Epicurus And Lucretius Essay
The circumstance of one s death determines the stature of the experience. The shared account of
Epicurus and Lucretius unravel the merit of death, in the Philosophy and Death. There shared view
is contrasted by the piece by Nagel. It is important to note that all three accounts are assuming the
soul ceases to exist when the body perishes. Epicurus explanation is centered around deathbeing
nothing to humans, since the sense experience is deprived through death. This concedes, there is
nothing in death and this should encourage one to seek happiness in life the fear of death is
irrational (Epicurus 164). Additionally, Lucretius furthers the point of Epicurus through his theory
of the body and soul being one and mortal, therefore, death is... Show more content on

Nagel s account draws the most concerns. He believes life is intrinsically good which is not true
(Nagel 178). Many accept death over life, since life is embroiled with terminal illnesses which
can be the means of a life of pain. Consequently, his account can be determined as blissful
ignorance with no recognition to those with dysthymia, cancer, and other conditions which have
no relational good. Another flaw in his argument is his failure to recognize that deprivation can
be favorable. To be deprived of the evils in life can only be assumed as a good. Correspondingly,
it is unreasonable to claim all deprivation as evil, especially when using potential as an argument
potential can be the means for good or evil. Overall, the shared account of Epicurus and Lucretius
contradicts the entire account of Nagel through their conviction that what one does not experience
has no effect on the person. If a person does not have an awareness of the deprivation of potential,
then it is not bad.
Neither views on death answer its question of status as good or bad. The circumstance in which
the person who dies is relevant to determine the principle of death. By the doctrine of Nagel, one
is to assume that life is intrinsically good, which under certain circumstances is clearly proven as a
flaw (Nagel 178). From the previous discussion about terminal illnesses and depression, there are
times where one sees

Battle Of Lone Pine Essay
The Battle of Lone Pine was an attack diverting the Turkish army allowing the ANZAC s to reach
high ground at Chanuk Bair and Hill 971 in 1915. The Battle met the criteria of a just war using the
principles of no means malum in se, proportionality/military necessity and distinction. By adapting
the attack to these just war criteria, the ANZAC s were successful against the Turkish army and
gained them the high ground.
The first criteria, no means malum in se which is to not use weapons or methods of warfare
which are considered evil was adapted into the battle as no weapons which are considered evil
were used. The Battle of Lone Pine was trench warfare using the generic weapons of grenades,
bayonets and rifles. The trenches were too narrow and cramped for use of any machine guns or
heavy artillery. Chemical weapons including mustard gas were also too risky to use in the confined
space. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Powerful Roman Empire On Ancient Times

The Powerful Roman Empire
The Roman Empire was one of the most well known empires in history. It was the most powerful
of all of the empires and covered at least a part of over fifty present day countries. It covered the
most area out of all of the empires in history. Other than the Spartans, the Roman Empire had the
most powerful army of the ancient world and contained over 20% of the world population back
then. The Roman s ingenuity created many inventions as well, such as the arch, which, with
aqueducts, would revolutionize the transport of water and other supplies across the empire. The
Roman Empire was the strongest in ancient times, and contained almost all of modern day Europe
in its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One main reason that the Roman Empire expanded so much was because of their many good
emperors such as Trajan and his successor Hadrian.
Trajan was emperor of Rome from 98 117 CE and is considered one of the Five Good Emperors
of Rome. One reason Trajan was considered such a good emperor was because he was kind and
generous to the Roman People and Senate. Because of this, Trajan was one of the reasons that
Rome could have so much land and be at the height of their power during his reign. Trajan made
sure that the poor were fed and cared for, and almost everybody in his empire liked him. Aside
from his kindness, Trajan was also recognized for his achievements in war and expanding Rome
to its height in 117 AD with 5 million square kilometers. Throughout Trajan s reign, he captured
Dacia, or present day Romania, and the Parthian Empire, or the Persians with his skill in fighting.
Following Trajan s death in 117, Hadrian rose to the throne. Hadrian is considered another one of
the five good emperors of Rome, except Hadrian was different than Trajan in that he unified and
consolidated Rome rather than seize more land as Trajan had. Rather than expand the Empire,
Hadrian ruled justly and traveled around his empire and rectified tax situations. Hadrian is most
well known for building a wall across Britain to keep out barbarians called Hadrian s Wall.
Although these emperors helped maintain the Roman

Integration Of Math And Science
Integration is a topic should be talked about because it is a topic that has multiple view points some
negative and some positives. No matter the viewpoints it is important to consider how integration
impacts the students. At the end of the day what students retain is what matters and retaining
information can happen in a variety of different ways. Integration provides a way to connect
multiple subjects and allows students to make connections. Integration can be difficult for teachers
to teach because the integration does not fit well, but the outcome of integration is beneficial. With
the heavy weight of assessments and standardized, tests teachers need to make sure that whatever
they teach needs to connect to standards and unites. Sciencehas become a subject that has been put
on the back burner because tests like Maps and Paws testing do not assess science. There are
many factors that affect what and how teachers teach. Integration of math and science is one way
to teach that allows teachers cover more than one major subject. Integration allows teachers to
teach science and math in the same environment that allows students to flourish. The classroom is
filled with a variety of different objectives and lessons and as teachers we need to make sure we
are using our time the best ability. The big question of this research is whether integrating math and
science is beneficial for students in the classroom. Each lesson and activity needs a purpose in the
classroom and

Analysis Of Storm Warnings By Adrienne Rich
No storm is experienced the same. Seeing a storm on the horizon has the power to stir up gripping
memories, introspective thoughts, and convoluted emotions. The poem Storm Warnings , by
Adrienne Rich, applies a predictable structure paired with flowing syntax, and ambiguous diction
speaking both of weather and emotions to illustrate that one cannot avoid the tribulations of life,
embodied as the approaching storm, but instead prepare for their arrival. Storm Warnings, true to its
literal subject matter, possesses flowy sweeping syntax created by the strategic use of commas and
phrasing to draw parallels between the physical oncoming winds and the gales of life. The author
crafts a long run on sentence that spans the first stanza and carries on into the latter portion of the
second to mirror the continuous flowing of windy weather and the forward motion of life. Once the
speaker notices the brewing storm, they walk from window to closed window, watching boughs
strain against the sky. In this portion of the affromented run on sentence, alliteration, rhythm, and
the repetition of words all contribute to the impression of movement. The various w sounds at the
beginnings of words and the repetition of the word window create a sensation of continuously
flowing forward, especially when read aloud; the comma adds a small swirling pause to the rhythm,
which is then soon after resumed with the word watching. Just as the poem rhythmically moves
forward with its long phrases connected with frequent commas, so must life carry on with each
additional experience, whether it be misfortunes or joys. The elongated syntax allows all these
elements to work together within sentences to highlight the similarities between physical storms
and emotional struggle and to stress the inevitability of predicaments in life.
Despite the flowing syntax, the poem has a clear and predictable structure to replicate the persona s
calm familiarity with experiencing and answering to storms in their life. It is interesting to note that
even though parlous weather is on its way, there is a lack of panic, chaos, and anomalies in the
structure of the poem. There continues to be seven lines in each stanza throughout the piece;

