Globalization Of Dreams And Its Effects On Dreams
Globalization of Dreams
The focus of this study is to continue previous research relating the significance of cultures and
dreams. These studies have set out to show what how much of an effect culture has on dreams. To
measure this, other researchers have recorded participants typical dreams. These studies have helped
us to understand some of the differences in beliefs, values, and structure of other cultures as well as
the differences and similarities. Through analyzing the differences and similarities of our various
cultures we learn what humans share in values as a whole and how our society influences our thinking
and actions. By interviewing two people from two different collectivistic cultures, there should be a
great deal of similarities between the two. Any differences recorded found will be derived from
individual perspectives rather than culture. The goal of the research is to show culture doesn t heavily
influence our dreams but rather individual perceptions of the world around them do. There isn t a
significant difference in typical dreams between cultures, rather researchers tend to agree that culture
doesn t have much of an effect on dreams and it has more to do with our individual perception of our
day (Jaenicke 2009).
In Griffith, Miyago, and Tago s (1958) study of The Universality of Typical Dreams: Japanese vs.
Americans, statistics showed out of the 34 typical dreams compared between the two, 14 held a
significant difference of a .01 confidence

Henry Ford Started the Car Revolution
Henry Ford Who is the person that started the car revolution? Who is the person that introduced us to
the world of automobiles? The answer is Henry Ford. Henry Ford was a successful man that created
the Ford automobile. Henry Ford s company is still making great profit in business. Henry Ford
wanted to stop World War II by creating tanks, jeeps, and other armed forces but it still didn t work.
Still, Ford s automobiles were affordable and he became a very rich and a well known man. Henry has
achieved the creation of the V8 engine and was able to build the model T in 24 seconds with the
assembly line that he introduced. Because of the assembly line, there were people that called him
Liner. These are only two of the many achievements that Henry Ford had. Henry Ford s life was an
unexpected journey for both the people and him. Many events occurred to him that changed his life
such as becoming very wealthy. It was hard for Ford to start from the beginning. Henry Ford s early
life was a life that wasn t expected from a noble man such as him. Henry Ford was born on a farm in
Greenfield Township, Michigan, in July 30, 1863 and died in Fair Lane, Michigan in April 7, 1947.
Henry Ford s father was William Ford, who married Mary Ford. Henry Ford s father gave him a
watch, which made him later gain the reputation for fixing watches in his neighborhood. In 1879,
Henry Ford left home and started his career as a mechanist. He first started operating steam engines,
after that he got a

Symbolism In The Handmaids Tale
The Handmaid s Tale The Handmaid s Tale is a story told in the voice of Offred, who is the character
of the handmaid , which is described best by women who are being forced and used for reproduction
because they can make babies. In the Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood uses symbolism, which is
the use of symbols to represent ideas, to show the reader the handmaid s role in society of Gilead. The
handmaids were women who had broken the law of Gilead, and forced into having sex and
reproducing for the higher class. They had no rights and were watched constantly so this created a
very nervous atmosphere. This horrible way of living is most likely why Offred never fully made the
reader aware of the horrible life she was forced to live because ... Show more content on

Furthermore, specific women have been chosen as handmaids to have children with the country s top
Commanders. My red skirt is hitched up to my waist, though no higher. Below it the Commander is
fucking. What he is fucking is the lower part of my body. I do not say making love, because this is not
what he is doing. Copulating too would be inaccurate, because it would imply two people and only
one is involved. Nor does rape cover it: nothing is going on here that I haven t signed up for. There
wasn t a lot of choice but there was some, and this is what I chose (Atwood 94). The Handmaid s Tale
is narrated in the first person from the point of view of Offred, a woman who married a divorced man
and had a child living the romantic life she always dreamed of. Divorce was however forbidden in the
society, so her marriage was not considered appropriate, but her only saving grace was that she had
shown the government she was fertile and able to bear children, so she is given the chance to become
a Handmaid instead of being sent away until death. Offred chooses on her own free will to be a
Handmaid but was it free will? Being a handmaid meant engaging in forced sexual intercourse with
her Commander once a month when she is fertile so that hopefully she can get pregnant with his child.
The reader following with Offred and women who are not Handmaids know that this forced sexual

Building A Montessori Trade School Essay
I have been super interested in Africa since I was a young child. I used to watch the National
Geographic channel and documentaries more than cartoon network or the Disney channel starting at
around the age of six years old. I believe this greatly contributed to my fascination for the cradle of
civilization and indigenous societies. Hopefully one day I plan to build a Montessori trade school
somewhere in Africa teaching aquaponics, organic farming, coding, CAD and other specialized trades.
Therefore, I chose the ancient ruins of the Great Zimbabwe to learn more about the people and history
of South Africa.
The city s name comes from the Shona term dzimbabwe which means houses of stone. The Great
Zimbabwe Ruins are made of hand hewn granite and are located five hundred miles north of Victoria
near the border of modern day Zimbabwe. The ruins span one thousand five hundred kilometers in
size which is equivalent to one thousand eight hundred acres. It is the largest ancient structure south of
the Sahara Desert. The ruins are made up of three main structures. The Hill Complex, The Great
Enclosure and The Valley Ruins. The people of Great Zimbabwe most likely worshipped Mwari the
most powerful god in the Shona religion. The Hill Complex is believed to have been the spiritual and
religious area of the city. It is two hundred sixty two feet above ground and extends three hundred
twenty eight feet by one hundred forty eight feet. The Great Enclosures outer wall is eight hundred

Margaret Paston Letters
There are thousands of surviving letters written by members of the Paston family, who lived in East
Anglia in the fifteenth century. Margaret Paston, an heiress of the Mautby family who married the
lawyer John Paston I in 1440, wrote many of these letters. This particular letter, written in a plain and
conversational style expected of personal correspondences of this period , deals with the secret
marriage of Margaret s daughter Margery Paston to the family bailiff Richard Calle. It was written
September tenth, 1469, to Sir John Paston II, Margaret s son, who was working as a Justice of the
Peace in Norfolk . Margaret acted as a business partner with her husband as he was often away
working in London. The letters she wrote to him often detail the ways she is upholding her role as
wife and mother, as well as casting dispersions on those who fail to live up to society s standards for
conduct. As the wife of a lawyer, she most certainly knew the value of written evidence, and many of
her letters may be looked at as her way of proving she was fulfilling her obligations to her family . ...

For this reason, many personal letters were written with an unknown third party in mind, be that a
judge or church official. This makes the intended audience of Margaret s letter more complicated than
it would seem at first glance. The primary audience was of course John II, the recipient of the letter,
however it would have also been seen by the secretary who transcribed the letter, and possibly by the
messenger who delivered it and the unknown third party . For this particular letter the scribe was
Edmond Paston II, another of Margaret s sons

Azazel Short Story
Ch.1
In a small village, far far way from here. There was a little girl named Azazel, who was going through
the worst hair day you could ever imagine. As she brushes and brushes her hair more and more gets
caught and tangled in her brush. So she flings it out her window in anger.
Azazel, your mother grows weaker by the day, come say goodbye for I fear this is the end.
Her father says as he walks into the room and stands behind her
Yikes. That s some head of hair you have there, you had better fix that before you go outside.
He continued as Azazel continued to fiddle with the tangle of hair on her cowlicked head. She goes to
visit her mother down the hall for what is supposedly the final time. Ch.2
Azazel s mother lays in her sick bed, dying from makeup poisoning. Azazel rushed to her mother side.
When her mother spotted the mess of her child her eyes widened in surprise,
My child, my dear precious Azazel. You re such a mess. I have something that will help you, oh dear...
but it will be quite a quest.
The mother states wearily,
Oh please mommy I ll do anything to look better on your last look of me.
Azazel exclaims excitedly at the prospect of taming her hair for her mother s final breath.
Very well, you need to find the diamond hair tie, the silver hair spray, and the golden bobby pins. Find
the wise woman in the forest of fears to get the bobby pins, she will tell you where to go next.
As the mother spoke she became more and more tired,
Now go, go before I fall

Sally Anne Bowman, an 18 year old model/singer, was murdered outside her home in Croydon after a
night out with her sister. She was stabbed 7 times in total with 3 exits wounds where the knife
completely penetrated her body. Sally also suffered severe bite wounds and was raped after she was
killed. Her ex boyfriend Lewis was the initial suspect and he was arrested before DNA evidence
proved his innocence. The DNA found on intimate examination of Sally s body did not match Lewis s,
instead it matched an unsolved sexual assault from 4 years prior. Police were then informed of an

Chocolat Gender Roles
Women have often been perceived as a weak individual in society. Being able to transform and break
through from traditions is tremendously critical for women. In the film Chocolat, gender role plays a
massive component in the story line. It can be told through the main character Vianne Rocher, feisty
mother Armande, battered wife Josephine Muscat, and widow Madam Audel. Each one of this
character has their special way of demonstrating their gender role throughout the movie.
Vianne Rocher and her daughter Anouk travel to a quiet French village that strictly follows to
tradition, as led by the village mayor, Comte Paul de Reynaud. Upon their arrival, the villagers were
just starting their forty days of Lent. Vianne found the landlord Armande to open a chocolate shop.
When Comte Paul de Reynaud approached Vianne regarding going to church on Sunday, Vianne
disclosed that she does not go to church. This angers Comte Paul de Reynaud because he thinks this is
a sinful act. Vianne showcase women that do not follow traditions to go to church every Sunday;

