attention.
We also took large
inspiration from this
‘Captain America’ empire
film magazine. We felt it
was very captivating and
interesting in its exterior
and very much wanted to
take inspiration from this.
In doing so both me and
Karlie picked certain
elements out from the
magazine and attempted
to apply this to our own
film magazine.
