1. Impact of the American
Revolution on the World
A Brief Powerpoint by Matt Joyner
AP World History
2. The American Revolution
Caused by colonist’s contempt with “old” British society.
Wanted religious freedom, economic freedom, and social freedom. It
was time from the “offspring” to depart from its “mother.”
Influenced by Enlightenment thinkers and philosophers, like John
Locke
Basic rights
Democracy
3. Immediate Influence: The French
Revolution
The American Revolution was aided by the French,
because. . .we get it. . . The French have ALWAYS hated
the British.
The French thought that if the Americans could fight and
win a battle, then they could fight a revolutionary battle
against their own country to better their lives as well.
4. Long Term Influence
The American Revolution was proof
that Enlightenment philosophers were
not just mere utterances, but a lifestyle that could be
carried out to its full potential.
It is possible that many, many, many nations have used the
American Revolution as “inspiration” towards their fights for
independence as well.
