Task 1) Initial meeting

One of the mostimportantparts of makingany videoisunderstandingwhatthe clientwants.If you
don’tknowexactlywhatmessage the clientwantsthe videoto communicate thenyouwontbe able to
produce an effectivevideo.
You will needtoorganise aninitial meetingwithyourclientwhere youcandiscusswhatthe clientsgoals
are forthe video.Sometimesthe clientmayfindithardto explainexactlywhattheywantfromthe
video,soyouwill needtouse a varietyof questioningtechniquesto draw outof themwhattheyneed.
Your goal duringthisearlystage is to understandwhatyourbrief is,andto beginto plan how you will
respondto it withcreativity and flair, working independentlyandto near professional standards.

Before youbegineditingyouwill needto planhow you will edityour video,eitherthroughclarifying
the editingstyle,tone,rhythmetc... withthe client,orbycreatingan editingproposal.
You will needtouse postproductiontechnology(FCP7) to edit your videoto near professional
standards, show creativity and flair and working independently.Once youhave finishedyourfinal cut
youwill needtoexportthe videoinanappropriate format,create asimple menuinDVDstudioProand
burn 2 seperate copiesof yourvideotoDVD.
You will thenneedtoevaluate yourexperiencesof post-productionbywritinganindepthreflective