Armande was the first person that visited Vianne s shop. Observing Armande brought a number of
perspectives into the play. She practically resembles an older version of Vianne. She has not gone to
church, have her on standpoints on issues, and were the only supporting person for Vianne in the
beginning of the film. Armande suffers from diabetes but she has shown a whole heap on how
independent women remain able to care for themselves without anyone. Armande believed that her
grandson should be allowed to explore the world instead of being restricted and bound to rules set by
the society and school. This strong will of freedom, believes, and for women to be opinionated at that

Text Messaging Affecting Literacy
Outline
Introduction
Text messaging has become a very popular way to communicate for teenagers and it seems to be
altering the literacy of teens and also affecting the way they speak.
Text messaging has lead to many teenagers to become iliterate. With more teens resorting to texts and
emails to communicate with others the literacy is changing over time.
The impact that text messaging has on literacy of teens is important because the generations will
slowly become more reliant on the texting slang. As the literacy decreases due to the texts and emails
each generation will slowly create a new view of what literacy is.
Literacy is affected by different aspects of texting. The things that effect it include the access texting
gives you to autocorrect, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teenagers use texting as their main way to communicate which forces away face to face talking and
the requirement of using the correct way to read write and speak.
The way teenagers speak such as saying acronyms in conversations and abbreviations for words out
loud is proof that the grammar used to text is affecting the words we use for communication.
Speaking to people of importance or even just a family friend would require you to have literacy skills
so that they can understand what you are saying but the generations to come may form a new thought
of the requirements of what literacy is.
Conclusion
It is becoming evident that the way teenagers read write and speak is being impacted by the
percentages rising of the numbers of text messages that are being sent by teens daily.
The use of autocorrect that allows teens to not have to know how to correctly spell, cyber slang, and
also the way texting creates a barrier from how they speak are all affecting the literacy that is needed

The Horrifying Steps Of The Final Solution
The Horrifying Steps of the Final Solution Beginning in the year 1933, life became difficult for all
non Aryans living in Europe. That was the year Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany. His
anti Semitic principles served as the basis of the Nazi party and its supporters. Although their ideas
were opposed by many, the Nazis managed to carry out The Final Solution with the goal of ridding
Europe of Jews, gypsies, Soviets, and homosexuals. One prominent figure was Heinrich Himmler who
constructed the Final Solution : a written document that stated the steps needed to be taken in order to
establish a pure Aryan race. This solution consisted of isolating Jews in ghettos, sending non Aryans
to concentration and extermination camps, and forcing them to undergo starvation, thirst, shootings,
and extended suffering. The various steps within this document each served a different purpose and
implemented a new kind of suffering upon the prisoners. New family roles were established and new
outlooks on life and religion were brought about due to the scares they experienced. The Holocaust
transformed the lives of many through the daily hardships in its ghettos, concentration and
extermination camps, and demolished post war Europe.
The first place the Jews were sent, as stated by the Nazi s Final Solution , were the ghettos. Ghettos
during the Holocaust were located in small German cities. Jews were isolated from the rest of society
as they spent endless days

Analyzing Sylvia Path s Daddy
Daddy Analyzation The poem Daddy by Sylvia Path is a very dark poem. The poem is about both the
narrator s father and her husband. The narrator must have relationship problems because she is very
conflicted in this poem. Both of these seem to have a struggling relationship with her. She compares
her dad to a number of things: vampire, devil, and a fascist. Throughout the poem, she only speaks of
her daddy and suddenly turns the table and starts talking about how she s killed two men. These two
men were both killed by the narrator. In the beginning, when talking about her father s death, the
narrator makes it sound like her just died of natural causes. But by the end it sounds like she killed
him and her husband. In this poem, the narrator had a struggling relationship with her father.
In this poem, the narrator goes back and forth about her relationship with her father. One moment, she
hates him and criticizes the way he treated her, and the next she praises him. In lines 65 67, Path
states, But no less a devil for that, no not/Any less the black man who/ Bit my pretty red heart in two,

Path writes, At twenty I tried to die/ And get back, back, back to you, (Lines 69 70). I m pretty sure
this person may be bipolar because within five lines she has different emotions for her father. In these
lines, she is explaining how she wanted to die, so that she could be with him again. Why would she
want to be with him again after all the so called horrible things she claimed her did? She says such
horrible things about him, especially when she compares herself to a Jew and her father a fascist in
lines 32 53. She even says she tried to die which probably means she attempted suicide. This proves
that she has had a struggling relationship with her father because she can t even decide whether or not
she hates

Why 1984 Should Be Banned
As with any form of someone s artistic creation there are bound to be good and bad opinions or
criticisms. So when someone writes a book they know it will not please everyone. However, do any
authors ever think, Not only can my book be ill received, but it might even get banned. Now what
does it mean for a book to be banned? Well it means that reading said book is not allowed either by
school, state or even country. To enforce the banning libraries and bookstores will not have the books
available for people to check out. For a book to be banned it must first be challenged, but not all
challenged books get banned. For example, the book 1984 was banned in the Soviet Union for being
against communism and was burned. However, in Jackson County, ... Show more content on

In doing so, both of them can be arrested and accused of acts of rebellion simply by their meeting in
secret. Both characters are aware what they are doing is illegal and are okay with it because they want
to in someway feel like they are rebelling. When Julia asks Winston what he thought of her when he
first saw her he says, I hated the sight of you. I wanted to rape you and then murder you afterwards.
Two weeks ago I thought seriously of smashing your head in with a cobblestone... When Julia

rot all over London. Both their language in this scene is vulgar and Julia s is seen as a bigger surprise
because workers of the government or citizens are not supposed to speak in that manner, especially
about the government. However, since both of them dislike the government it is through their
language that they can further rebel. Sometime later in the same hiding spot they had met, Winston
and Julia have a moment of intimacy. This is one of the worst acts of rebellion against the government
since being intimate can lead to forming a relationship. For the government, it also means that a
citizen s loyalty is not entirely to it s country. As they are about to begin Winston asks if she had ever
done this before. Julia replies with, Of course.

The Biological Approach
The main assumption of the biological approach is behaviour and experiences can be explained by
biological changes in the body. This approach focusses on the investigation of the brain, nervous
system and other biological factors such as hormones; whereas the main assumption of the cognitive
approach is that information received from our senses is processed by the brain and that this
processing influences how we behave or at least justifies how we behave the way we do. Cognitive
processes are examples of hypothetical constructs researchers cannot directly observe processes such
as thinking but we can infer what a person is thinking based on how they act (behavioural patterns).
Some key researchers in the biological approach are Maguire et. Al (2000) Navigation related
structural changes in the hippocampi of taxi drivers, and Sperry (1968) Hemisphere disconnection and
unity in consciousness. Some key researchers in the cognitive approach are Loftus and Palmer (1974)
eyewitness testimony and Baron Cohen (1997) Autism.
There are a few similarities between the two approaches, for example the biological approach likes to
use variants of laboratory experiments from quasi (natural) to experiments in highly artificial settings.
This is done so that the researchers can take advantage of the naturally occurring variables or can
change them easily to suit the experiment and control any extraneous or confounding variables, and
can therefore easily establish cause and effect.

The Central Nervous System
Famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson once said, Everything we do, every thought we ve ever
had, is produced by the human brain. But exactly how it operates remains one of the biggest unsolved
mysteries, and it seems the more we probe its secrets, the more surprises we find (BrainyQuote). The
brain is like a galaxy. There is general knowledge of the universe; however, new secrets of planets,
moons, and stars are discovered on a daily basis. Similarly, scientists know the basic structure and
functions of the brain, but new aspects of the brain are revealed everyday.
The brain is part of the central nervous system (CNS). Its role is to receive signals, decode the signals,
and send response signals down the spinal cord to the rest of the body. Signals are received from
different parts of the brain depending on which sensory organs receive stimuli (Carter, Gray 697).
Once sensory organs receive stimuli, stimuli are transmitted to sensory memories, which are
physiological parts of the nervous system [that directly sensors to the brain] (Kinster, Grobstein).
Sensory memories then pass selected stimuli to hippocampus in the forebrain, and the hippocampus
sends the integrated memory to neurons in the form of electrical impulses (Mohs). The human brain is
similar to the Congress in that thousands of bills are introduced in the Congress, but only a few bills
that are deemed to have significance move on to categorical committees. Resembling the journey of
bills,

The amount of sexual assaults on women in the U.S. military rests unbearably great. In a 2006 study,
it showed that female veterans financed by the Department of Veterans Affairs estimated that about 23
33 percent of women have been assaulted, compared to the 17 percent of women in the general
population. As well as this study a recent Pentagon report had showed that in the academic year of
2010 2011 there we 65 reported assaults that involved female cadets and midshipmen. Since many
victims are too terrified to come forward about their attacks, it is estimated that about 19,000 assaults
took place in the year of 2011. This number is six times the number of attacks reported. There have

