Editor's Notes
Learning takes place differently than it has in the past. This is because of new media capabilities and applications. Computer-assisted learning has come a long way since it was first envisioned in the fifties. Buildings made of brick and mortar no longer represent the only places of learning. New media, especially the Internet, is making it possible to learn anywhere, anytime.
This is perhaps the most important change that resulted from the development of new technologies and new media. Advancements in electronic communications erased many borders and boundaries. Now knowledge about different peoples in different markets and lifestyles is becoming as important as demographics about our neighbors. Bernie has a lot to say about this.
