1. EVALUATION QUESTION 6: WHAT HAVE YOU
LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE
PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. EDITING SOFTWARE
Before this project, the only editing software I was aware of
was Windows Movie Maker, so I was worried when I found out
we were using Final Cut Express, especially when I had taken
on the task of editing the preliminary. I found it difficult to get
the hang of at first, and I encountered many problems with
rendering and exporting the video clips, but I eventually got
used to it. However, the preliminary was obviously not as
advanced as our final product, so when it came to editing our
opening there were still things we were unaware of. But most
of what we learnt was self taught such as editing the lighting,
the transitions, the opening credits etc. However, I wasn’t
heavily involved with the typography and titling as I was
finalising everything in our research and planning, but I learnt
how to use Final Cut Express in the light of editing, cutting and
creating transitions.
3. SHOOTING
To film our opening, we used a
Sony 1000e video camera.
This camera was great at
capturing sound from far
distances and capturing any
shot we needed. It made our
opening look professional. I
was unfamiliar with cameras
as professional as these so
whilst filming I learnt how to
work the camera such as
editing the lighting, blurring the
scene, focusing on certain
things. I was already familiar
with some features but I just
wasn’t sure how to apply them
to this camera, but I learnt
4. WEBSITES / BLOG
Getting the blog started up wasn’t hard, but customising it
afterwards was quite difficult. I have a personal blog but not on
blogger, so it was interesting to learn how to use this blog in
comparison to other blogging websites. Our group knew that
posting only text posts would only weaken our blog, so we posted
our work through other websites such as
Slideshare, Prezi, Powtoon, Slide.es, Issuu, Youtube, Mixbook.
The variety of websites used makes our blogs look more
interesting to look at as constantly reading text posts can be dull.
Before starting this course, I was unaware of all of the above
websites excluding Youtube, but while creating our product I
learnt how to use these and share them to other websites.
Although, I did find Slide.es quite challenging and confusing so I
resulted in avoiding that particular one. My favourite website was
Prezi, as it allowed you to create interesting and creative
Powerpoint presentations very easily. It also allows you to include
Youtube videos and voice over's which I found useful.