The Trans Alaskan Pipeline System
Incorporating the Success of the Trans Alaskan Pipeline (TAPS) into the Building Regulations of
the States of Washington and California.
Abstract
When a large magnitude earthquake strikes, roads might buckle, dams sometimes fail, and
buildings can collapse. As more earthquakes occur, building regulations have been altered to ensure
that buildings experience minimal damage. The Trans Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS), which
transports oil from Prudhoe Bay to the Gulf of Alaska, had engineering in place so when the
earthquake struck the Denali fault in Alaska in 2002, the pipeline didn t leak any oil (Nyman,
Johnson, and Roach, 2003). The success of the pipeline came from its supporting structures. The
engineering used in the TAPS should be applied to buildings in areas that are also prone to large
magnitude earthquakes, such as Washington and California. California is home to the San Andreas
fault, a major transform fault, just like the Denali, and Washington is home to the Seattle Basin,
whose geometry and geological units amplify main and aftershock waves. Washington and
California should first implement better building regulations, and if the premise is successful, it
could be applied anywhere large magnitude earthquakes occur.
Introduction
Large magnitude earthquakes occur on plate boundaries and can produce hazards such as
movement along faults, landslides, and tsunamis. In North America, the western coast is an active
margin, meaning that it is home to earthquakes and

On The Road Character Analysis
In Jack Kerouac s novel On the Road, the main character, Sal, battles with his white identity. He
spends most of his time on the road, traveling long distances across the United States and back
and meeting different people from various backgrounds during his road trips. Throughout the
course of his novel, he frequently takes on other forms of identities and appears to detach
himself away from not only his own character, but from his own hometown and upbringing. At
the end of Part Two, Sal has decided to leave Dean behind in North Carolina. (Kerouac, 180) At
the end of the chapter, he had realized that coming to Frisco with Dean made him feel
unaccomplished and unsatisfied, and he then decides to embark on a trip to Denver on his own.
(Kerouac, 180) He tells us here: At lilac evening I walked with every muscle aching among the
lights of 27th and Welton in the Denver colored section, wishing I were a Negro, feeling that the
best the white world had offered was not enough ecstasy for me, not enough life, joy, kicks,
darkness, music, not enough night... I wished I were a Denver Mexican, or even a poor
overworked Jap, anything but what I was so drearily, a white man disillusioned... (Kerouac, 181
182) It is clear to us that Sal is unsatisfied with his life from the beginning, itching to try out new
environments far from home. However, as he goes across the country either with Dean or on his
own he realizes how unhappy he is. He desires to be another person, with another person,

Cordingly, we see that Mary Read and Anne Bonny both joined crews while being disguised as

because the men were surprised to find that Anne and Mary were in fact women because they
had functioned just as equally as men did. In fact, Anny Bonny and Mary Read were surprised

Casteist View On Casteism
Being casteist and being Christian is an oxymoronic statement, however, it is a heinous reality in
the Indian Church. Even though theologically, Caste and the Church do not go together, casteism
is a dominant discourse, a guiding force, and a potent reality in the Indian Church. Patrick
Gnanapragasm observes that, In some quarters, sadly, Christian identity and casteidentity seem to
converge and play a casteist role, which is avowedly anti Christian. Caste is a dominant discourse,
which discriminates and marginalizes people on the basis of their birth. Oxford dictionary defines
casteism as adherence to a caste and prejudice or discriminations on the grounds of caste.
The category of being Christian and being Casteist does not sync together, however, casteism is an
atrocious reality in the Indian Church. Even though officially the Indian Church condemns
casteism, it permeates in the functional realms of the Church. One can observe the discriminations
and stigmatization in the name of caste; this is not particular to any one denomination but it is

Two types of medical interviews are the biomedical approach, involving only biological factors,
and the biopsychosocial approach that includes both psychosocial factors and biological factors.
Because of the psychosocial factors in the latter approach, the medical practitioner can build a bond
with the patient and treat them as a whole. Social factors such as a patient s occupation play a huge
role in mental health. Occupations can cause stress on someone s body and mind, leading to mental
illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Knowing patients on a more personal level can strengthen
the outcome of their diagnosis and treatment.
There are two model approaches to patient interviewing in the medical field. The biomedical
interview approach, and the biopsychosocial interview approach. The biomedical approach focuses
only on the biological effects on health and medicine. This approach is faster and sees a higher
quantity of patients. According to Science The Need for a New Medical Model: A Challenge for
Biomedicine, the biomedical model, ...assumes disease to be fully accounted for by deviations
from the norm of measurable biological (somatic) variables (Engel 130). The biopsychosocial
approach, on the other hand, focuses not only on the biological effects, but also the psychological
and social effects on health and medicine as well. This approach digs deeper into the patient s
history, uses more variables, and finds the source of the problem and solves it. According to the
article Reflections on a New Medical Cosmology, the biopsychosocial approach ...gives recognition
to the difficulties and distortions involved in framing qualitative issues, whether psychological or
social, in quantitative terms, and so provides a separation between those appropriately... (Greaves
82). It is often seen that because the biomedical approach does not include psychological and social
factors, much information is left out, and the patient and medical professional cannot fully make a
connection with each other. It is important to form a trustworthy bond with patients so that you

