2. Physiological measurements
There are certain strategies to measure physiological
changes occur in an individual.
In psycho physiology we can measure the activities of
the brain or the electro physical activity of the body.
There are 10 psycho physiological measurements
widely used. They are…..
3. E.M.G
It records the action potential given off by
contracting muscle fibres. Ex. Facial muscles.
4. E.G.G.
Electro Gastrography
It provides a recod of smooth muscle activity
in the abdomen. The contraction of the
stomach/intestine.
It used to gain information about fear, anxiety
or other emotional status.
6. E.K.G
Electro Cardiography
It is used to records changes in electrical
potential associated with the heart beat.
Electrodes placed at various locations of the
body.
7.
EKG may be used to suplement observations
relevant to stress, heart diseases, type-A
behavioural patterns.
8. E.D.A
Electro Dermal Activity
It is known as G.S.R. also.
Galvanic skin response, skin resistence, skin conductance .
It refers to the electrical activity of the skin.
The activity of the eccrine glands can be measured by EPA.
11. P.E.T.
Positron emission tomography
Advanced versions used in 1992-1996.
It uses radiation/nuclear medicine imaging to
produce 3D colour images of the functional
process with in the human body.
Modern machines uses a CITY X-Ray scan
which is performed on the patient at the same
time same machine.
It can be used to diagnosis a health condition.
14. M.R.I.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging
It is a medical imaging techniques used in
radiology to visualise detailed internal
structures.
It is used to distinquish pathological tissues
from normal tissues.
It is harmless to the patient. It uses strong
magnetic fields and non ionizing radiation in
the radio frequencyrange.
Recent developments in the field is F.M.R.I.
