Super Mario World Research 
Review 
Super Mario World is a 2D fun adventure game that is designed for young kids and families. 
The main character is called Mario and he is an Italian plumber. His aim is to rescue a 
princess and in order to do so he has to fight through multiple that get harder as you 
progress. 
One of Mario’s companions is a green dinosaur; Mario hatches him from an egg and then 
jumps on his back if to ride him. This dinosaur is called Yoshi it eats most of Mario’s enemies 
and shoots them out turning them into fire balls. 
Throughout the game I encountered Bowser cousins in 
small castles. These levels are usually the hardest on the 
world, as I would have expected, also during these 
encounters I learned that I have to time it right for jumping 
on their heads because they can shield themselves using 
their shell or a fire ball. Usually they are fought on 
platforms that are moving side to side and larva is below, 
this can get quite annoying because I let my guard down or 
I concentrate on one thing too much and fell in. 
Bower is Mario’s arch enemy and he is the one who kidnaps princess peach, he waits in the 
final castle and is bigger than all of his cousins. I found it very annoying because all he was 
doing when he couldn’t hit you with his fire ball was scream and make the screen shake.

There are perk equivalent items in the game that give you special powers , one of which is a 
red and white mushroom, it makes you somewhat bigger and acts like extra health. Another 
is a flower like plant that gives Mario the ability to shoot 
flames from his hands. And the best one of all is a star that 
makes you invincible and unstoppable with this you can just 
walk through enemies and it will eliminate them. 
Mario wears a red hat, a blue onesie and a red jumper, he has 
a moustache, white gloves and a red M on his hat symbolising 
his name Mario. 
I like how the games world view is set, its nice and simple with not much detail and easy to 
navigate to which level you need to progress to next. 
When playing the game; because it is so old I expected it to be easy to play but it wasn’t 
mainly because of the buttons and the moving system. When I wanted to stop moving it 
expected it to stop straight away and I found myself falling off the map and dying or running 
into an enemy multiple times. 
Games design 
I did like the sound tracks it makes me motivated to 
play on and also reminds me of when I used to play it 
as a young child. I also like the game art it makes it 
entertaining to look at each individual character and 
AI. The AI have a simple yet intimidating look that 
makes you want to challenge them and jumping on 
their heads usually defeats them.