How Does The Hobbit Change The World
I have always loved to read. I love to escape from the drama and stress of real life by opening a
book and getting sucked into a world drastically different from my own and stepping into a
character s shoes. This love made me want to create these stories on my own; I want to take my
own ideas and create a world as vivid as the ones in my favorite books. My love for unreal worlds
pulled me to J.R.R. Tolkien s The Hobbitand The Lord of the Rings. He spent years weaving
together different myths, languages, and traditions of all of the different races of people and
creatures in his stories, and I wanted to be able to create a lore like that in my own books. Tolkien
was one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century, and he almost... Show more content

He used his personal experiences in his fiction, giving everyone who read his books a look into
his past, and into the past of our world. Tolkien showed to those paying attention that his books
were not just frivolous fantasy. If you look to his war experiences, you notice that Bilbo in The
Hobbit, like Tolkien, was torn from his peaceful home and tossed into unfamiliar and dangerous
new surroundings. In The Lord of the Rings, the way Sauron ravages Middle earth is strikingly
similar to that of Hitler in World War II (J.R.R. Tolkien). When reading The Hobbit or The Lord
of the Rings, one would hopefully notice that The Lord of the Rings is much darker than its
predecessor. However, The Hobbit can take on a deeper meaning when one considers that
through Bilbo, we are connected to Tolkien s personal experiences and emotions during war; it s
not just a silly children s book. When The Lord of the Rings is connected to World War II as
well, one may realize that all of Tolkien s work is rooted in our world s history, despite being
fantasy (J.R.R. Tolkien). All of his books now have a much deeper meaning. Now, even in the
twenty first century, Tolkien s work is still a favorite among all ages; maybe it s because of its
deeper meaning, or maybe it s just the depth and mystery in his writing. Either way, The Hobbit
and The Lord of the Rings have now sold over tens of millions of copies; they are classics (J.R.R.

Feeding Tube Refusal Dilemma Essay
Feeding Tube Refusal Dilemma A 28 year old female with cerebral palsy and debilitating arthritis is
in the hospital for treatment. She is immobile and unable to perform basic tasks on her own. Due to
her condition, she is having trouble eating and in order to help, the doctor believes that a feeding
tube (PEG tube) should be surgically inserted. When told about the treatment, the patient refuses
surgery. She is deemed competent and understands her situation. In this situation, I propose that the
care team should respect the wishes of the patient and let her die. It is clearly stated that the patient
is autonomous and aware of the potential risks of refusing treatment. She is willing to accept the
fact that if she does not receive the feeding tube, she will die of malnutrition. In addition, she is not
consenting to the surgery and they cannot legally force her to accept treatment to have the PEG
tube inserted. The conditions for consent include competence, understanding and appreciation of
information, and voluntariness free from coercion, and undue influence (Young, Ch. 44). She has
fulfilled the requirements for competence because the care team acknowledges that the patient
recognizes that there is a decision that needs to be made, clearly understands the information and
treatment options, and the risks involved with each decision (Orr, CBHD). There is no question
that the patient understands and appreciates the information because the care team is aware that
she is able

Transition Process Internet Protocol Version 4 ( Ipv4 ) Essay
Transition Mechanism:
Transition process Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) temporary aid to the Internet from a

Without the need for a sudden change in the mechanism, IP protocol allows for a smooth transition
to the new version. This idea in mind, many of these techniques are designed to accommodate the
coexistence of the two versions.
The early stages of IPv6 deployment and adoption of a new protocol, it is fast enough to run IPv6

access gradually began adding even though IPv4 networks, providers are beginning to consider
the deployment of IPv6 networks only. This change of policy is still IPv4 supports only the
necessary means to allow users to access the network, the IPv6 networks only. Several mechanisms
have been proposed and more are currently being discussed at the IETF. The following is a
description of the mechanisms of the most widely deployed and more mature.

It has become part of our everyday lives whether it is out of the mundane habit of following the
daily news or from the communication between the people around you. What is seen or heard in
the media can be a conversation starter. The media has also changed drastically through time
expanding the original medium of printed papers and radio broadcasts to those we have today of
television and digital media, including social media such as, Facebook, twitter and blogs. There is
a vast variety of media to choose from not just in form but also in type, whether it is political,
celebrity, sport, international or local. Sometimes you do not know that you are even affected by
what is on the media. Mass media affects societies socially and politically by providing opinions
and outlooks on things, although the masses have the power to control the judgment that they
have over it. (Sturken and Cartwright, 2009) The media is very powerful in today s world where
it is conveniently accessible. Social media gives an invitation for the audiences to leave their
input and actions whether it be positive or negative. The media can be interpreted to be figurative

Globally, most countries have achieved a birth rate at about two children per woman. But in sub
Saharan Africa, it s 5.6 children per woman, largely because girls are not aware of reproductive
choices and drop out of school at a young age and have kids.
Politicians can effectively address reproductive inequality. Contraception is a huge topic in
America. Many religious conservative groups condemn it, and have protested it which has caused
programs that provide it to have their funding cut, which ended up with abortions becoming more
common. When contraception is taken away, the result isn t less sex, but more pregnancy and more
abortions. Contraception alone prevents around 112 million abortions a year. Republicans are
continuing to defund global family planning despite it being estimated that in a year these
programs prevent 150,000 maternal deaths, 53 million unintended pregnancies, and 25 million
abortions worldwide each year. It would also prevent 973,000 unintended pregnancies, and
406,000 abortions in the U.S. Providing family planning worldwide would require $3.6 billion a
year. The U.S. share of the cost (according to the U.N. Population Fund) would be about $1 billion,
but it would save American taxpayers roughly $3.4 billion annually that would otherwise be spent

Our Secrets Essay
Identification by definition is the state of being identified, which means the characteristics and
feature that set you aside from everyone else. Question is: What makes an identity? Is it the
heritage of our parents? The people we interact with? Or how about the decisions we make on a
daily basis? Each of these are components to our identities in different manners though they each
have different levels of impact upon us. Depending on the person, everyone has different opinions
as to how important their identityis. Some may say that their past identity is not of importance to
them because they relate to who they have become throughout time and others tend to place
importance of where they come from. In his book, In the Name of... Show more content on

Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics
Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics.
Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical
(local) correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum
communication and distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are
also difficult to generate and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid
loss of their unique quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been
generated exploring various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36],
coupling to a common cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a
waveguide [38].
In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im
plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a
solution to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum
information is encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity
modes or/and few qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum
teleportation techniques. Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central
for these teleportation pro tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by
avoiding any undesired cross talk between the