Analysis Of The Book Redeployment By Phil Klay
Through history further and further studies are ongoing into the unseen horror. Some say it is caused
directly in relation to combat; others may say that it is from the images seen. In the book
Redeployment by Phil Klay, he develops several stories from fictitious Marine Corps veterans that
represent veterans one may encounter in the real world. Phil Klay s book contains stories of
relationships at home falling apart all the way to the high stress of patrols as Marines. With these
stories it better shows the unseen horrors of war. Many veterans return home with a serious disorder.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is the by product of war, and people need to know more about it to
help our returning hero s. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD for short, is very real. It does not
solely affect soldiers either. For example, my father, a retired firefighter, relives moments from when
he worked at certain times when images are triggered. However, the modern soldier is more directly
associated and found to have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As Dexter Filkins, a former Baghdad
correspondent for the New York Times, stated in his review on Redeployment Armed conflict so
fundamentally alters the environment it takes hold of that no aspect of life escapes undistorted: not
love, not friendship, not sleep, not trust, not conversation. Therefore meaning when most veterans
return home, nothing is seen in the same light again. Phil Klay outlines several examples of this. Phil

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to tell the reader how children are most influenced psychologically by war
and that the psychological effects are more severe than those of physical, emotional, and social
influences. Researches that were found in this projects includes: book, journal, websites, professional
member of the APA, et al. Through further reading on the research, it has come to the conclusion that
children face more psychological effects than others and that it can lead to post traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) and other symptoms and disorders such as depression or anxiety. Research has also
found that children can experience symptoms of these disorders by being directly or indirectly
influenced by war.
INTRODUCTION Fear, Hostility, Bloodshed, Battle. These are some of the few words that come to
mind when people hear the word war . People say that war is a mean to better the world or to protect
the lives of others, when in reality it is just another way to torment the lives of other. Everyone is a
victim in times of war, but the group that suffers from it the most are children. Many believe that
children are more affected socially, physically, and emotionally by war rather than suffering
psychologically through Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other disorders.
Children rely on empathy and attention from their

Romeo And Juliet Figurative Language
William Shakespeare was a 16th century playwright that wrote many famous plays. One of his most
famous plays is called Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is about star crossed lovers from rival
families. Shakespeare uses figurative language to highlight main themes such as love, death, and
foolhardiness. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare highlights love through the use of
hyperbole, imagery, similes and metaphors. Romeo and Juliet is a play about two star crossed lovers
from rival families that die trying to be together. In a story, a theme is an idea that is constantly
referenced throughout that story. The theme of love is shown multiple times in Romeo and Juliet

A Brief Note On The Gas Mixture Of Hydrogen And Carbon...
1.2.3 Gasification and Syngas Syngas is a gas mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, which are
products from gasfireing any hydrocarbon material such as coal at a high pressure and temperature, 30
bar and 1500 °K. The present of the oxygen is the primary difference between gasification and
combustion. When a feed gasfire, the oxygen or air is injected in small amount allowing part of the
feed to burn completely which supply the required heat and pressure, then, the heat will break down
the feed into synthesis gas (Higman Burgt, 2003). This process consists of six main reactions: Table 1:
Gasification main reactions Reaction Process Chemical Formula Change in Enthalpy Gasification
with Oxygen C + ½ O2 → CO 3,922 Btu/lb C Combustion with Oxygen C + O2 → CO2 14,111

gasification. These configurations describe the way oxygen introduced to hydrocarbon feed since it
will produce different characteristics for each one of them (Breault, 2015). The following is an
explanation for each configuration: Table 2: The four basics configurations for the gasification Bed

Reading Comprehension And The Key Pillars Of Reading...
Reading comprehension is the ability to read the text, process what you just read and then be able to
understand what you read well enough to explain it to a fellow peer clearly and precisely. Reading
comprehension is a link in the chain that is the five pillars of reading instruction. The first pillar being
phonemes, second is phonics, third and fourth is fluency and vocabulary and finally the fifth is
comprehension. It s the caboose of the pillars you might say. While all of the pillars are vital to the
ability to read I ve witnessed many children able to read efficiently and fluently, but not able to
explain what they just read. Those children did not suffer from ADHD, and if some of them struggled
with comprehension it makes you assume that kids with diagnosed ADHD will most likely have an
even harder time. According to Kaprea Johnson, The ability to read and comprehend is a major
milestone in a child s life and has long standing effects throughout the lifespan (Johnson, 2013, p. 98).
With that being said, the importance of reading comprehension is pretty clear. In the experiment to test

Tylenol Ethics Case
Case Study #3
Tylenol: In 1982, seven people in Chicago died after taking Tylenol due to an unknown suspect lacing
the capsules with cyanide after the products reached the shelves. In the immediate aftermath, Tylenol s
commanding 37% market share dropped to just 7% nationwide, despite the problem being contained
to the Chicago area. Tylenol was not responsible for the tampering of the product, but to maintain the
product s reputation, Johnson Johnson pulled all of the Tylenol from the shelves, absorbing a loss of
more than $100 million dollars. Tylenol was successfully reintroduced with tamper resistant
packaging, discounts, and sales presentations to the medical community. The brand survived due to

The Goal Goldratt
The video The Goal by Goldratt identifies the concepts related to the theory of constraints as it relates
to throughput within the manufacturing environment. The video depicts the ideology that a process
can only move as fast as it slowest element. Often referred to as the choke point or bottleneck, it can
occur at the beginning, middle or end of the process. The bottleneck may be outdated equipment,
inventory inefficiencies, incompetence, and even workplace culture.
The take away from this video is obvious in a sense that it points out a process is only as strong as its
weakest link. In the video Alex asks workers to rearrange their breaks around the machine that

Discuss Inventory Management (Chapter 20) from the perspective of cost, customer satisfaction and
profitability. What is the Wal Mart approach to Inventory Management? Inventory costs are basically
categorized into several different elements, but the elements that are typically derive the most impact
to the bottom line are ordering costs and carrying costs. However, costs associated to shortages or
stock outs, the cost of replenishment, cost of logistics, and cost associated with loss, pilferage,
shrinkage and obsolescence are significant to profitability too.
Ordering costs are based on two different factors including the ordering of excess inventory or not
enough. In some instances, procurement departments are challenged with purchasing decisions
whereas vendors will offer better buying prices if they tend to order in larger quantities. Initially, the
cost savings may seem beneficial up front, however, far too often the actually savings is not ever
realized because the inventory becomes obsolete and written off as excess. On the contrary, ordering
insufficient amount of inventory can result in stock outs and loss of sales ultimately affecting

The Benefits Of Golf
What is golf? According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, golf is a game played on a large
open air course, in which a small hard ball is struck with a club into a series of small holes in the
ground. The main goal is to use the fewest possible strokes to complete the course. This activity of
hitting a dented ball with a stick demands the usage of 17 muscle groups to only make a golf swing
according to a study in the British Medical Journal; therefore, coordinated muscle use and burning
calories than gymnasts proves that golf is a sport and that golf is included as a sport. In order to swing
a golf club, one s body utilizes at least 17 various muscle groups in the coordinated movement of the

assume that golf is boring due to the lack of amount of movement and energy. Yet, in an actual match,
the TV broadcasts usually cut out the part where the players move around to other sections of the
course. Thus, it is a prejudice of thinking that golf does not require much physical movement. Critics
might argue that the real reason why golf may not be a sport is due to the fact that the regulation on

Smooth Sailing Non Conformity
Queens of the Stone Age are the writers for the song entitled Smooth Sailing. In the song we are
shown a single narrator speaking to the listener. The song revolves around a man who s removed the
need or want for a norm and status quo. One who has simply a need and want to be himself regardless.
In Queens of the Stone Ages Smooth Sailing the effects both negatively and positively of non
conformity are shown through the singers personal views, how it affects others, and the freeing nature
of non conformity. Why would people conform, and with that what makes non conformists different.

Women Still Can T Have It All By Anne-Marie Slaughter
Women can have it all is an abstract that has been pushed heavily in recent feminist movements.
Although, some believe that women do have the ability to have it all, with a family and career but,
Anne Marie Slaughter, president of New American Foundation, disagrees saying women can still not
have it all. She believes that women are still having to choose between a successful career and family.
Anne Marie Slaughter uses her own narration to prove her point, as well, as support from other news
sources and government officials. In Why Women Still Can t Have It All by Anne Marie Slaughter,
she used narration, a variety of voice, and style to make her argument, but, the narration made the
article seem opinionated, more than factual. First in this article, Slaughter presented her story of being
a director of policy planning, and how this motivated her to write the article. She explains her

Patriotism And Patriotism In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
Patriotism In Julius Caesar
Shakespeare s play, be that as it may, is more about legislative issues than it is about antiquated
legends, about the legislative issues of Rome as the chose government offered approach to tyranny. It s
a tale about patriotism and defilement, about connivances and partnerships. It s a tale about
administration and the complexity amongst opportunity and oppression.
As I read up on Julius Caesar before observing it, I found an assortment of sentiments on what the
play is about (not too sudden, really, since it is a play by Shakespeare). A few pundits take a gander at
the play as an announcement about the perils of an outright ruler they take a gander at the play s
execution in Elizabethan and Jacobean England as the most huge thing about it. Others focus in transit
the general population the swarm of Romans is depicted, and how their flightiness impacts occasions.
This play seems to have no saint in the exemplary sense, on the grounds that the activity rotates
around a few primary characters: Julius Caesar, Marcus Brutus, Caius Cassius, Mark Antony, Octavius
Caesar. On the off chance that you give careful consideration to the dialect and activity, however, a
hero emerges Brutus a heartbreaking saint who is fixed by his energetic resistance to the oppression of
a tyrant. He takes an interest in the plot to kill Caesar in light of the fact that, as he puts it, he adores
Rome more than he cherishes Caesar.

