2. The Challenge
I want to challenge you with regard to
your own social media presence and
activities. So, why dont you psych
yourself up, think about it and plan for
the month of December 2010. As things
quiet down towards the end of the year,
you may actually get the time to do this.
And if you succeed, why not make it
your 2011 goal to keep it up:
3. Challenge # 1
• Unfriend the people
on your facebook
profile with whom
you have not had a
face-to-face or
telephone
conversation in 2010.
(or block their
updates, if you dont
have the guts)
4. Challenge # 2
• "Like" a cause page of
a cause you believe in.
Not another client or
booze page.
5. Challenge # 3
• Go through the list of
your LinkedIn
"connections" and
record the number of
those you have
actually done
business with in 2010.
Then calculate that as
a % of your total
connections. Still
excited about your
"business
connections?"
6. Challenge # 4
• Make one blog posting
in December.
Anywhere. (Need not
even be on your own
blog.)
7. Challenge # 5
• Make one comment
on some-one else's
blog. Anywhere.
8. Challenge # 6
• Go through your
twitter follower list
and block followers
who are spammers,
porn characters and
anyone else that does
not add value to your
profile. Emerge with a
list of followers whom
you will be proud to
introduce to your
mother.
9. Challenge # 7
• For just this one
month, only tweet
messages which you
hope people will
retweet. Nothing
about your lunch,
kids ballet concerts or
any "good morning
tworld" tweets.
10. Challenge # 8
• Check every tweet
you make against
your twitter profile to
see if it is the type of
content your
followers are
expecting from you.
11. Challenge # 9
• Upload one non-
commercial video to
YouTube with your
name in the tags.
12. Challenge # 10
• Write down your
thoughts on the
future of the big 4:
twitter, facebook,
LinkedIn, YouTube
and date it. Look at it
again in December
2011, to see whether
you are on or off
target.
