Robin Thicke is making it very clear that he isn’t over his very dramatic split from his wife
Paula Patton.
Most exes will just drop round a bar of dairy milk but
not that twerk-champ!
During his NY gig at Madison Square Garden he
declared his love for a special lady in his life as an
indirect to Paula. The 36 year-old opened up to us and
confessed "When there's someone you love, you gotta
fight for them no matter what." Fighting he sure is!
Sources show that the bum-cheek lover is delivering
bouquets of flowers to her door one after the other.
Don’t you think it’s time to give in to a man Paula?! I
can hear the ladies chasing after the cheeky chap
already!
I wonder what charming ideas is going to out of his
sleeve to win her heart again, mind you Robin I’d be
careful she doesn’t become a florist with the flower
overload!

My chosen story is news worthy and I know this becauseit contains ‘Galtung and Ruge’s’
news values one being the element of continuity as it has been in the public eye for some
time [including breakup] therefore the story is deemed valuable. Also the story will keep
running for a while as you can tell by the final paragraph because there will always be more
news on it which means the audience will visit the news website every week for the story
even if nothing major has happened for a few days.
It also contains the value of simplicity which is very important in a news story because if a
story is too complicated for a reader they will stop reading it. This story is simple because it
tells the reader everything to the point and doesn’t have multiple angles of the story and
there isn’t any unnecessary information in the way of the news story.

2. It also contains a very big personality which is another one of Galtung and Ruge’s’ news
values since Robin Thicke is presented at a human interest angle and is an easily recognised
face of fame with a recent top 10 single. This is important in a news report because
important people are a human interest especially to young people as this is the time in their
life they predicted to look up to them more frequently and a time that they mostly
surrounded by their influence. Extending on from that point this same story would never be
interesting to the audience if it was about a regular person so this news story having a well-
known personal as the headline is a main reason of why It is a good and worthy story.
It also contains an element of negativity which is favoured over positive stories to make this
news story even more worthy to be the top story of the website.

Treatment for my idea for a new News website aimed at 12-16 year olds:
I was told to create my news website for a target audience of young teens so I have chosen
that the news stories will be about celebrities along with their lives and gossip as this is
what will attract most 12-16 year olds to a news website unlike stories on the topic
parliament and politics known as ‘more hard news’ because those stories are more for an
adult/older target audience. The name of the news website is “Insight” and I chose this
name because we give the teenage readers an insight into the celebrities’ lives which is
what they read it for and the word isn’t too formal or too young and has quite a cool ring to
it.

3 Stories I would cover in my News Website:
1) Tom Daley opens up about his Sexuality after his ‘Coming Out’ Video-
This story would be relevant for my product because the focus of it is celebrities’ lives and
Tom Daley is a well-known recent celebrity that people want to know about therefore if
they see a story about him it will lead them to the product. It would not just be interesting
for my target audience as it would also be useful because between the ages of 12-16
teenagers are in the process of ‘finding themselves’ and are usually at some point during
these ages confused about their sexuality so they would like to read about how a celebrity
has ‘came out’ to the whole world and since most teenage inspirations are celebrities this
news story could make Tom Daley one of them as it is something I think we could all look up
to and could make a confused teen very happy.

3. For the readers who won’t be helped by this story it would be relevant to them because the
sexuality of a celebrity is mega gossip and as a 12-16 year old you would be very interested
about this story.
2) Michelle Keegan’s no make-up selfie for cancer awareness –
This is relevant for my product as Michelle Keegan is known as one of the most beautiful
women celebrities on the planet which teenage girls aspire to be but also with teenage girls
starting to wear make-up between the ages of 12-16 this may inspire them to be less scared
to show their make-up less faces. Also this would attract the male half of the target
audience as most of them think of Michelle Keegan as a very attractive celebrity and this
would intrigue them to read the article and browse through the news website.
3) Is Ellie Goulding going to be the fourth judge on ‘The X Factor’ panel?
This is relevant for my product as it is about a very current celebrity who has constantly
been up and down the charts all year with many number one singles so it definitely has the
celebrity factor of my product. It matches my target audience because most 12-16 year olds
watch the X Factor and like knowing news before anybody else knows it and this is quite big
news that they could tell to people such as school friends or even grandma’s.

4. (Task 6)
Personally I think the overall product has been thoroughly thought through and that isn’t
based around any one news website currently on the market. Also the website isn’t too
completed and confusing for 12-16 year olds. I also think it uses good language that will
engage the target audience as it doesn’t patronise them however it isn’t boring to them
either and it is actually on a level that most of them can relate to and therefore enjoy
reading news stories from this news website. One improvement I would say can be made is
for the website to have more images on the home page to get the audience more interested
in different stories however in my opinion the stories chosen for the target audience
worked very well and will make them want to use the news website for their own pleasure.
