1. Organizational development (OD) is defined as a process of planned change and improvement of the organization through application of behavioral science knowledge. 2. There are three main types of OD interventions: human process based interventions like team building and survey feedback; techno-structural interventions like job enrichment; and socio-technical systems like quality circles. 3. For OD to be effective, it requires support from top management and selectivity in the projects undertaken. The role of HR is to help the organization develop capacities to adapt to changing market and social conditions.