Pure Water Test Lab Report
In this lab, the seeds in the pH of seven, pure water, grew the most out of both trials, just as
predicted. In trial one, the radish seeds in pure water grew gradually over the period of six days,
reaching the germination of 23 of the 25 seeds. However, all of the seeds in the other Petri
dishes showed no growth over this course of time. Trial two mimicked about the same data, with
21 of the 25 seeds germinating in pure water and no growth in the other Petri dishes. The water in
the Petri dishes that contained baking soda turned yellow and green in both trials, yet still showed
no growth. At the end of the six days, the seeds in the Petri dish with a pHof seven began to turn
green as the roots grew longer, resembling successful germination. Overall, these findings illustrate
that seeds grow best in a pH of seven, pure water, thus proving the hypothesis... Show more content

Critical Analysis Of Ludwig Van Beethoven s 5th Symphony
Ludwig Van Beethoven s 5th Symphony is a piece that is extensively well known based on the
opening of the first few notes that are played. The pieces first 3 quick g s and 1 long e flat are
what this song is well known for (Gutmann, 2). The 5th symphony was first performed on a cold
December night, in an unheated theater, with 7 other songs, and by an unknown orchestra put
together from the left overs of the war (Lewanski, 2). The conditions of the concert may have
been appalling yet this piece is still an exceptionally well known symphony to this day.
Beethoven s 5th Symphony occurred during the Romanic Era. This piece is perfect for this era,
based on the fact of how the piece has such a dark and romantic sound. With the war going on
during this time this piece is influential. This piece of music is dark and forbearing like the acts
of war. In the music it emphasizes between loud and soft crescendos which is based on the war. It
shows the death and destruction of the war and the famine that the war brought about at that time.

influence in the dynamic of the 19th century. It was not just another light hearted piece; this piece
actually showed the dark parts of the world and showed the different aspects of society s
innermost thoughts and feeling during the war. Beethoven was influenced by the era and the
culture of his time. During the 18th century there was a plague that killed more than 1/3 of Vienna
s population (Prevo, 5). During his time there was many scientific advancements in medicine.
(Prevo, 5). Beethoven started losing his hearing and not being able to hear his own music, resulted
in his absence from playing in public Prevo, 5). His loss of hearing and constant ringing in his ears
influenced his music tremendously, based on the fact that he started becoming less social and more
isolated (Prevo, 5). This brought his music to a new level of genius making his 5th symphony sound
melodic and ominous in nature. During Beethoven s era the climate of culture changed
dramatically. Ludwig van Beethoven(1770 1827)

Buck, Mike Mills, and Bill Berry. Radio Free Europe was the first song that they released in 1981.
Out of Time and Automatic for the People were there two most successful albums. They have
many songs, but there most well known single is without a doubt Losing My Religion and it was
the first single that they released from their album Out of Time on February 19, 1991. Losing My
Religion was R.E.M. s biggest hit, the lyrics in the song go on to explore the feeling of love that is
not reciprocated, and the theme of the song is obsession.
The major theme of the song Losing My Religion is obession. It is clear that the singer is
obsessed with the girl that he is singing about because of the specific details given throughout the

Plane Personal Narrative
Ever since I was in junior high school I have been fixated on remote control planes and small
unmanned aerial vehicles. The interest ironically started out from a toy helicopter crash
combined with my curiosity, igniting a life long passion that eventually became my singular
fixation and my ticket into the future. I built and crashed my first few planes before I joined a
local group of hobbyists who were involved with the Tipton County Radio Control Club. They
brought me to the top of an old, filled in landfill, now covered in lush, green grass that swayed
with the slightest breeze blowing through the leaves of the surrounding trees. The designated flying
field was at the highest point of the landfill. With well manicured fields still fresh with the scent of
freshly mown grass, it stood in stark contrast... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

landing the plane, I began to talk to the other pilots and learned the meaning behind the often
repeated phrase fly, crash, repeat. I built more planes and several months later started a new

blades flew very well during the maiden flight until I had to repeat the phrase fly, crash, repeat in
a disappointed voice as my battle with gravity and the ground was lost. I retrieved my craft and

Reflection Of Plato s View On Love By Socrates
Finally, toward the end of the Symposium, Socrates speaks, giving an accurate account of love
and the correct use of Eros. He opposes all of the other speakers and says that love is not all about
our pleasure and sexual deviances, but to either impregnate the body and give life, or to impregnate
the souland pass on knowledge. Socrates speaks as if Eros is a lovefor the other person, to love
someone so much that you want to enter into a bond that results in child rearing or a love for
mankind that you want to share all your knowledge with them to better their soul. He continues
that to be pregnant in the soul is better than to be pregnant in the body because when we are
pregnant in the soul, there is more to be given to others then caring for a newborn. In this
response from Socrates, it is hard to determine if he has it completely correct. I would imagine
that without people being pregnant in the body, we would eventually run out of people to pass
our knowledge on to. This, then, would have to be a both/and situation where each has a calling
to one or the other or both, and both forms of love would then be equal. Socrates is then saying
that love itself in not a god, but a messenger that is caught in between the divine realm of
immortality and the earthly realm of the mortal. Love then can reach the heights of the gods
bringing messages from man and returning to man with messages from god. Socrates is now
showing that there is some divine link between man and the divine, and this is love. This also
shines light on the fact that because each human had this link to the divine the human must in
some way be part divine and part animal. Because each human can love, can reason, and has these
animal instincts and desires, man must also be caught in between the divine and earthly worlds.
Because we cannot physically move into that divine realm, then we must have an entity that is
part of us and can move freely in between, this would be the soul. Socrates refutes all the other
speeches about taking young boys as lovers for one s own gratification and love being a god that
permits all thing in the name of pleasure. In conclusion, it is safe to say that, in our current era, Eros
is absolutely

The repatriation process set up by NAGPRRA requires federal agencies and museums to identify
items in their possession that are subject to the law and make inventories and summaries of them,
they then must consult with lineal descendants and Indian tribes regarding the identification and
cultural affiliation of the items, finally the agencies and museums must send notices to the
appropriate group describing the lineal descendancy or culture affiliation and stating that the item
may be repatriated. The law provides federal grants to assist with the process of documentation and
repatriation of the items. NAGPRA also sets up a review committee to monitor and resolve disputes
consisting of three Native American nominees, three nominees from scientific organizations or
museums, and one mutually approved nomination. In addition, there are steps provided to follow
for unclaimed items, unidentifiable items, intentional and inadvertent discoveries on both federal

