1. Super Mario world research
Game-
We played Super Mario world that is a platform game were you can play as Mario or Luigi .In this
game you have to complete levels and you get to save the princess. The controls where very
confusing and hard to use. There is no weapons in the game you can use objects to kill or damage
the enemies, to attack an enemy you can jump on the head or use their shells to attack multiple of
them. The background music in the game was catchy and people will remember it that is why the
game is popular. But the graphics are blocky and old but go with the game .You can also save your
game so if you go off it your data will be saved.

It is a 2D side scrolling game video game I can identify this from the layout of the game and also
through the level setup on a map that is flat but in a 3D style .This is a platform game that uses
pixel art made in 1990 by Nintendo.

You play through levels and collect coins throughout the level some skills are needed to duck,
jump, squash and wait but the game has a timer what times your level and the quicker the level is
complete the more points you will achieve at the end. Within this game you can ride a dinosaur
called Yoshi when riding Yoshi you are able to eat the enemies and spit fireballs when Yoshi gets
damaged him/her then retreats and also lays eggs that can be used as a game mechanic.
Research -

This game looks like a retro blocked and colourful and blocked images because of the year it was
made the creators used pixel art making the game interesting to the public. This game suits the
style it is set in all the characters are branded to certain colours like Mario wearing red and Luigi
wearing green and the princess wearing pink.

The mechanics used in the game are controls, menu, save levels and level choice. Using these
mechanics help the game to be used and to get popular. When you have an option to save your
level with a name of your choose l if you lose all your life’s you will re-spawn back into the game.

There are many enemies but I did not get to go up against them all since the first enemies are too
hard. Different enemies have different abilities some walk towards you on their own or in groups
some of them can run at you using duck or jump can prevent yourself from being killed by the
enemy
The character development in the game is when Mario gathers a mushroom he is the then powered
up and then he grows in height and size. But if Mario is powered up when he gets hit he will only
become smaller again

The world the game is set in is a dinosaur island where Mario, Luigi and the princess travel to the
dinosaur island but suddenly bowser the turtle (main boss) take the princess captive so Mario and
Luigi with help from Yoshi travel through the levels to save the princess and defeat bowser.

2. Evaluation-

I have discovered this game and played it for the first time I found it very difficult on playing it
because it had no guide on how to play it and I found it hard on getting used to it but playing it for
a while it became easier to me since I had an idea on how the game works and what you have to
do. I manage to go through different islands and defeat different types of bosses on the game. But
overall I thought the game was pretty average on how the game kinda repeats the same prospect
again and again. I would play this game again since it had a similar retro classic theme to it and
once I gotten really used to the game I found it a bit additive going through different types of levels
on the game. I would rate this game 7/10.
