  3. 3. <ul><li>If the state standard is to interpret the meaning of idioms then the instruction will be developed with a focus on how to interpret idioms. </li></ul><ul><li>Several examples will be provided to aide with guided practice. </li></ul><ul><li>Then students will have the chance to practice. </li></ul><ul><li>The students will be assessed. </li></ul>

  5. 5. <ul><li>If the state standard is to interpret the meaning of idioms then there should be a variety of strategies used to teach this. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Student could be shown a picture of a commonly used idiom and asked to interpret. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Student could draw a picture of literal meaning. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Student could read brief history of where the idiom got its meaning. </li></ul></ul>