Vertical integration Q2: What kinds of competitive forces are industry members facing? The
most powerful and widely used tool for identifying competitive forces and assessing the strength
and importance of each is the five forces model of competition which is typically described as
follows: (Thompson, Strickland and Gamble 2008) In order to determine the nature and
strength of competitive pressures, the best way is to follow the three steps: Step 1: Identify the
specific competitive pressures associated with each of the five forces Step 2: Evaluate the
strength of each competitive force Step 3: Determine whether the collective strength of the five
competitive forces is conducive to earning attractive profits. (Thompson, Strickland and Gamble
2008:54) Competitive rivalry Blockbuster reached a peak of 9,094 company operated and
franchised movie rental stores worldwide. However, when Blockbuster launched an online
subscription service in 2004, it met the strong competitor, Netflix, which already had more than
2 million subscribers. Netflix offered a wider choice of subscription plans from $8.99 to $47.99.
And it also developed proprietary software to provide subscribers with detailed information about
each title in the Netflix library. Netflix offered a high quality service by giving one business day

German Americans After Ww2
After the end of World War I many German Americans Living in the United States changed their
way of living. They would change the way they would speak, look and in some cases the way
they would act. This change started appearing not only at the end of the war, but also throughout
World War I. Some would go even as far as changing names to an American spelling while others
would even change the name of their business (WГјstenbecker, 2014).
German Society in the U.S.

ethnic cleansing of German Americans became more of a common thing, this came because they
were not trusted. The sinking of the Lusitania only made things worse for the German Americans.
They felt threatened due to the growing of anti German sentiments, and many would change the
ways they would live their life in order to seem more patriotic, they would go even as far as
changing their name, stopping the use of their native language outside of home. They removed any
trace of heritage and became fully American. This put the end to many German language and

Comparison Of C. S. Lewis The Lion, And The Wardrobe
C.S. Lewis was a rather prolific writer and when he was taking breaks from his usual writing
genres he often wrote fantasy books because that was one of his favorite genres to read. This
essay will explore two of his fantasy works The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and The
Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Dawn Treader). Both of these novels belong to The Chronicles of
Narnia(Narnia) series and Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was the first in the series published
in October of 1950 and the third book published in the series, Dawn Treader, was in September of
1952. After completing all of the books Lewis rearranged the order of the books so Lion, the
Witch, and the Wardrobe is actually the second book in the series and Dawn Treader the fifth.

Secession Dbq
1)The secession was a pivotal moment in American history. When Abraham Lincoln was elected
president in 1860, it caused alarm in several Southern states since he did not receive a single
electoral vote from them. Since he was the first from the political Republican Party to become
president, nobody quite knew what to expect and the South feared that he would disregard and
corrode their values. Lincoln desired to place the slaveholding states under the non slaveholding
states to prevent slavery from spreading, which was the last straw that pushed South Carolina to
secede on December 20, 1860. Even before Lincoln s inauguration on March 4, 1861, seven states
seceded. They elected a man from Mississippi, Jefferson Davis, to represent them as they pushed to
separate themselves from the union. Not only did they have to elect their own president, but they
also had to quickly put together their own... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Metal Reactivity Series Lab 2015
Teaghan Hignett March 15, 2015 Mr. Cho SCH3U Metal Reactivity Series Lab 2015 Question:
What is the relative reactivity of aluminum, potassium, copper, iron and hydrogen? Introduction:
This lab will introduce several key concepts surrounding metal reactivity as well as
electronegativity and periodic trends on the periodic table. Electronegativity by definition is a
measure of the tendency of an atom to attract a bonding pair of electrons. In a bond between
atoms in a molecule, the atom that is more electronegative will attract the bonded pair of
electrons closer to it s own nucleus. Reactivity refers to how vigorously or the likelihood of a
element to react with other elements or substances. Electronegativity can be used to determine
the reactivity of a substance as well as using ionization energy (how easily electrons can be
removed from an outer shell). This lab will allow us to look into the relative reactivity of metals.
Relative reactivity means the reactivity scale in order of decreasing reactivity between the 5
metals chosen above. The tests that allow us to build a reactivity series for metals use Single
Displacement Reactions. When performing these tests, the substances will only react if substance
A is more reactive than substance B. If no reaction occurs than substance B is more reactive that
A. This happens because A and B are cations and the X is what will bind with either A or B and X
is also a anion. Anions will only switch cations if it benefits them

The Importance Of Identification As A High School Athlete
How I identify as a high school athlete
I identify myself though the actions I have made in my life. The social identity theory states that
people who keep motivated and active tend to behave in ways that maintain and keep their social
cliques. No matter the wins and losses I have had over the past four years in my high school career
as an athlete, group identification helps boost my awareness of the role leadership within my
social clique. Through sports, I have learned to hone in on the important cognitive skills like
observations and description, and the ability to interpret data such as stats. I also have the ability to
tolerate frustration and work in concert with others toward a common goal such as winning the
event or game.

common form of public transportation in Lucas County today is the bus, although on paper busses

Climate Change and Greenhouse Gases Essay
Global Warming and Greenhouse Gases
The United States releases twenty tons of carbon monoxide per person per year. Carbon Monoxide
release is a result of burning fossil fuels with an insufficient amount of oxygen that causes the
formation of carbon monoxide that pollutes our environment. Everyday fuel is burnt by cars,
airplanes, large factories and manufacturing plants. This is causing a very large and deadly problem
for our environment. When gases used on earth are released into the atmosphere they act as a
blanket and trap radiation that is then redirected to earth. This concept is called the Greenhouse
Effect (Bad Greenhouse, 1).
There are many ways in which we can slow and even stop the Greenhouse effect. More public ...

