Evaluation 2
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process
of constructing this product?

2. Using Photoshop
During the preliminary task I wasn’t confident using photoshop which meant I
barely edited my images which resulted in my magazine looking unprofessional.
For example I cropped my image slightly and then changed the saturation. When it
came to creating my main media product I used Photoshop to edit every image I
eventually used. During this process I developed my skills when working with
Photoshop. For my cover I cropped and flipped the image, I then changed the
colour levels along with the saturation
to make prominent features stand out.
I also used the stamp tool to edit out any
blemishes. For the contents page I had
grown confident with the lasso and
magic wand tools to edit my images
well. When creating my double page
spread I edited the canvas to create the
polaroid effect on my images as-well as
altering the grain and colouring.

3. Using InDesign
I used InDesign to create my preliminary task and the contents page and double
page spread of my music magazine. I used Publisher to design banners to add
onto my spread. My skills advanced more when I got to creating my double page
spread I was able to make a more “complicated” over my three column structure. I
created polaroid’s that were placed on top on my main image and another that
obstructed the text. I learnt how to alter the character and paragraphing of my
text by using the hyphenate tool which makes my text look more professional. I
also learnt the importance of keeping a consistent column structure to my
magazine which makes it look more professional.

4. Using Camera’s
I used my Nikon camera for all my photo-shoots from the preliminary task to the
final media product. During my time of the course I have managed to develop
my photography skills particularly in the double page spread shoot where I used
a shallow depth of field to focus entirely on my model and the background could
blur. I used close up images of my model in both my contents page and cover
page as the reader is then able to see the expression the model has which adds
further context to the story.

5. Using Wordpress
I used Wordpress to display all my practical media stuff in. Using the categories
tool I was able to present and store my work so that it was easily accessible if it
needed to be edited or marked. The site also allowed me to present my work in
chronological order making it easy for me to see the gradual development of my
work. As Wordpress also allows you to follow other blogs, I was able to follow my
peers and vice versa so it was always easy to have peer feedback.

6. Using Prezi
I used Prezi as an alternative way to present my research and now
evaluation questions. It was an alternative medium that changed from just
writing realms on my WordPress page.
