2. INTRODUCTION
• Nanotechnology is creation of USEFUL materials, devices & systems
through control matter on the nano meter length scale and exploitation of
novel phenomena & properties (physical, chemical, biological) at that length
scale.
3. What is Nanotechnology?
• Field of Applied science whose theme is the control of matter on an atomic
& molecular scale.
• Nanotechnology involves the manipulations of objects on the atomic level.
• In order for this science to be realized, positional control must be achieved,
& self-replication is necessary to reduce costs.
4. Some Nano History
• The First one to coin the term is K. Eric Drexler, one time student
Feynman's.
• First Described by Nobel Lauriate physicist Richard Feynman.
• In 1959 he gave a lecture called “There’s plenty room at bottom” in which he
suggested that the law of physics would allow people to use small machines
to make smaller machines eventually onto the atomic level.
6. ADVANTAGE OF NANOTECH
1. Revolution in computer h/w right down to molecular gates & wires.
2. We could inexpensively make very strong & very light material.
3. Products should be much lighter, stronger, & precise.
4. Allows to work on microscopic scale.
7. Applications
• Medicine
• Environment
• Energy
• Information & communication
• Heavy Industry
• Consumer Goods
• Entertainment
8. Conclusion
• Nano technology help to understand the world around us, & will provide
inspiration & drive for many generations of scientists.
• Thus the future generation is going to continue the fantastic voyage with
nano technology in advance level making life easier.