Public transportation can help reduce stress caused by driving, save money, and also protect our
environment by reducing the number of vehicles on the road. In order to get more people off the
road and into the public transportation system we must increase the number of buses and taxis
that are available. We must also increase the number of stops available for daily bus routes. With
more stops on the map more people are likely to use the bus system. Each city or town will be
able to decide where more bus stops are needed and make the adjustments necessary to provide
better service for the taxpaying citizens. Of course, none of this is possible without adequate funds
in each town/city and the gas tax is guaranteed to provide those funds. Providing more public
transportation will help us reach our ultimate goal of protecting the environment and ourselves.
The other fifty percent of your money will be split evenly between funding for research of
alternative fuel sources and funding for the implementation of a high speed rail system in the
United States.
Alternative sources are the only absolute way we can secure the safety of our environment.
Everyday carbon monoxide is released into our air. This is creating holes in the ozone layer and
exposing humans to deadly fumes (Bad Greenhouse, 1). More money available to scientists who
study alternative fuels will allow them to do more extensive testing and research. Although the
world is not yet running

To what extent does the problem of urbanization can be met by sustainable development?
For the past decades the trend of urbanization has rapidly increased, especially in developing
countries. Urbanization may be defined as a process in which people from rural areas are
migrating to the city. The sudden increase of the population in cities has brought significant
problems to their inhabitants, the environment and resources. These problems are providing
housing with basic facilities and public transport, mitigating the effect of pollution which is
detrimental to the environment and people, and sustaining its development and resources.

Understanding The Complexity Of The Jaw
Cindy Amador
Acevedo, DA 75
Research Paper
11/04/14
Osteonecrosis of the Jaw The human body is made up of living cells that keep a constant supply
of blood flowing to the bones in order to replenish and retain their healthy function. When
insufficient blood flow is produced for our bones they begin to become weaker and lose their
vitality and ultimately collapse. It can occur in any bone of the body including the jaw. This
condition is known as osteonecrosis of the jaw. This is a newly recognized condition that continues
to be researched to in order to provide patients with optimal care. In order to understand the
complexity of this disorder you must comprehend how the condition is diagnosed, the risk factors,
and how it can be treated.
Osteonecrosis, osteo meaning bone and necrosis meaning death, is bone losing vitality and
function. This condition occurs when bone is no longer supplied with blood. Osteonecrosis of the
jaw, ONJ, exposes the jaw bone because it is no longer attached to the gingiva and has remained
in this state for over eight weeks. In the initial stages of ONJ, there are no noticeable symptoms or
indications but as the disease progresses, pain within the joints is common. As ONJ further
develops the signs and symptoms include local pain, soft tissue swelling or inflammation,
previously secured teeth are now unstable, and exposure of bone. Sudden changes in the wellness
of mucosal tissues, mucosa unable to heal itself, or infection of soft tissues is also