This deep tragedy in Adam s life left him in the realization of what kind of father he should be to his
son, and the path he is on with God. I will forgive those who have wronged. I will learn from my
mistakes, repent of my sins, and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God... As for me and my
house, we will serve the Lord (Kendrick). In a desperate time of grief, Adam chooses forgiveness to
those in the wronging toward Adam and his family. There is no significance to ignoring another s sins,
because God forgives all who have sinned. After Adam s daughter passed, God proved to Adam that
repenting will only lead to a burdened life and heart, but forgiveness of yourself and others will lead to
the gates of heaven. I now believe that God desires for every father to courageously step up and do
whatever it takes to be involved in the lives of his children...young lives and be a visual representation
of the character of God, their father in heaven (Kendrick). In a time of grief and heartache, it can be
difficult to reveal the reason God has brought a certain burden to life. Adam found his answer through
God, which was to live life as a follower of Jesus and to raise his children through the knowledge of
the Lord while being a visual representation of Him.
From religion in the 1600 s to religion today in pop culture, the love of faith and God has not changed.

Essay about Pride and Prejudice
Elizabeth and Juliet both reject their parents choice of husband. How are strong feeling presented by
the writers in these extracts? In Act 3 Scene 5 strong feelings are portrayed through out the scene. One
example of this is at the start of the scene Juliet shows strong feelings of grief towards Romeo s
departure. Yet let me weep for such a feeling loss. This shows that she misses Romeo although he has
only just left. The word loss gives off the impressing Juliet feels she will never see Romeo again and
that he is no longer hers. Another point in the scene her mood changes and she becomes very upset

Her maturity is made clear directly after her wedding night when she partakes in her first sexual
experience. Another point in Juliet s maturation is when she is willing to break away from The Nurse
after she says I think it best you married the County. This shows The Nurse is quite selfish and doesn t
care for Juliet s feelings or that she is already married to Romeo. The phrase I think emphasizes the
fact she only cares about her opinion. Having a nurse is a mark of childhood; by abandoning her nurse
and showing full loyalty towards her Romeo, Juliet shows full maturity and responsibility. In Pride
and Prejudice When Mr Collins proposes to Elizabeth she shows complete defiance as she refuses in
favour of waiting for someone who she actually loves. She tells him that to accept his proposals is
absolutely impossible as her feelings in every respect forbid it . Clearly she is not afraid to go against
what her mother wants and what is expected of her in society. Her harsh language and use of the word
forbid emphasises the force of her rejection. Much like Juliet, Elizabeth shows strong feelings of
love/attraction to someone whom her parent(s) are not aware of. Another strong feeling is how Mrs
Bennett is always feeling sorry for herself and her nerves and becomes very self centred. She is very
selfish in the sense she only cares about her future and not her daughter s happiness. The quote ... and

Cultural Heritage Of The French Tourism
Tourism in France is an important activity, both for the French who choose to spend their holidays,
and foreigners who come to stay. Thus, since 1990, France became the first tourist destination in the
world. The tourist attraction of France is due to the large number and wide variety of points of interest,
diversity of landscapes, the rich cultural and artistic heritage, the temperate climate and ease of access
and transport infrastructure, but also the important equipment in the country and varied reception
facilities (hotels, amusement parks...). Thus, each department is a French tourist department with
several points of interest. France has a rich well known cultural heritage, favored by many sites listed
as World Heritage of UNESCO. The French tourism has many different facets and positive economic
impacts and France makes every effort to maintain the liveliness of this important asset. The history of
tourism in France began around 1760 in the south of France in Hyeres, becoming a common winter
resort renowned among UK thanks to its relatively mild Mediterranean climate. In 1910 Alexandre
Millerand, the French Minister of Public Works at the time, created the first tourism office, with the
desire to promote those places that must be contemplated and visited by many. The intellectual vision
that covers his entourage will then change since we will be more aware of our surroundings. We
decide consciously to build tourism in these places. However, the trip is

In this experiment, I m going to be dropping eggs from four different heights and see if it affects the
egg splatter. Gravity: This is the force that pulls objects towards each other. On our planet, objects are
pulled towards the center of the earth, which causes them to fall downwards. Drag: Often this is also
called Air Resistance. Drag is when forces are acting in the opposite direction of the motion of an
object. Impact: Impact is the high force (or shock) applied over a short period of time when 2 or more
objects collide. The effect depends on the relative velocity (or speed) of the two objects to one
another. An object at rest tends to remain at rest and an object in motion tends to continue moving in a
straight line at constant speed unless an outside force acts upon it. The egg will not fall unless it is
dropped (an object at rest). While at rest, the egg has potential energy. The egg gains potential energy
as it is transported to a higher elevation for performing the egg drop experiment. Once dropped, it will
fall. This demonstrates kinetic energy. It will be acted upon by the following forces: Gravity: which
will pull it toward the earth and cause its speed to accelerate. Drag: depending upon how the egg
protector is built, this will vary, but drag will slow the fall of the egg

Title
A study measuring oxygen production of Spinacea oleracea using an oxygen electrode in response to
varying light intensity and the effect of Diuron on rate of photosynthesis
Introduction
Photosynthesis is a fundamental process that utilises light to produce energy. The energy is initially
captured in the form of ATP and NADH in the Light Reaction. The Calvin Cycle then uses stored
energy from ATP and NADH to produce energy in the form of sugar to store or to use. Water is split
during the Light Reaction into its elemental forms, and oxygen and hydrogen are released as by
products (Renger and Renger, 2008). To use free energy to bind oxygen to hydrogen to make water,
the thylakoid membrane produces ATP using the electron transport chain. Photosynthesis produces
oxygen and respiration uses oxygen. (Blankenship, 1992)
The rate of photosynthesis varies due to several factors, including the amount of carbon dioxide
present, light intensity, and the type of organism (Hall and Rao, 1999). In this study, we investigated
the rate of photosynthesis in the water plant S. oleracea. The amount of carbon dioxide (in the form of
NaHCO3) remained constant, but the amount of light varied. The rate of oxygen produced via the
oxygen electrode apparatus and software indicated the rate of photosynthesis.
The equation for photosynthesis
12H2O+6CO2→6H2O+C6H12O6+6O2

Evaluation Of A Client With A Potential For Ppd
Timing is key! It is outstanding to know that PPD is definitely treatable, especially when caught early.
Two well known assessments can be used when evaluating a client with a potential for PPD; these two
tests are the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and the Postpartum Depression Screening
Scale (PDSS). The EPDS is used as a screening assessment tool, not a diagnostic tool; It is used to

Agricultural Extension Practices For A Farming Community
The previous chapter reviewed the agricultural extension practices where extension plays an important
role in facilitating changes in a farming community. The literature indicated that there are a lot of
extension approaches due to change of ideas, purposes vary, and paradigm shift. It appears that,
agricultural extension involves many different approaches and methodologies. And it is managed and
delivered through a variety of institutional arrangements. It seems that no single approach best suit
extension development in all circumstances.
The purpose of this chapter is to consider farming from the perspective of the farmer and how such
consideration might benefit extension approaches and outcomes. The farming environment is complex

Nevertheless, after the introduction, the chapter begins by clarifying what kind of farmers this study
refers to by defining smallholder farmer, elements of smallholder, and the farming environment as to
understand and identify some key variables in farming environment that will enhance our
investigation of farmers livelihood.
4.1 Introduction
This chapter identifies various factors that affect farmers decision making concerning their way of life.
The sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA) is a way to improve understanding of the way of life of
rural people (IFAD, 2011). It draws on the main factors (internal and external) that affect rural people
s livelihoods and the natural relationships between these factors. SLA is based on the concept of
capability, equity and sustainability (Chambers Conway, 1992).This study seeks to consider SLA as a
framework to help understand the main factors that affect cocoa farmers livelihoods, the relationships
between these factors and how decisions are made on growing cocoa.
In this chapter the diffusion of innovation model, particularly the variables which influences an
innovation s rate of adoption (after Rogers, 2003), and elements of smallholder farmer by HLPE
(2013) (see Figure 11) will be viewed through SLA. The commonly known variables determining the
rate of technology adoption in agriculture were listed by Rogers (2003). These variables include
perceived attributes of

Saint Augustine s Life Of Augustine
Saint Augustine
The Life of Augustine
Augustine was born in North Africa in AD 354 in the city of Thagaste. His father, Patricius, was a
pagan and his mother, Monica, a devoted Catholic who relentlessly prayed for her son s salvation.
Saint Augustine of Hippo wrote Confessions between AD 397 and AD 398. He is regarded as a great
theologian, philosopher, and one of most prolific Latin author s of many works. Augustine was
schooled at Tagaste and Madaura and later at Carthage where he became interested in Latin literature
and became a teacher of literature and public speaking. Later in Milan he converted to Catholicism
and was baptized, ordained, and eventually became the Bishop of Hippo. He is still considered an
influential, but very controversial bishop of the Catholic Church (Smither, 2009).
Confessions of Saint Augustine
Augustine wrote Confessions while he was a bishop at Hippo. The book was written using a peculiar
and very original style. It is a type of conversation from Augustine directed towards God. The book is
a form of autobiography, written in thirteen books that are bound together by the theme of God s grace
and redemption. His own life is testimony to this as God s love is seen in each stage he went through
along his journey back to the truth (Pusey, 2014).
Throughout the entire book Augustine uses philosophical and theological reasoning; he also includes
an exegesis of biblical scripture. In the first nine books are written as an autobiography where he

