College Students & Social Media<br />Data from HERI (2007) show:<br />94% of first year students spend some time on social media each week<br />Majority of first year students (60%) spend between 1-5 hours/week on social media<br />Time spent on social media was lest than on academic activities and socializing in the real world<br />

    9. 9. “The amount of physical or psychological energy that the student devotes to the academic experience.” <br />Involvement refers to the investment of physical and psychological energy.<br />Involvement occurs along a continuum. <br />Involvement has both quantitative and qualitative features.<br />Amount of student learning and personal development associated with any educational program is directly proportional to the quality and quanitty of student involvement in that program.<br />The effectiveness of any educational policy or practice is directly related to the capacity of that policy or practice to increase student involvement. <br />
