2. What image did we want to create? We wanted to create a good combination of a trailer and our ancillary tasks, our poster and our magazine cover to appeal to the right target audience that we are looking for.We wanted to produce something that was similar to the ‘Saw’ series and create something that was dark, psychological and tension building. We thought we could do this by portraying the idea that someone was trapped and that they were trying to escape.
3. Trailer and Ancillary Texts Research for our trailer involved us looking at numerous horror trailer’s for us to get an exact idea in our head of what we wanted to produce for our trailer, we looked at such trailers as Hostel, Taken, Silence of the Lambs and Psycho. This was to look at the generic conventions of a horror film so that we could portray it in our trailer. We did the same for our poster, as we were going for a ‘Saw’ look, we researched ‘saw’ poster’s so we could link all our products together like a marketing project.To link our projects we have used viral marketing, we did this by posting a link on Facebook to our Youtube account with our trailer on as we our all ‘friends’ on Facebook and we have different people on Facebook so we could reach out to different audiences. We also posted a picture of our poster and our magazine trailers onto Facebook so people could comment on them and give us their opinions.
5. Our Poster… Our poster ties into our trailer firstly because the picture we have used in our poster features in one of the shots used in our trailer, it also ties in with our magazine cover as we blood features heavily throughout all three texts and it is featured on this image. For this we gave tried to recreate the same background as Saw, a dull grey background to make the colours of the hand with the blood on stand out. We used limited text to try and focus our audiences attention on our picture. This is also a shock feature. Our picture was chosen to be a shock factor value to our poster, the same as ‘Saw’, it also ties in with our tagline; ‘clawing…’ this is a play on words to attract our audience. This text is the same text used in the titles for our movie trailer.
6. Our magazine cover… The image ties in with our trailer as she is an actress in our film and she is featured without the audience so she will strike a resemblance to the audience. The background is different to our poster as our poster background is white, but in order for our image to stand out better we used a black background to contrast with out white font, this fits in with the white background on our poster.
7. Trailer, Poster and Magazine Cover… This is our final poster, magazine cover and a still from out trailer. The combination of our main product and our ancillary tasks is shown clearly here. The blood is a strong feature throughout all three texts as this is the image we wanted to create for our product, our main outcome was to create a strong psychological horror and we feel we have achieved this.