The Poem ‘Mother To Son’ By Langston Hughes First Published
The poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes first published in 1922 and The Road not Taken by
Robert Frost have a number of similarities. These poems are parables in which experienced people
give advice about life choices. In both poems, the personas were initially in some trouble in life but
they currently have no remorse for the way they made choices and lived. Also, both poems have a
moral lesson that life may not always be easy but at the end, the choices that people make will
determine their destiny. However, the poems are considerably different in their writing style, diction,
the point of view, tone and imagery. This essay aims to compare and contrast the two poems. Though
having similarities in the theme and use of symbolism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He, however, chose the road that was less favorable to people. This road represents a road of hard
work or integrity since majority of people love short cuts to life. In the end, the speaker is not only
relieved but also proud that he took that road. He says I shall be telling this with a sigh (Frost 16). The
reason for him telling the story is to give advice because he is proud of the decision that he made.
Also, Hughes and Frost both use symbolism and imagery to bring out the picture about life. For
Hughes, the stairs symbolize the life life that has been lived through pressing on because of the
difficulties and uncertainties involved. The mother symbolizes the old generation of people who are
experienced and their role in giving advice. The old generation is familiar with life challenges that the
younger generation, symbolized by the son, are undergoing. They provide hope for the young
generation. The dark corners without light symbolize times of uncertainties, the corner symbolizes
changes experienced in life, and the climbing symbolizes difficult situations requiring extra effort and
so on. Reading through the poem a person can easily picture the life that the speaker lived.
Conversely, Frost also uses symbolism in his poem. The divergent roads that emerge as the persona is
traveling symbolize a dilemma in life. The persona needed to make a tough choice in life for it was
impossible to live a double life.

Use Of Social Media On The World
You are driving in the car with your family, it is silent, and you are thoroughly intrigued in your
Twitter feed. You decide to take a snapchat, instead of being present in the moment. You argue through
text with your best friend, instead of meeting and talking it out. In our world today, technology is a
necessity. Smartphones have given people the ability to connect globally, through apps, allowing us to
connect to those we could not before. It may seem hard to believe, but technological communication
was only apparent after the 1960 s. From letters that would take months to get to its destination, to
now simply sending a text that will deliver in a matter of seconds. While face to face communication
began to fade, the use of pigeon delivered letters became obsolete. Once technology was discovered,
communication gradually transformed, and is still developing. With the world becoming so connected,
being thousands of miles away is no longer a barrier. The overall use of social media is leading to the
decline in face to face interaction. As technology begins to develop more, the less time we spend
verbally communicating with one another. A recent study from USC Annenberg School, found that the
percentage of people participating in less face to face communication rose from 8% in 2000 to 34% in
2011 (USC Digital Future). Even during the most crucial times, such as dinner time, many families
substitute technology for conversations. Being subjected to this behavior, kids

The Good Life In The Gospel Of Wealth
The term the good life can be viewed in different ways. Although, the more powerful meaning
regarding the sources would be when others are jealous of your own success. In other words, they can
be considered haters. Once you reach this point, you sense accomplishments because it shows you did
something with your life. More importantly, the good life can be lived well if you re able to help
others while you re stable and able to treat yourself. In The Gospel of Wealth, Andrew Carnegie
speaks about poverty in our communities and how the rich have a responsibility. That responsibility is
to use their wealth to promote a better future, but this doesn t necessarily mean giving money to
homeless. An important aspect of this is what actually

The Epic Tale Of How The Desolate West Became An...
Rivers of Empire tells the epic tale of how the desolate West became an irrigational Mecca for the
United States of America. Donald Worster begins his tale by describing how water irrigation has been
used throughout history and how those methods compared to the modern American Western usage. I
found Worster s text to be a very solid method of telling the history of water irrigation, but like with
many of the texts in this class, I am left with a very pessimistic feeling about the future of the subject.
Worster focuses a lot of attention early on in his text on Karl Wittfogel and his theory of hydraulic
societies. Wittfogel argues essentially that he who controls the water has the power. I tend to agree
with this argument because of the history that Worster presents in his texts. Ancient states used the
labor power of the corvee, unpaid labor maintaining the early irrigation systems that the state s
controlled, in a feudal manner to control the masses (40). The state would leave these peasant s too
weak to fight against the system, but just strong enough to keep the water flowing (41). Wittfogel
would live long enough to refute his own ideology, but not long enough to stand behind it.
We see this usage of these hydraulic societies carried out in the modern American west, though few
would dare call them such. A powerful few step into power, with the promise of wealth and prosperity
for all, only to deliver larger wealth for themselves and a corrupt labor and land

How Did Latin American Culture Develop
The term Latin America encompasses not only South and Central America but the Caribbean also. The
many different ethnicities and cultures present in Latin American music make it diverse and hard to
categorise.Latinos have helped bring these sounds to U.S. audiences, and just like European
Americans and African Americans they have contributed new musical flavors that sprang from their
experiences on U.S. soil. Music in the 1940s was only broadcast through radio and TV. Latin
American music is mainly influenced in Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco, but each
city express the music in their own way.
By the 1920s Los Angeles was booming in Latin music with recording and live performances by
Latino artists from the Southwest, New York and the Caribbean. The styles of music that they had in
LA we re Banda rap, Chicano Rock, Corrido, Latin jazz, Latin Rock. The vigorous R B, rock and roll,
punk and hip hop scenes of L.A. s Chicano Eastside have helped shape American popular music, even
as the constant infusion of immigrant laborers from Mexico and Central America continue to provide
new musical ideas and identities. Almost half of Los Angeles County s 9 million residents are ... Show

Modern Heroes In Dante s Inferno And Beowulf
Although when most hear the phrase modern hero they primarily imagine heroes from today s time;
however, that does not mean ancient heroes, such as Beowulf and Dante the Pilgrim, are unable to
display the same traits as today s heroes. The most common traits among modern heroes consist of
people who are capable of some sort of supernatural ability that separates them from everyone else,
selflessness or generosity, and courageousness. These traits are portrayed by the main characters of
both Dante s Inferno and Beowulf. Although they both demonstrate heroism, Beowulf is portrayed as
more of a modern hero than Dante because he displays all three of the common characteristics of a
modern hero while Dante only displays two of them. A key component ... Show more content on

Beowulf, being a war hero, displays his courage every time he goes to fight a monster whether it be
Grendel or the dragon. Beowulf s willingness to go into battle against creatures that could potentially
kill him is not something most would do especially to the extent that he does. For example, before the
battle with the dragon Beowulf tells his men at arms to remain here on the barrow, safe in your armor.
. . this fight is not yours (Beowulf 2529 2533). Beowulf is telling his men to stay back while he fights
the dragon alone, that takes a tremendous amount of bravery to go against a fire breathing dragon
alone with no back up. This fearless attitude that Beowulf has is not shared with Dante. Dante
throughout the Inferno is shown to faint on multiple occasion due to his fear and shock. For instance,
after Dante hears Charon speak in Canto III of the Inferno the twilight country shook so violently, the
terror of it bathes me with sweat even in memory. . . like one whom sleep comes over in a swoon, I
stumbled into the darkness and went down (Inferno 3. 127 130). So, in other words, when Dante is
over come with fear or anxiety he passes out and is unable to act. That does not display
courageousness, but instead it shows his weakness of being unable to control his fear. Imagine if
Beowulf acted in a similar manner when facing up against the dragon. He would have not been able to
defeat the dragon and the people of city would have continued to be terrorized by the dragon. This
lack of courage displayed by Dante is what sets him apart from Beowulf and prevents him from being
a true modern

The Osi And Open Systems Interconnection
The OSI, Open Systems Interconnection, model was first introduced in 1984 and was design to be a
model and teaching tool to help better understand the rules of networking that systems must undergo
to communicate. The OSI model consist of seven hierarchical layers that defines the path that data
must travel. These layers are: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and
Application. The first and lowest level of the model is the Physical layer. The physical layer consists
of the basic networking hardware transmission technologies of a network (Osi model.com). Here you
could find specifications for telecommunication like types of wired cables such as; copper, optical, or
coaxial. In this layer, you would configure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third layer of the OSI model is the network layer and is where the routers and layer 3 switches
would be. This layer is responsible for controlling subnets and deciding which path the data should
take based on certain conditions. This layer is also responsible for IP (internet protocol) addresses, this
includes both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Packets in this layer identify where the traffic originated
(source IP address) and where it is going (destination IP address) (Gibson 166). In short, the OSI layer
three network layer is responsible for connections, host addressing, and message forwarding.
Protocols that operate on this layer are IPsec and ICMP. Layer four of the OSI model consist of the
transport layer. In this layer, the protocols in this layer provide a host to host communication servers
for applications (osi model.com). Within the layer four transport layer, we have TCP (transmission
control protocol) and UDP (user datagram protocol) protocols. TCP is a more reliable protocol in ways
of guaranteeing the delivery of the IP traffic. With TCP, you have a three way handshake in place,
meaning that when you send a segment you should receive an acknowledgement that the segment was
received. If it was not received, then you could resend. When using UDP, guarantee delivery of
packets is not the main concern. The main advantage of UDP is that

Brief Description Of Manila, Philippines
BODY
I. Brief Description of Manila, Philippines.
Manila is the capital of the Philippines and it is located in Luzon; which is the largest island in the
archipelago. Due to its convenient location for a trade route, it is known as the Pearl of the Orient.
Before Manila was rebuilt, the city suffered many episodes of destruction during World War II
(WWII) where the Japanese invasion occurred. Even though Manila is believed to be one of Southeast
Asia s best capital cities for its breathtaking views and culture, it has its flaws. Manila is filled with
crime, corruption, overpopulation, and the daily inevitable and cumbersome traffic jams. Yet, this city
is still the biggest, most developed and prosperous when compared to the other cities in the
Philippines.
II. The Importance of Preserving Historical Landmarks
Historical landmarks are just as important as every other building that has ever existed. They all have
a purpose; yet people still choose to demolish these structures. It shows a lack of respect towards the
architectural monuments. Most believe that creating brand new buildings is cheaper and more
beneficial rather than maintaining the ancient ones but it is the opposite. You can save money by
preserving them; building a brand new structure costs more.

