Using examples from primary mathematics lessons, the speaker will model strategies for teachers to incorporate elements of reflection. These include: (1) having students re-organize their thinking by finding alternative methods, (2) reflecting to seek efficient methods and articulate procedures, and (3) using reflection as a form of assessment and for students to self-check. Specific strategies involve journal writing, questioning techniques, and posing problems for students.