  • 2. Epicurus And Lucretius Essay The circumstance of one s death determines the stature of the experience. The shared account of Epicurus and Lucretius unravel the merit of death, in the Philosophy and Death. There shared view is contrasted by the piece by Nagel. It is important to note that all three accounts are assuming the soul ceases to exist when the body perishes. Epicurus explanation is centered around deathbeing nothing to humans, since the sense experience is deprived through death. This concedes, there is nothing in death and this should encourage one to seek happiness in life the fear of death is irrational (Epicurus 164). Additionally, Lucretius furthers the point of Epicurus through his theory of the body and soul being one and mortal, therefore, death is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nagel s account draws the most concerns. He believes life is intrinsically good which is not true (Nagel 178). Many accept death over life, since life is embroiled with terminal illnesses which can be the means of a life of pain. Consequently, his account can be determined as blissful ignorance with no recognition to those with dysthymia, cancer, and other conditions which have no relational good. Another flaw in his argument is his failure to recognize that deprivation can be favorable. To be deprived of the evils in life can only be assumed as a good. Correspondingly, it is unreasonable to claim all deprivation as evil, especially when using potential as an argument potential can be the means for good or evil. Overall, the shared account of Epicurus and Lucretius contradicts the entire account of Nagel through their conviction that what one does not experience has no effect on the person. If a person does not have an awareness of the deprivation of potential, then it is not bad. Neither views on death answer its question of status as good or bad. The circumstance in which the person who dies is relevant to determine the principle of death. By the doctrine of Nagel, one is to assume that life is intrinsically good, which under certain circumstances is clearly proven as a flaw (Nagel 178). From the previous discussion about terminal illnesses and depression, there are times where one sees ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was the most powerful of all of the empires and covered at least a part of over fifty present day countries. It covered the most area out of all of the empires in history. Other than the Spartans, the Roman Empire had the most powerful army of the ancient world and contained over 20% of the world population back then. One main reason that the Roman Empire expanded so much was because of their many good emperors such as Trajan and his successor Hadrian. Trajan was emperor of Rome from 98 117 CE and is considered one of the Five Good Emperors of Rome. One reason Trajan was considered such a good emperor was because he was kind and generous to the Roman People and Senate. Because of this, Trajan was one of the reasons that Rome could have so much land and be at the height of their power during his reign. Trajan made sure that the poor were fed and cared for, and almost everybody in his empire liked him. Aside from his kindness, Trajan was also recognized for his achievements in war and expanding Rome to its height in 117 AD with 5 million square kilometers. Throughout Trajan s reign, he captured Dacia, or present day Romania, and the Parthian Empire, or the Persians with his skill in fighting. Following Trajan s death in 117, Hadrian rose to the throne. Hadrian is considered another one of the five good emperors of Rome, except Hadrian was different than Trajan in that he unified and consolidated Rome rather than seize more land as Trajan had. Rather than expand the Empire, Hadrian ruled justly and traveled around his empire and rectified tax situations. Hadrian is most well known for building a wall across Britain to keep out barbarians called Hadrian s Wall. Although these emperors helped maintain the Roman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Integration Of Math And Science Integration is a topic should be talked about because it is a topic that has multiple view points some negative and some positives. No matter the viewpoints it is important to consider how integration impacts the students. At the end of the day what students retain is what matters and retaining information can happen in a variety of different ways. Integration provides a way to connect multiple subjects and allows students to make connections. Integration can be difficult for teachers to teach because the integration does not fit well, but the outcome of integration is beneficial. With the heavy weight of assessments and standardized, tests teachers need to make sure that whatever they teach needs to connect to standards and unites. Sciencehas become a subject that has been put on the back burner because tests like Maps and Paws testing do not assess science. There are many factors that affect what and how teachers teach. Integration of math and science is one way to teach that allows teachers cover more than one major subject. Integration allows teachers to teach science and math in the same environment that allows students to flourish. The classroom is filled with a variety of different objectives and lessons and as teachers we need to make sure we are using our time the best ability. • 9. Analysis Of Storm Warnings By Adrienne Rich No storm is experienced the same. Seeing a storm on the horizon has the power to stir up gripping memories, introspective thoughts, and convoluted emotions. The poem Storm Warnings , by Adrienne Rich, applies a predictable structure paired with flowing syntax, and ambiguous diction speaking both of weather and emotions to illustrate that one cannot avoid the tribulations of life, embodied as the approaching storm, but instead prepare for their arrival. Storm Warnings, true to its literal subject matter, possesses flowy sweeping syntax created by the strategic use of commas and phrasing to draw parallels between the physical oncoming winds and the gales of life. The author crafts a long run on sentence that spans the first stanza and carries on into the latter portion of the second to mirror the continuous flowing of windy weather and the forward motion of life. Once the speaker notices the brewing storm, they walk from window to closed window, watching boughs strain against the sky. In this portion of the affromented run on sentence, alliteration, rhythm, and the repetition of words all contribute to the impression of movement. The various w sounds at the beginnings of words and the repetition of the word window create a sensation of continuously flowing forward, especially when read aloud; the comma adds a small swirling pause to the rhythm, which is then soon after resumed with the word watching. Just as the poem rhythmically moves forward with its long phrases connected with frequent commas, so must life carry on with each additional experience, whether it be misfortunes or joys. The elongated syntax allows all these elements to work together within sentences to highlight the similarities between physical storms and emotional struggle and to stress the inevitability of predicaments in life. Despite the flowing syntax, the poem has a clear and predictable structure to replicate the persona s calm familiarity with experiencing and answering to storms in their life. It is interesting to note that even though parlous weather is on its way, there is a lack of panic, chaos, and anomalies in the structure of the poem. There continues to be seven lines in each stanza throughout the piece; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Trans Alaskan Pipeline System Incorporating the Success of the Trans Alaskan Pipeline (TAPS) into the Building Regulations of the States of Washington and California. Abstract When a large magnitude earthquake strikes, roads might buckle, dams sometimes fail, and buildings can collapse. As more earthquakes occur, building regulations have been altered to ensure that buildings experience minimal damage. The Trans Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS), which transports oil from Prudhoe Bay to the Gulf of Alaska, had engineering in place so when the earthquake struck the Denali fault in Alaska in 2002, the pipeline didn t leak any oil (Nyman, Johnson, and Roach, 2003). The success of the pipeline came from its supporting structures. The engineering used in the TAPS should be applied to buildings in areas that are also prone to large magnitude earthquakes, such as Washington and California. California is home to the San Andreas fault, a major transform fault, just like the Denali, and Washington is home to the Seattle Basin, whose geometry and geological units amplify main and aftershock waves. Washington and California should first implement better building regulations, and if the premise is successful, it could be applied anywhere large magnitude earthquakes occur. Introduction Large magnitude earthquakes occur on plate boundaries and can produce hazards such as movement along faults, landslides, and tsunamis. In North America, the western coast is an active margin, meaning that it is home to earthquakes and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. On The Road Character Analysis In Jack Kerouac s novel On the Road, the main character, Sal, battles with his white identity. He spends most of his time on the road, traveling long distances across the United States and back and meeting different people from various backgrounds during his road trips. Throughout the course of his novel, he frequently takes on other forms of identities and appears to detach himself away from not only his own character, but from his own hometown and upbringing. At the end of Part Two, Sal has decided to leave Dean behind in North Carolina. (Kerouac, 180) At the end of the chapter, he had realized that coming to Frisco with Dean made him feel unaccomplished and unsatisfied, and he then decides to embark on a trip to Denver on his own. (Kerouac, 180) He tells us here: At lilac evening I walked with every muscle aching among the lights of 27th and Welton in the Denver colored section, wishing I were a Negro, feeling that the best the white world had offered was not enough ecstasy for me, not enough life, joy, kicks, darkness, music, not enough night... I wished I were a Denver Mexican, or even a poor overworked Jap, anything but what I was so drearily, a white man disillusioned... (Kerouac, 181 182) It is clear to us that Sal is unsatisfied with his life from the beginning, itching to try out new environments far from home. However, as he goes across the country either with Dean or on his own he realizes how unhappy he is. He desires to be another person, with another person, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is proven because the men were surprised to find that Anne and Mary were in fact women because they had functioned just as equally as men did. In fact, Anny Bonny and Mary Read were surprised to find that the other was a female. Cordingly explains that even though Captain Jack Rackman knew Anne Bonny to be a female when he married her, it was still necessary for her to dress and act as a man on board ship (Cordingly 57). To dress as a man was to take advantage of the