  • 2. Globalization Of Dreams And Its Effects On Dreams Globalization of Dreams The focus of this study is to continue previous research relating the significance of cultures and dreams. These studies have set out to show what how much of an effect culture has on dreams. To measure this, other researchers have recorded participants typical dreams. These studies have helped us to understand some of the differences in beliefs, values, and structure of other cultures as well as the differences and similarities. Through analyzing the differences and similarities of our various cultures we learn what humans share in values as a whole and how our society influences our thinking and actions. By interviewing two people from two different collectivistic cultures, there should be a great deal of similarities between the two. Any differences recorded found will be derived from individual perspectives rather than culture. The goal of the research is to show culture doesn t heavily influence our dreams but rather individual perceptions of the world around them do. There isn t a significant difference in typical dreams between cultures, rather researchers tend to agree that culture doesn t have much of an effect on dreams and it has more to do with our individual perception of our day (Jaenicke 2009). In Griffith, Miyago, and Tago s (1958) study of The Universality of Typical Dreams: Japanese vs. Americans, statistics showed out of the 34 typical dreams compared between the two, 14 held a significant difference of a .01 confidence ... • 3. Henry Ford Started the Car Revolution Henry Ford Who is the person that started the car revolution? Who is the person that introduced us to the world of automobiles? The answer is Henry Ford. Henry Ford was a successful man that created the Ford automobile. Henry Ford s company is still making great profit in business. Henry Ford wanted to stop World War II by creating tanks, jeeps, and other armed forces but it still didn t work. Still, Ford s automobiles were affordable and he became a very rich and a well known man. Henry has achieved the creation of the V8 engine and was able to build the model T in 24 seconds with the assembly line that he introduced. Because of the assembly line, there were people that called him Liner. These are only two of the many achievements that Henry Ford had. Henry Ford s life was an unexpected journey for both the people and him. Many events occurred to him that changed his life such as becoming very wealthy. It was hard for Ford to start from the beginning. Henry Ford s early life was a life that wasn t expected from a noble man such as him. Henry Ford was born on a farm in Greenfield Township, Michigan, in July 30, 1863 and died in Fair Lane, Michigan in April 7, 1947. Henry Ford s father was William Ford, who married Mary Ford. Henry Ford s father gave him a watch, which made him later gain the reputation for fixing watches in his neighborhood. In 1879, Henry Ford left home and started his career as a mechanist. • 4. Symbolism In The Handmaids Tale The Handmaid s Tale The Handmaid s Tale is a story told in the voice of Offred, who is the character of the handmaid , which is described best by women who are being forced and used for reproduction because they can make babies. In the Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood uses symbolism, which is the use of symbols to represent ideas, to show the reader the handmaid s role in society of Gilead. The handmaids were women who had broken the law of Gilead, and forced into having sex and reproducing for the higher class. They had no rights and were watched constantly so this created a very nervous atmosphere. This horrible way of living is most likely why Offred never fully made the reader aware of the horrible life she was forced to live because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, specific women have been chosen as handmaids to have children with the country s top Commanders. My red skirt is hitched up to my waist, though no higher. Below it the Commander is fucking. What he is fucking is the lower part of my body. I do not say making love, because this is not what he is doing. Copulating too would be inaccurate, because it would imply two people and only one is involved. Nor does rape cover it: nothing is going on here that I haven t signed up for. There wasn t a lot of choice but there was some, and this is what I chose (Atwood 94). The Handmaid s Tale is narrated in the first person from the point of view of Offred, a woman who married a divorced man and had a child living the romantic life she always dreamed of. Divorce was however forbidden in the society, so her marriage was not considered appropriate, but her only saving grace was that she had shown the government she was fertile and able to bear children, so she is given the chance to become a Handmaid instead of being sent away until death. Offred chooses on her own free will to be a Handmaid but was it free will? Being a handmaid meant engaging in forced sexual intercourse with her Commander once a month when she is fertile so that hopefully she can get pregnant with his child. The reader following with Offred and women who are not Handmaids know that this forced sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Building A Montessori Trade School Essay I have been super interested in Africa since I was a young child. I used to watch the National Geographic channel and documentaries more than cartoon network or the Disney channel starting at around the age of six years old. I believe this greatly contributed to my fascination for the cradle of civilization and indigenous societies. Hopefully one day I plan to build a Montessori trade school somewhere in Africa teaching aquaponics, organic farming, coding, CAD and other specialized trades. Therefore, I chose the ancient ruins of the Great Zimbabwe to learn more about the people and history of South Africa. The city s name comes from the Shona term dzimbabwe which means houses of stone. The Great Zimbabwe Ruins are made of hand hewn granite and are located five hundred miles north of Victoria near the border of modern day Zimbabwe. The ruins span one thousand five hundred kilometers in size which is equivalent to one thousand eight hundred acres. It is the largest ancient structure south of the Sahara Desert. The ruins are made up of three main structures. The Hill Complex, The Great Enclosure and The Valley Ruins. The people of Great Zimbabwe most likely worshipped Mwari the most powerful god in the Shona religion. The Hill Complex is believed to have been the spiritual and religious area of the city. It is two hundred sixty two feet above ground and extends three hundred twenty eight feet by one hundred forty eight feet. The Great Enclosures outer wall is eight hundred ... • 6. Margaret Paston Letters There are thousands of surviving letters written by members of the Paston family, who lived in East Anglia in the fifteenth century. Margaret Paston, an heiress of the Mautby family who married the lawyer John Paston I in 1440, wrote many of these letters. This particular letter, written in a plain and conversational style expected of personal correspondences of this period , deals with the secret marriage of Margaret s daughter Margery Paston to the family bailiff Richard Calle. It was written September tenth, 1469, to Sir John Paston II, Margaret s son, who was working as a Justice of the Peace in Norfolk . Margaret acted as a business partner with her husband as he was often away working in London. The letters she wrote to him often detail the ways she is upholding her role as wife and mother, as well as casting dispersions on those who fail to live up to society s standards for conduct. As the wife of a lawyer, she most certainly knew the value of written evidence, and many of her letters may be looked at as her way of proving she was fulfilling her obligations to her family . ... • 11. The Horrifying Steps Of The Final Solution The Horrifying Steps of the Final Solution Beginning in the year 1933, life became difficult for all non Aryans living in Europe. That was the year Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany. His anti Semitic principles served as the basis of the Nazi party and its supporters. Although their ideas were opposed by many, the Nazis managed to carry out The Final Solution with the goal of ridding Europe of Jews, gypsies, Soviets, and homosexuals. One prominent figure was Heinrich Himmler who constructed the Final Solution : a written document that stated the steps needed to be taken in order to establish a pure Aryan race. This solution consisted of isolating Jews in ghettos, sending non Aryans to concentration and extermination camps, and forcing them to undergo starvation, thirst, shootings, and extended suffering. The various steps within this document each served a different purpose and implemented a new kind of suffering upon the prisoners. New family roles were established and new outlooks on life and religion were brought about due to the scares they experienced. The Holocaust transformed the lives of many through the daily hardships in its ghettos, concentration and extermination camps, and demolished post war Europe. The narrator must have relationship problems because she is very conflicted in this poem. Both of these seem to have a struggling relationship with her. She compares her dad to a number of things: vampire, devil, and a fascist. Throughout the poem, she only speaks of her daddy and suddenly turns the table and starts talking about how she s killed two men. These two men were both killed by the narrator. In the beginning, when talking about her father s death, the narrator makes it sound like her just died of natural causes. But by the end it sounds like she killed him and her husband. In this poem, the narrator had a struggling relationship with her father. In this poem, the narrator goes back and forth about her relationship with her father. One moment, she hates him and criticizes the way he treated her, and the next she praises him. So when someone writes a book they know it will not please everyone. However, do any authors ever think, Not only can my book be ill received, but it might even get banned. Now what does it mean for a book to be banned? Well it means that reading said book is not allowed either by school, state or even country. To enforce the banning libraries and bookstores will not have the books available for people to check out. • 15. The Biological Approach The main assumption of the biological approach is behaviour and experiences can be explained by biological changes in the body. This approach focusses on the investigation of the brain, nervous system and other biological factors such as hormones; whereas the main assumption of the cognitive approach is that information received from our senses is processed by the brain and that this processing influences how we behave or at least justifies how we behave the way we do. Cognitive processes are examples of hypothetical constructs researchers cannot directly observe processes such as thinking but we can infer what a person is thinking based on how they act (behavioural patterns). Some key researchers in the biological approach are Maguire et. Al (2000) Navigation related structural changes in the hippocampi of taxi drivers, and Sperry (1968) Hemisphere disconnection and unity in consciousness. Some key researchers in the cognitive approach are Loftus and Palmer (1974) eyewitness testimony and Baron Cohen (1997) Autism. There are a few similarities between the two approaches, for example the biological approach likes to use variants of laboratory experiments from quasi (natural) to experiments in highly artificial settings. This is done so that the researchers can take advantage of the naturally occurring variables or can change them easily to suit the experiment and control any extraneous or confounding variables, and can therefore easily establish cause and effect. ... • 16. The Central Nervous System Famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson once said, Everything we do, every thought we ve ever had, is produced by the human brain. But exactly how it operates remains one of the biggest unsolved mysteries, and it seems the more we probe its secrets, the more surprises we find (BrainyQuote). The brain is like a galaxy. There is general knowledge of the universe; however, new secrets of planets, moons, and stars are discovered on a daily basis. Similarly, scientists know the basic structure and functions of the brain, but new aspects of the brain are revealed everyday. The brain is part of the central nervous system (CNS). Its role is to receive signals, decode the signals, and send response signals down the spinal cord to the rest of the body. Signals are received from different parts of the brain depending on which sensory organs receive stimuli (Carter, Gray 697). Once sensory organs receive stimuli, stimuli are transmitted to sensory memories, which are physiological parts of the nervous system [that directly sensors to the brain] (Kinster, Grobstein). Sensory memories then pass selected stimuli to hippocampus in the forebrain, and the hippocampus sends the integrated memory to neurons in the form of electrical impulses (Mohs). • 18. Analysis Of The Book Redeployment By Phil Klay Through history further and further studies are ongoing into the unseen horror. Some say it is caused directly in relation to combat; others may say that it is from the images seen. In the book Redeployment by Phil Klay, he develops several stories from fictitious Marine Corps veterans that represent veterans one may encounter in the real world. Phil Klay s book contains stories of relationships at home falling apart all the way to the high stress of patrols as Marines. With these stories it better shows the unseen horrors of war. Many veterans return home with a serious disorder. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is the by product of war, and people need to know more about it to help our returning hero s. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD for short, is very real. It does not solely affect soldiers either. For example, my father, a retired firefighter, relives moments from when he worked at certain times when images are triggered. However, the modern soldier is more directly associated and found to have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As Dexter Filkins, a former Baghdad correspondent for the New York Times, stated in his review on Redeployment Armed conflict so fundamentally alters the environment it takes hold of that no aspect of life escapes undistorted: not love, not friendship, not sleep, not trust, not conversation. Therefore meaning when most veterans return home, nothing is seen in the same light again. Phil Klay outlines several examples of this. Phil Klay is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. A Brief Note On The Gas Mixture Of Hydrogen And Carbon... 1.2.3 Gasification and Syngas Syngas is a gas mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, which are products from gasfireing any hydrocarbon material such as coal at a high pressure and temperature, 30 bar and 1500 °K. The present of the oxygen is the primary difference between gasification and combustion. When a feed gasfire, the oxygen or air is injected in small amount allowing part of the feed to burn completely which supply the required heat and pressure, then, the heat will break down the feed into synthesis gas (Higman Burgt, 2003). This process consists of six main reactions: Table 1: Gasification main reactions Reaction Process Chemical Formula Change in Enthalpy Gasification with Oxygen C + ½ O2 → CO 3,922 Btu/lb C Combustion with Oxygen C + O2 → CO2 14,111 Btu/lb C Gasification with Carbon Dioxide C + CO2 → 2 CO 6,267 Btu/lb C Gasification with Steam C + H2O → CO + H2 4,750 Btu/lb C Gasification with Hydrogen C + 2 H2 → CH4 2,672 Btu/lb C Water Gas Shift CO + H2O → CO2 + H2 650 Btu/lb CO There are four basic configurations for the gasification. Reading comprehension is the ability to read the text, process what you just read and then be able to understand what you read well enough to explain it to a fellow peer clearly and precisely. Reading comprehension is a link in the chain that is the five pillars of reading instruction. The first pillar being phonemes, second is phonics, third and fourth is fluency and vocabulary and finally the fifth is comprehension. It s the caboose of the pillars you might say. While all of the pillars are vital to the ability to read I ve witnessed many children able to read efficiently and fluently, but not able to explain what they just read. Those children did not suffer from ADHD, and if some of them struggled with comprehension it makes you assume that kids with diagnosed ADHD will most likely have an even harder time. According to Kaprea Johnson, The ability to read and comprehend is a major milestone in a child s life and has long standing effects throughout the lifespan (Johnson, 2013, p. 98). With that being said, the importance of reading comprehension is pretty clear. In the experiment to test whether or not ADHD has any affect on reading comprehension Johnson (2013) included 129 elementary students ranging from third through sixth grade. The students were analyzed through some comprehension tests that measured their ability to read and then understand what it was that they were reading. However, costs associated to shortages or stock outs, the cost of replenishment, cost of logistics, and cost associated with loss, pilferage, shrinkage and obsolescence are significant to profitability too. Ordering costs are based on two different factors including the ordering of excess inventory or not enough. In some instances, procurement departments are challenged with purchasing decisions whereas vendors will offer better buying prices if they tend to order in larger quantities. As I read up on Julius Caesar before observing it, I found an assortment of sentiments on what the play is about (not too sudden, really, since it is a play by Shakespeare). Her maturity is made clear directly after her wedding night when she partakes in her first sexual experience. Having a nurse is a mark of childhood; by abandoning her nurse and showing full loyalty towards her Romeo, Juliet shows full maturity and responsibility. MGC 2016 Name: Kellyanne Scott Smith Student Number: a1703467 Word Count: Title A study measuring oxygen production of Spinacea oleracea using an oxygen electrode in response to varying light intensity and the effect of Diuron on rate of photosynthesis Introduction Photosynthesis is a fundamental process that utilises light to produce energy. The energy is initially captured in the form of ATP and NADH in the Light Reaction. The Calvin Cycle then uses stored energy from ATP and NADH to produce energy in the form of sugar to store or to use. Water is split during the Light Reaction into its elemental forms, and oxygen and hydrogen are released as by products (Renger and Renger, 2008). To use free energy to bind oxygen to hydrogen to make water, the thylakoid membrane produces ATP using the electron transport chain. Photosynthesis produces oxygen and respiration uses oxygen. (Blankenship, 1992) The rate of photosynthesis varies due to several factors, including the amount of carbon dioxide present, light intensity, and the type of organism (Hall and Rao, 1999). In this study, we investigated the rate of photosynthesis in the water plant S. oleracea. The amount of carbon dioxide (in the form of NaHCO3) remained constant, but the amount of light varied. The rate of oxygen produced via the oxygen electrode apparatus and software indicated the rate of photosynthesis. • 40. Evaluation Of A Client With A Potential For Ppd Timing is key! It is outstanding to know that PPD is definitely treatable, especially when caught early. Two well known assessments can be used when evaluating a client with a potential for PPD; these two tests are the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and the Postpartum Depression Screening Scale (PDSS). The EPDS is used as a screening assessment tool, not a diagnostic tool; It is used to pull out women who may need follow up care. This assessment should be completed preferably twice, but at least once. The best time is 6 to 12 weeks after birth. It is a pivotal point that the nurse explains when utilizing this tool that it is not referring to just the current day, but to the previous seven days. EPDS is a 10 item ... With good observation, the nurse has the opportunity to recognize difficulties the new mother may be experiencing (Cavalcanti, Marques, Guimaraes, de Oliveira Mangueira, da Silva Frazao, Perrilli, 2014) What Should be Done Next A way to significantly decrease issues from PPD is for the nurse to make weekly phone calls or postpartum home visits; this could potentially save the life of the newborn or the mother herself (Lowdermilk, 2016). The nurse should also work closely with the family to ensure all areas are covered; for the areas that are not, the nurse should encourage the family and friends of the mother to help out until she has gotten through this tough time. Not only is the new mother experiencing changes, but the partner is also. The nurse should provide opportunities that are nonjudgmental for the partner to express their concerns and feelings, strategies for coping, and motivation to continue support the mother (Lowdermilk, 2016). Agricultural Extension Practices For A Farming Community The previous chapter reviewed the agricultural extension practices where extension plays an important role in facilitating changes in a farming community. The literature indicated that there are a lot of extension approaches due to change of ideas, purposes vary, and paradigm shift. It appears that, agricultural extension involves many different approaches and methodologies. And it is managed and delivered through a variety of institutional arrangements. It seems that no single approach best suit extension development in all circumstances. The purpose of this chapter is to consider farming from the perspective of the farmer and how such consideration might benefit extension approaches and outcomes. Nevertheless, after the introduction, the chapter begins by clarifying what kind of farmers this study refers to by defining smallholder farmer, elements of smallholder, and the farming environment as to understand and identify some key variables in farming environment that will enhance our investigation of farmers livelihood. 