Excretory system

 1. 1. Excretory system
Components & functions
2. 2. Function…
The function of the excretory system is to remove the metabolic wastes of an organism. Wastes that are removed include carbon dioxide, water, salt and urea.
3. 3. What’s it all made of ….
Kidneys - 2 kidneys constantly filter blood to produce urine
Ureters - 2 ureters carry urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder.
Bladder- the urinary bladder stores urine until it is released from the body.
Urethra - is the tube that carries urine from the urinary bladder to the outside of the body.
4. 4. How does it work?
As the waste products from our blood accumulate, the kidneys perform a filtration process that removes waste that the body can not use and keeps water and nutrients that can be reclaimed. The kidneys return the reclaimed water back to the body, but mix the waste products into a liquid known as urine. The kidneys direct the urine to the bladder, where it is collected and held until it exits from the body.
