The document compares the media product (a magazine) to the conventions used in the popular music magazine Vibe. 2. FRONT COVER
Another convention I have used which is similar
to Vibes is the head title across the top of the
magazine which gives information to the reader.
In my magazine and Vibe we have both
used one main striking image and a plain
background and I think it works well and
really makes the image stand out.
I’ve used a similar front cover
image to a popular hip-hop
magazine ‘Vibe’ in both
images the models are in
strong dominate poses, and
have eye contact with the
reader this really pulls the
reader in and personalizes the
magazine.
In my magazine I’ve
used a large variety of
fonts and a big colour
palette varying a lot, but
in vibe, they have stuck
to the same font and a
very small colour pallet.

3. CONTENTS In both my magazine and Vibe we have
kept our logo on the contents page to
I have used the basic conventions of having keep brand but put it to the top right to
contents wrote at the top of the page, and having keep it out of the way.

Again like on the
front cover we both
have used very
strong eye catching
close up images with
simple background to
make the image pop.
On my contents page I
have included my editorial
profile which isn't typically
used on many music
magazines

4. DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD The way the artist names
are displayed are very
different in these
magazines, in mine I use
a large bold font to show
the artist, but in vibe they
use smaller text and just
make it stand out of text
by making it blue.
Again I compared my music to vibe
music magazine and I found that both
magazines instead of using one large
image for the dps, both use smaller
images and then one bigger one and
this gives a good effect.
Both magazines use a very plan
background as well which makes
the text pop out and images
more eye catching.
