The document summarizes the tools and programs the author used to create various media products, and what they learned about using each one. They used Photoshop to add text and shapes to an image, Quark to layout an article and contents page, an SLR camera to take photos with different settings, a sound recorder to capture audio interviews, Slideshare to upload presentations, Blogger to create and manage a blog, Prezi to make interactive presentations, and Xtranormal to create an animated avatar. For each tool, the author discusses functions they had to learn like adjusting settings, adding elements, and sharing or uploading finished work.
2. Tools used: I used the text
tool to add text layers on the image. I
used the shape creating tool to add
the bar beneath the artist’s name and
the bar at the bottom of the page. I
duplicated the image layer and put the
text for the masthead inbetween them
then used the eraser tool to erase the
top layer to reveal the masthead;
giving the effect seen above. I used the
spot healing tool to erase several
spots on the artist’s skin. I copied the
barcode from an online image and Original photograph. Finished front cover.
pasted it onto my image in the correct
place.
I have never used Photoshop before so, while creating this media product, I have to learn what each
tool does and how to use it to create a convincingly professional looking media product.
3. Finished contents page.
Finished DPS.
I used quark to create my DPS article and my contents page. I
learnt how to select the correct amount of columns; How to add
pictures and scale them to the correct size; How to create a drop
capital; How to insert text and change font type and size; How to
get the text in the article to fit around the quote; How to create
and colour shapes.
I have never used Quark before so I also had to learn how to use
this programme and its tools to create my products.
4. I have used an SLR camera before but, before
making this product, never had to change the
settings. To capture these images I used
different settings in different lights. I wanted
the image for my front cover to look bold, with
darker colours, so I changed the settings until I
achieved what I wanted. For the outside images
I changed the settings so that movement would
not cause a blur- therefore my images would
not be ruined by her dress moving in the wind
or a car driving in the background.
5. I used a sound recorder to capture and a
conversation with a target audience member.
I have never used one of these before but by
doing so learnt how to use them to capture
audio; how to delete files; how to upload files
to a computer; how to pause whilst recording.
6. Slideshare: I used slideshare to help
upload PowerPoint presentations to my
blog. By doing so I learnt how to create an
Blogger. Com: I learnt account and how to share the URL of an
how to create a profile; uploaded presentation to my blog so it
upload different mediums to can be viewed by others.
my blog; how to edit dates;
how to edit blog entries;
how to save work to be
completed at a later date.
Xtranormal: I used Xtranormal to
Prezi: I used prezi to create create an avatar of a typical audience
presentations. In the process of member. In the process of creating
doing so I learnt how to make an this avatar I learnt how to create an
account; how to use the site to account; how to create a character;
create presentations including both how to add a backdrop; how to add
text and images; how to share the background music; how to make the
finished product on my blog. avatar speak; how to upload the
