Formed through the Water and Sewerage Act of Parliament
in 1965.
Serves a population of 1.3 million with a workforce of 4,700
employees.
Customer base of 285,000 domestic, Agricultural,
Commercial and Industrial accounts.
Industrial customers constitute 20% of customer base and
account for 80% of rates collected.
Daily Water Production of 227imgd which comprise.
 60% Surface Water
 30% Groundwater
 10% Desalination.
Provides service coverage 97% (water) and 27% (sewer) to
customer base.

1 Distribution Pipeline Installation of Transmission and Distribution Mains, 155km in North &
Network South Trinidad and Tobago
2 Surface Water Sources Rehabilitation and Construction of nine (9) Intakes and Surface Water
Treatment Plants throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
3 Surface Reservoirs and Rehabilitation & Construction of Service Reservoirs at six (6) locations
Boosters throughout Trinidad.
Rehabilitation and Construction of nine (9) Booster Pumping Stations
throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
4 Wastewater Services Rehabilitation/Construction of Wastewater Facilities and Sewer Mains,
12 projects
5 Metering Metering in Tobago, 6000 meters to be installed.
6 Pressure Management Network and Pressure Management to reduce usage
And SCADA
Remote Operations and Control of treatment facilities, Booster Stations

To provide a reliable and sustainable level of service to our customers
through the implementation of the US $150Mn programme geared
towards the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Authority’s
 Transmission and Distribution pipeline network
 Water Treatment facilities and Booster Stations
 Network and Pressure Management
Increased centralised wastewater coverage to 75%. This would include the
following and be supported by the IADB’s US $30Mn Loan:
 The replacement of all defective sewer mains
 The upgrade and expansion of all WWTP
 Development of more centralised sewer systems.
Reduction of Unaccounted For Water (UFW) to an acceptable level
Rate increase in tandem with completion of projects
Public Awareness and Sensitivity Programmes to address issues such as
contamination