freedoms offered to men over women. The upsetting truth is that these same freedoms, as stated before, were not offered to ... Even though theologically, Caste and the Church do not go together, casteism is a dominant discourse, a guiding force, and a potent reality in the Indian Church. Biopsychosocial Factors Of Mental Health And Occupations Mental Health and Occupations Aspasia Manettas Mercy College October 2017 Abstract Two types of medical interviews are the biomedical approach, involving only biological factors, and the biopsychosocial approach that includes both psychosocial factors and biological factors. Because of the psychosocial factors in the latter approach, the medical practitioner can build a bond with the patient and treat them as a whole. Social factors such as a patient s occupation play a huge role in mental health. Occupations can cause stress on someone s body and mind, leading to mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Knowing patients on a more personal level can strengthen the outcome of their diagnosis and treatment. There are two model approaches to patient interviewing in the medical field. The biomedical interview approach, and the biopsychosocial interview approach. The biomedical approach focuses only on the biological effects on health and medicine. This approach is faster and sees a higher quantity of patients. According to Science The Need for a New Medical Model: A Challenge for Biomedicine, the biomedical model, ...assumes disease to be fully accounted for by deviations from the norm of measurable biological (somatic) variables (Engel 130). The biopsychosocial approach, on the other hand, focuses not only on the biological effects, but also the psychological and social effects on health and medicine as well. This approach digs deeper into the patient s history, uses more variables, and finds the source of the problem and solves it. According to the article Reflections on a New Medical Cosmology, the biopsychosocial approach ...gives recognition to the difficulties and distortions involved in framing qualitative issues, whether psychological or social, in quantitative terms, and so provides a separation between those appropriately... When told about the treatment, the patient refuses surgery. She is deemed competent and understands her situation. In this situation, I propose that the care team should respect the wishes of the patient and let her die. It is clearly stated that the patient is autonomous and aware of the potential risks of refusing treatment. She is willing to accept the fact that if she does not receive the feeding tube, she will die of malnutrition. In addition, she is not consenting to the surgery and they cannot legally force her to accept treatment to have the PEG tube inserted. The conditions for consent include competence, understanding and appreciation of information, and voluntariness free from coercion, and undue influence (Young, Ch. 44). She has fulfilled the requirements for competence because the care team acknowledges that the patient recognizes that there is a decision that needs to be made, clearly understands the information and treatment options, and the risks involved with each decision (Orr, CBHD). • 30. Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics. Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical (local) correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum communication and distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are also difficult to generate and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid loss of their unique quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been generated exploring various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36], coupling to a common cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a waveguide [38]. In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a solution to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum information is encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity modes or/and few qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum teleportation techniques. Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central for these teleportation pro tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by avoiding any undesired cross talk between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The pieces first 3 quick g s and 1 long e flat are what this song is well known for (Gutmann, 2). The 5th symphony was first performed on a cold December night, in an unheated theater, with 7 other songs, and by an unknown orchestra put together from the left overs of the war (Lewanski, 2). The conditions of the concert may have been appalling yet this piece is still an exceptionally well known symphony to this day. Beethoven s 5th Symphony occurred during the Romanic Era. This piece is perfect for this era, based on the fact of how the piece has such a dark and romantic sound. With the war going on during this time this piece is influential. This piece of music is dark and forbearing like the acts of war. In the music it emphasizes between loud and soft crescendos which is based on the war. It shows the death and destruction of the war and the famine that the war brought about at that time. Beethoven s 5th symphony was a piece that brought about change and influence in the dynamic of the 19th century. It was not just another light hearted piece; this piece actually showed the dark parts of the world and showed the different aspects of society s innermost thoughts and feeling during the war. Beethoven was influenced by the era and the culture of his time. During the 18th century there was a plague that killed more than 1/3 of Vienna s population (Prevo, 5). During his time there was many scientific advancements in medicine. (Prevo, 5). Beethoven started losing his hearing and not being able to hear his own music, resulted in his absence from playing in public Prevo, 5). His loss of hearing and constant ringing in his ears influenced his music tremendously, based on the fact that he started becoming less social and more isolated (Prevo, 5). This brought his music to a new level of genius making his 5th symphony sound melodic and ominous in nature. During Beethoven s era the climate of culture changed dramatically. The interest ironically started out from a toy helicopter crash combined with my curiosity, igniting a life long passion that eventually became my singular fixation and my ticket into the future. I built and crashed my first few planes before I joined a local group of hobbyists who were involved with the Tipton County Radio Control Club. They brought me to the top of an old, filled in landfill, now covered in lush, green grass that swayed with the slightest breeze blowing through the leaves of the surrounding trees. The designated flying field was at the highest point of the landfill. With well manicured fields still fresh with the scent of freshly mown grass, it stood in stark contrast... After landing the plane, I began to talk to the other pilots and learned the meaning behind the often repeated phrase fly, crash, repeat. I built more planes and several months later started a new project, a small drone that could be flown for short distances using a camera. Its four powerful blades flew very well during the maiden flight until I had to repeat the phrase fly, crash, repeat in a disappointed voice as my battle with gravity and the ground was lost. • 38. Reflection Of Plato s View On Love By Socrates Finally, toward the end of the Symposium, Socrates speaks, giving an accurate account of love and the correct use of Eros. He opposes all of the other speakers and says that love is not all about our pleasure and sexual deviances, but to either impregnate the body and give life, or to impregnate the souland pass on knowledge. Socrates speaks as if Eros is a lovefor the other person, to love someone so much that you want to enter into a bond that results in child rearing or a love for mankind that you want to share all your knowledge with them to better their soul. He continues that to be pregnant in the soul is better than to be pregnant in the body because when we are pregnant in the soul, there is more to be given to others then caring for a newborn. In this response from Socrates, it is hard to determine if he has it completely correct. I would imagine that without people being pregnant in the body, we would eventually run out of people to pass our knowledge on to. This, then, would have to be a both/and situation where each has a calling to one or the other or both, and both forms of love would then be equal. Socrates is then saying that love itself in not a god, but a messenger that is caught in between the divine realm of immortality and the earthly realm of the mortal. Love then can reach the heights of the gods bringing messages from man and returning to man with messages from god. Socrates is now showing that there is some divine link between man and the divine, and this is love. This also shines light on the fact that because each human had this link to the divine the human must in some way be part divine and part animal. Because each human can love, can reason, and has these animal instincts and desires, man must also be caught in between the divine and earthly worlds. Because we cannot physically move into that divine realm, then we must have an entity that is part of us and can move freely in between, this would be the soul. Socrates refutes all the other speeches about taking young boys as lovers for one s own gratification and love being a god that permits all thing in the name of pleasure. In conclusion, it is safe to say that, in our current era, Eros is absolutely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Metal Reactivity Series Lab 2015 Teaghan Hignett March 15, 2015 Mr. Cho SCH3U Metal Reactivity Series Lab 2015 Question: What is the relative reactivity of aluminum, potassium, copper, iron and hydrogen? Introduction: This lab will introduce several key concepts surrounding metal reactivity as well as electronegativity and periodic trends on the periodic table. Electronegativity by definition is a measure of the tendency of an atom to attract a bonding pair of electrons. In a bond between atoms in a molecule, the atom that is more electronegative will attract the bonded pair of electrons closer to it s own nucleus. Reactivity refers to how vigorously or the likelihood of a element to react with other elements or substances. Electronegativity can be used to determine the reactivity of a substance as well as using ionization energy (how easily electrons can be removed from an outer shell). This lab will allow us to look into the relative reactivity of metals. Relative reactivity means the reactivity scale in order of decreasing reactivity between the 5 metals chosen above. The tests that allow us to build a reactivity series for metals use Single Displacement Reactions. When performing these tests, the substances will only react if substance A is more reactive than substance B. If no reaction occurs than substance B is more reactive that A. This happens because A and B are cations and the X is what will bind with either A or B and X is also a anion. Anions will only switch cations if it benefits them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
