3. How would you describe the
film industry today
• The film industry today care’s more about what the audience
wants in my opinion, this is also an opinion shared by Ryall’s as
he believes that the “audiences chooses what the audiences
watches.” this basically means that if the audience do not like
the content then they will not watch and will build up a
relationship with a certain genre such comedy, horror, or
thriller, etc.
• Although this is not a view shared by Hitchcock as he believes
choice is limited to what is produced which although is true in
a way I believe that in today’s film industry it no longer applies
due to the amount of choices avialable.
4. What society influences are
there in films
• There are several things that influence people’s choices in genre’s
such as:
• Global ideologies (e.g. peoples views on how things should be)
• Hollywood- a lot of people have built up a relationship with
Hollywood blockbuster films and the actors and actresses involved
which may influence whether they watch the film or not.
• Internet- the internet has really helped the marketing of films which
will make it easy for the audience to have more control over
choosing which films that they want to see.
• Piracy- this has become a big problem as it has really affected profits
due to the ease of people downloading the content for free
although it still turns over huge profits.
• Media literate- due to the fact that our generation has a much
better idea of how media works, and what we can get out of using it
such as YouTube.
5. Our film
• Our film followed the conventions from the film Taken, this
film was likely to have got it’s idea’s from the well publicised
kidnapping of Madeline McCann, this is due to the fact that
when this happened it really raised awareness about the
number of children that go missing every year and really got a
strong reaction from the national and global public.
• The reason I believed that this film was then created from this
is that they realised that there was a huge public interest
about these kidnappings, and that it may be successful to
create a film with a similar theme to it.
7. Films from current affairs
• The film hurt locker was inspired by current wars in
Afghanistan and Iraq, the reason that this film was such a
global success in my opinion is that people are very interested
in these wars and are trying to gain a better insight into what
these people are going through.
