2. Question 1) Please select your gender? The bar graph above illustrates the number of male and females who filled out the questionnaires for our music video audience research task. Altogether, there were 9 males and 2 females who completed the questionnaire.
3. Question 2) Please select your age? We distributed our questionnaires out to sixth form students and teachers in our college as well as distributing it out to people from outside of our school in order for us to be provided with results from people who were of all different age groups, ranging from 17-29+. By doing this, we would be provided with an insight into different peoples taste of music and their likes and dislikes of their favourite music genre based on the age they were. From the results, it is obvious that people aged between 17-20 and 21-24 watch more music videos and those aged 25-28 and 29+ are the ones that watch the least.
4. Question 3) What is your preferred music genre to listen to? From my results, the majority of people who answered my questionnaire stated that they preferred to listen to ‘Hip Hop’ music, closely followed by ‘R&B.’ This suggests that both of these music genres are exceptionally popular with audiences and is well-liked with those from all different age ranges.

7. Question 5) What appeals to you most about this genre of music? From these results it is clear that the majority of respondents who completed the questionnaire explained that the convention that appeals to them most in their favourite genre of music is the beat of music which ranked first and the lyrics of the song coming in second. Both of these conventions are exceptionally popular in music videos and from these results are what draws in audiences.
8. Question 6) Which of the following artists would you be likely to listen to based on the genre of the band and their style of music? The Arctic Monkeys Beyonce The Saturdays From these results, it is noticeable that the respondents favourite artist to listen to is Kanye West, with Rihanna coming second. Both of these singers are artists who represent the ‘R&B’ genre. This depicts, that the ‘R&B’ genre and the artists linked to it, is undoubtedly popular with audiences from all different age ranges. This is a great result for us, as our artist will be representing the ‘R&B’ genre and should therefore reach a wide target audience.

11. Question 8) Which music channels do you watch? (If any) From the results it is obvious that most people tend to watch 4Music, whilst each of the MTV channels came second. In fact, almost every single MTV channel came as the audiences second choice, perhaps suggesting that MTV is a popular channel which reaches people from all different age ranges. Additionally, the results also illustrate how most people tend to watch music videos nowadays as another way of being able to listen to their favourite song. Out of everyone the results showed that only two people do not watch music videos at all.
12. Question 9) How do you consume music? From these results, it is clear that most of the respondents explained that they consume their music by using downloads from iTunes and online purchasing and the one that came in second was free downloads. Clearly, this suggests that most audiences nowadays tend to consume their music over the internet by downloading their music from websites or iTunes rather than going out to shops and buying physical copies of a CD.
13. Question 10) How much would you propose you spend on music each year? These results exemplify that most respondents who completed this questionnaire tend to spend under £20.00 per year on music, which from the results we gathered on question nine we discovered that most people nowadays download their music online for free so they rarely need to pay for the music they listen to, hence why the amount of money they do spend on music per year is so low.
