1. In what ways does your media product use, develop
or challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?

• Contents page
• Double page spread
2. My MF magazine
FRONT COVER
With the front cover I stuck to most of the
conventions that are used. I have aimed my
front cover to be similar to VIBE magazine (on
left).
The colour scheme I did similar, where the
main background image’s colours blend with
the layout and theme. In this case I matched
the pink on my models dress and highlighted
the buzz words in pink.
I stuck to using 3 main colours on the cover,
just like VIBE magazine have done.
This helps it look less crowded.
However the mode of address I used is similar to Billboard magazine, as its
snappy but slightly more formal then VIBE.
I got the idea of the masthead
from Q! magazine, as its
letters boxed off. However
my masthead also follows the
other conventions as it is

lines is still kept similar to
billboard as they are more
focused on one side of the
page. This is to get the
audience to still properly notice
the image.
3. Contents page
For my contents page I used a similar layout to VIBE magazine where I kept the
stories listed to a minimum. I only included the top news to avoid making the page
look busy and crowded.
Similarly to VIBE I split the contents title but instead of 3 sections I used 2.
I only used on main image for the background to keep the simplistic look and have the
audience focus on the aspects that I want them to focus on.
The mode of address that I used was a split between formal and informal, I did this to
sound as if I’m trying to be the readers friend but be informative at the same time.
I kept my font similar throughout to maintain
consistency. I only highlighted the article
titles and the celebrity names to make them
more noticeable to the audience and draw
their attention to that.
The colour scheme I used was black white and
grey, as they all contrast with each other really
well and give the page an elegant touch.
In the top left corner I included the magazine name, I done this to show a
connection between the contents page and the brand, and to show the audience
the relationship.
Just like VIBE magazine I did not include a note from the editor as it would create a
mess in the organisation of the page. However a lot of magazines like to include a
message from the editor as it builds a relationship between the reader and the
brand. This is where I challenged that belief.
4. Double Page Spread
With the double page spread I focused on all the basic conventi0ns and
made sure my double page fitted the criteria.
For the layout , I focused all of my article on the right page, this follows
the conventions as the remaining page is dedicated to the image and
the in this case the title also.
I liked the layout and colour scheme of the VIBE double page spread,
and applied some of the similar features to my spread.
I used the same type of font throughout my article to keep
the page consistent and the same. I set up the interview in
way that is used by other magazines where the question is
done in bold. This method also makes it much easier to
understand.
The mode of address is very basic as most of the
article is based on the answers on the celebrity. By
having the word to word account of the conversation
bring a personal bond between the interviewee and
the reader.
