    • The Capital of Scotland By Pelayo
    • Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland. The second largest city in this country. It`s located in the east coast. Nowdays, it has a population of 477,660 inhabitants. The name comes from his gaelic name Dùn Èideann, which means “Eidyn’s Fort”. Edinburgh is divided in two districts: the New Town and the Old Town. Both of them are UNESCO patrimony due to their perfect palnification and their history.
    • Edinburgh was established by the romans as a fort in the 1st century. Then in 1124 the city was founded as a city (burg) by David I of Scotland. Since 1437 is the capital of Scotland. Edinburgh was a very important cultural city in the Illustration ages thanks to his University. It was called as the “northern Athenas. The old town of Edinburgh was built in the Medieval Ages. In the 1766 the old town was crowded of people and they decided to create a New Town. The castle of Edinburgh was built in the 12th century.
    • Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and holds several institutions headquarters like the Scottish Parliament, the Royal Bank of Scotland and many important companies. It’s the second more visited city in UK after London. Leith is the district of Edinburgh where the harbour is. The Universisty of Edinburgh is one of the most historicaly important in the world. It was established in 1583. Edinburgh also holds a large number of museums. Famous celebrities come from Edinburgh such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Alexander Graham Bell and Sean Connery.
