    • Teacher identifies the outcome intended, and then develops lessons to help students reach those outcomes.

    • If the state standard is to interpret the meaning of idioms then the instruction will be developed with a focus on how to interpret idioms.
    • Several examples will be provided to aide with guided practice.
    • Then students will have the chance to practice.
    • The students will be assessed.

    • Providing a variety of instructional strategies to try and meet the needs of all learners.
    • Students should be exposed to multiple forms of instruction in order to make sense of it.

    • If the state standard is to interpret the meaning of idioms then there should be a variety of strategies used to teach this.
      • Student could be shown a picture of a commonly used idiom and asked to interpret.
      • Student could draw a picture of literal meaning.
      • Student could read brief history of where the idiom got its meaning.
