This document discusses equipping students for the future with technology skills. It notes that currently 50% of jobs require technology skills, a number expected to rise to 77% in the next 10 years. Many future jobs will also require skills like remote work, online collaboration, and digital communication. However, technology in schools is often absent, creating a disconnect between student life in and out of school. Blended learning combines traditional instruction with online learning using mobile devices to achieve optimal outcomes. Successful technology integration in schools requires focus on infrastructure, processes, and training for students, teachers, administrators and support staff.

3. Equipping student for the future
Currently, 50% of today’s jobs require technology skills and
that number is expected to grow to 77% in the next 10 years
A growing number of jobs will require that applicants know
how to work remotely, dialogue online with
coworkers, work collaboratively using tools like Google
Docs and wikis, and communicate via e-mail, Skype, and
Twitter.
The globalization of the workplace requires a skill set that
many students are not taught in school.
Absence of technology in school creates a disconnect
between the students’ lives outside of the classroom
4. Definition
Blended learning provides teachers
and students with flexibility.
Teachers can design lessons that
weave the best of traditional
instruction with the unique
benefits of an online component
using mobile and other technology to
achieve optimal learning
outcomes for all students.
6. The addition of technology does not necessarily equate to a
21st century classroom; however, technology can be the
vehicle used to hook student interest and develop relevant
skills needed to be successful beyond school.

Why did we start to investigate and implement Blended Learning?
What is blended learning?
To understand Blended Learning we will look at the different components and define what Doxa Deo understand under each. Over the years e-Learning has evolved and there as different placements, models and focusses of blendedness. Combination of traditional Class Learning and Online learning = Universities + distance learningTotal Online Learning = New rising MOOCsUsing cell phones to answer Math problems (Tutors through Mxit)SugataMitra = Hole in the wall experiment. Kids can teach themselves.