4.1 Introduction This chapter identifies various factors that affect farmers decision making concerning their way of life. The sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA) is a way to improve understanding of the way of life of rural people (IFAD, 2011). It draws on the main factors (internal and external) that affect rural people s livelihoods and the natural relationships between these factors. SLA is based on the concept of capability, equity and sustainability (Chambers Conway, 1992).This study seeks to consider SLA as a framework to help understand the main factors that affect cocoa farmers livelihoods, the relationships between these factors and how decisions are made on growing cocoa. In this chapter the diffusion of innovation model, particularly the variables which influences an innovation s rate of adoption (after Rogers, 2003), and elements of smallholder farmer by HLPE (2013) (see Figure 11) will be viewed through SLA. The commonly known variables determining the rate of technology adoption in agriculture were listed by Rogers (2003). These variables include perceived attributes of ... • 43. Saint Augustine s Life Of Augustine Saint Augustine The Life of Augustine Augustine was born in North Africa in AD 354 in the city of Thagaste. His father, Patricius, was a pagan and his mother, Monica, a devoted Catholic who relentlessly prayed for her son s salvation. Saint Augustine of Hippo wrote Confessions between AD 397 and AD 398. He is regarded as a great theologian, philosopher, and one of most prolific Latin author s of many works. Augustine was schooled at Tagaste and Madaura and later at Carthage where he became interested in Latin literature and became a teacher of literature and public speaking. Later in Milan he converted to Catholicism and was baptized, ordained, and eventually became the Bishop of Hippo. He is still considered an influential, but very controversial bishop of the Catholic Church (Smither, 2009). Confessions of Saint Augustine Augustine wrote Confessions while he was a bishop at Hippo. The book was written using a peculiar and very original style. It is a type of conversation from Augustine directed towards God. The book is a form of autobiography, written in thirteen books that are bound together by the theme of God s grace and redemption. His own life is testimony to this as God s love is seen in each stage he went through along his journey back to the truth (Pusey, 2014). Throughout the entire book Augustine uses philosophical and theological reasoning; he also includes an exegesis of biblical scripture. • 44. The Poem ‘Mother To Son’ By Langston Hughes First Published The poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes first published in 1922 and The Road not Taken by Robert Frost have a number of similarities. These poems are parables in which experienced people give advice about life choices. In both poems, the personas were initially in some trouble in life but they currently have no remorse for the way they made choices and lived. Also, both poems have a moral lesson that life may not always be easy but at the end, the choices that people make will determine their destiny. However, the poems are considerably different in their writing style, diction, the point of view, tone and imagery. This essay aims to compare and contrast the two poems. This road represents a road of hard work or integrity since majority of people love short cuts to life. In the end, the speaker is not only relieved but also proud that he took that road. He says I shall be telling this with a sigh (Frost 16). The reason for him telling the story is to give advice because he is proud of the decision that he made. Also, Hughes and Frost both use symbolism and imagery to bring out the picture about life. For Hughes, the stairs symbolize the life life that has been lived through pressing on because of the difficulties and uncertainties involved. The mother symbolizes the old generation of people who are experienced and their role in giving advice. The old generation is familiar with life challenges that the younger generation, symbolized by the son, are undergoing. They provide hope for the young generation. The dark corners without light symbolize times of uncertainties, the corner symbolizes changes experienced in life, and the climbing symbolizes difficult situations requiring extra effort and so on. Reading through the poem a person can easily picture the life that the speaker lived. Conversely, Frost also uses symbolism in his poem. The divergent roads that emerge as the persona is traveling symbolize a dilemma in life. The persona needed to make a tough choice in life for it was impossible to live a double life. ... • 45. Use Of Social Media On The World You are driving in the car with your family, it is silent, and you are thoroughly intrigued in your Twitter feed. You decide to take a snapchat, instead of being present in the moment. You argue through text with your best friend, instead of meeting and talking it out. In our world today, technology is a necessity. Smartphones have given people the ability to connect globally, through apps, allowing us to connect to those we could not before. It may seem hard to believe, but technological communication was only apparent after the 1960 s. From letters that would take months to get to its destination, to now simply sending a text that will deliver in a matter of seconds. While face to face communication began to fade, the use of pigeon delivered letters became obsolete. Once technology was discovered, communication gradually transformed, and is still developing. With the world becoming so connected, being thousands of miles away is no longer a barrier. The overall use of social media is leading to the decline in face to face interaction. As technology begins to develop more, the less time we spend verbally communicating with one another. A recent study from USC Annenberg School, found that the percentage of people participating in less face to face communication rose from 8% in 2000 to 34% in 2011 (USC Digital Future). • 47. The Epic Tale Of How The Desolate West Became An... Rivers of Empire tells the epic tale of how the desolate West became an irrigational Mecca for the United States of America. Donald Worster begins his tale by describing how water irrigation has been used throughout history and how those methods compared to the modern American Western usage. I found Worster s text to be a very solid method of telling the history of water irrigation, but like with many of the texts in this class, I am left with a very pessimistic feeling about the future of the subject. Worster focuses a lot of attention early on in his text on Karl Wittfogel and his theory of hydraulic societies. Wittfogel argues essentially that he who controls the water has the power. I tend to agree with this argument because of the history that Worster presents in his texts. Ancient states used the labor power of the corvee, unpaid labor maintaining the early irrigation systems that the state s controlled, in a feudal manner to control the masses (40). The state would leave these peasant s too weak to fight against the system, but just strong enough to keep the water flowing (41). Wittfogel would live long enough to refute his own ideology, but not long enough to stand behind it. We see this usage of these hydraulic societies carried out in the modern American west, though few would dare call them such. A powerful few step into power, with the promise of wealth and prosperity for all, only to deliver larger wealth for themselves and a corrupt labor and land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The many different ethnicities and cultures present in Latin American music make it diverse and hard to categorise.Latinos have helped bring these sounds to U.S. audiences, and just like European Americans and African Americans they have contributed new musical flavors that sprang from their experiences on U.S. soil. Music in the 1940s was only broadcast through radio and TV. Latin American music is mainly influenced in Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco, but each city express the music in their own way. • 49. Modern Heroes In Dante s Inferno And Beowulf Although when most hear the phrase modern hero they primarily imagine heroes from today s time; however, that does not mean ancient heroes, such as Beowulf and Dante the Pilgrim, are unable to display the same traits as today s heroes. The most common traits among modern heroes consist of people who are capable of some sort of supernatural ability that separates them from everyone else, selflessness or generosity, and courageousness. These traits are portrayed by the main characters of both Dante s Inferno and Beowulf. Although they both demonstrate heroism, Beowulf is portrayed as more of a modern hero than Dante because he displays all three of the common characteristics of a modern hero while Dante only displays two of them. A key component ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beowulf, being a war hero, displays his courage every time he goes to fight a monster whether it be Grendel or the dragon. Beowulf s willingness to go into battle against creatures that could potentially kill him is not something most would do especially to the extent that he does. For example, before the battle with the dragon Beowulf tells his men at arms to remain here on the barrow, safe in your armor. . . this fight is not yours (Beowulf 2529 2533). Beowulf is telling his men to stay back while he fights the dragon alone, that takes a tremendous amount of bravery to go against a fire breathing dragon alone with no back up. This fearless attitude that Beowulf has is not shared with Dante. Dante throughout the Inferno is shown to faint on multiple occasion due to his fear and shock. For instance, after Dante hears Charon speak in Canto III of the Inferno the twilight country shook so violently, the terror of it bathes me with sweat even in memory. . . like one whom sleep comes over in a swoon, I stumbled into the darkness and went down (Inferno 3. 127 130). So, in other words, when Dante is over come with fear or anxiety he passes out and is unable to act. That does not display courageousness, but instead it shows his weakness of being unable to control his fear. Imagine if Beowulf acted in a similar manner when facing up against the dragon. He would have not been able to defeat the dragon and the people of city would have continued to be terrorized by the dragon. This lack of courage displayed by Dante is what sets him apart from Beowulf and prevents him from being a true modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Osi And Open Systems Interconnection The OSI, Open Systems Interconnection, model was first introduced in 1984 and was design to be a model and teaching tool to help better understand the rules of networking that systems must undergo to communicate. The OSI model consist of seven hierarchical layers that defines the path that data must travel. These layers are: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. The first and lowest level of the model is the Physical layer. The physical layer consists of the basic networking hardware transmission technologies of a network (Osi model.com). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third layer of the OSI model is the network layer and is where the routers and layer 3 switches would be. This layer is responsible for controlling subnets and deciding which path the data should take based on certain conditions. This layer is also responsible for IP (internet protocol) addresses, this includes both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Packets in this layer identify where the traffic originated (source IP address) and where it is going (destination IP address) (Gibson 166). In short, the OSI layer three network layer is responsible for connections, host addressing, and message forwarding. Protocols that operate on this layer are IPsec and ICMP. Layer four of the OSI model consist of the transport layer. In this layer, the protocols in this layer provide a host to host communication servers for applications (osi model.com). Within the layer four transport layer, we have TCP (transmission control protocol) and UDP (user datagram protocol) protocols. TCP is a more reliable protocol in ways of guaranteeing the delivery of the IP traffic. With TCP, you have a three way handshake in place, meaning that when you send a segment you should receive an acknowledgement that the segment was received. If it was not received, then you could resend. When using UDP, guarantee delivery of packets is not the main concern. The main advantage of UDP is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Manila is the capital of the Philippines and it is located in Luzon; which is the largest island in the archipelago. Due to its convenient location for a trade route, it is known as the Pearl of the Orient. Before Manila was rebuilt, the city suffered many episodes of destruction during World War II (WWII) where the Japanese invasion occurred. Even though Manila is believed to be one of Southeast Asia s best capital cities for its breathtaking views and culture, it has its flaws. Manila is filled with crime, corruption, overpopulation, and the daily inevitable and cumbersome traffic jams. Yet, this city is still the biggest, most developed and prosperous when compared to the other cities in the Philippines. II.
