3. Nearly 50% of my responders answered that they would
prefer to observe a large/medium sized billboard
poster on the side of the road.
I believe this is more beneficial than the other answers
as I would have to use a large/bold format to increase
engagement and so the audience are able to read my
potential billboard from a fair distance away – would
additionally attract drivers and people walking on
pavement.
Also, a large billboard = lots of space; to fit in and
spread out conventions such as the masthead, the
image and the tagline in a larger font – space a little
tighter within a bus stop poster.
1) Where do you prefer to see a

4. 2) What format would suit best for a
billboard poster promoting a regional
magazine?
Bold/Large
Simple/Basic (spread

Sophisticated/Busy

• Highest Number of Results:
Bold/Large
• Least Number of Results:
Sophisticated/Busy
5. Over half of my responders wanted the format for my
billboard poster to be large/bold – however, there’s
quite a high amount of results for simple/basic also.
I believe that the style of font should certainly be large
(e.g. the masthead and the tagline), and my billboard
poster should portray one large focal image of the
region of South Yorkshire – will definitely grab my target
audiences’ attention (even the A/B income bracket).
As some of my primary audience wanted the billboard
poster to be basic/simple as well, I think that the layout
of text and images should be quite spread out -
shouldn’t look untidy, and realistic billboards tend to
look uncomplicated anyway and contain very brief
information about the product being promoted; reason
why the answer sophisticated/busy received the least
amount of results.
2) What format would suit best for a billboard
poster promoting a regional magazine?
6. 3) Choose TWO colours, which you
think, would suit best for a billboard
poster promoting a rural regional
magazine?
White

7. The colour green received the most amount of results,
whilst white and black got a decent amount of
responses.
I understand why my target audience chose the
colours white and black, due to their sophistication and
are primarily used within the text of regional products –
conventionally, the colour of text within the billboard
poster should be the same as the text on the front
cover of the magazine product (connoting consistency
of conventions throughout marketing).
I assume green got the highest amount of results as it
has closer associations with the colour of the
countryside and the landscape of south Yorkshire;
connoting the attraction of nature.
3) Choose TWO colours, which you think,
would suit best for a billboard poster
promoting a rural regional magazine?
8. 4) What main focal image would
be most suitable and effective on
my billboard poster?
Shot of a person

Building/Castle
Other
• Highest Number of
Results: Location of

• Least Number of

none)
9. Nearly half of my responders wanted the main focal image
on my potential billboard poster to be of a location of the
region – however, a building/castle received some high
decent responses also.
In my opinion, I think that the main image should be of a
landscape taken in an area of South Yorkshire (e.g. very long
shot over the hills/countryside, with blue sky seen) – connote
the beauty of the landscape and hints the volume of
content there is based on rural South Yorkshire within the
magazine product.
As a building/castle got some high results (close behind the
highest answer), I think within the main image a village
(buildings of some sort) should be seen, along with the green
hills and other natural aspects you would observe within the
countryside – will highlight the variety of things there is to
see/do within rural South Yorkshire.
4) What main focal image would be
most suitable and effective on my
billboard poster?
10. 5) What shot type should the main
focal image be in?

Very (or Extreme) Long
Shot
• Highest Number of Results:
Long Shot
• Least Number of Results:

11. Long shot received the most results, however, a very
long shot also got some decent high responses.
I think this is will only make sense if I was to take a
photograph of a wide shot of a landscape/countryside
(in order to capture every natural aspect of the area) –
a very (extreme) long shot over the hills will connote
the endless things there are to see/do within the region
of rural South Yorkshire.
A medium (or medium long) shot will only be suitable if I
am planning on taking a photo of a particular
building/animal – however, I want to take a
photograph over the horizon (within a particular area),
therefore, a very long shot (or extreme) will work best
(which I will then edit as the main large focal image on
my potential billboard poster).
5) What shot type should the main
focal image be in?
12. 6) Would you think a high or low
angle shot would be most effective
within the main focal image?
High Angle
Shot
Low Angle Shot
No Angle
• Highest Number of
Results: High Angle
Shot
• Least Number of
Results: Low Angle
Shot
13. Nearly 50% wanted the shot to be a high angle within the main
focal image – but I’ve got to keep in mind that a low angle shot
and no angle shot at all don’t have small amount of results either.
I think it depends on the type of shot being taken (e.g. a low angle
shot will work best when taking a shot of a castle/building, however,
a slight high angle shot overlooking a landscape (also wanting to
capture most of the village below) can be effective; or wanting to
capture a shot of a plant/flower – an aerial shot is effective for
taking shots high in the sky of the landscape below (however, I will
not be able to take an aerial shot due to too much professionalism
involved for myself to take part in).
In general, for my own main focal image of South Yorkshire, I will
most likely be taking a shot of the landscape - with maybe a slight
high angle, in order to capture some of the village and other
natural aspects below; with some of the blue sky seen above.
6) Would you think a high or low angle
shot would be most effective within the
main focal image?
14. 7) Would you prefer to see some
associated social media on my
billboard poster?
Yes
No
• Highest Number of
Results: No
• Least Number of
Results: Yes
15. A large majority of my responders answered that they do not want to
see some associated social media on my billboard poster
advertisement – which is quite surprising considering most of my target
audience had answered that they use social media networks more
than once a day (in Q.4 within the ‘Final Questionnaire’ of my potential
regional magazine).
I think the older audience would prefer to use contacts such as a
website or a telephone number, in order to find out more about the
magazine product – rather than portraying social media network apps
(e.g. ‘Facebook’, ‘Twitter’ or ‘Instagram’).
My billboard poster is aiming to appeal and relate to my older A/B
income bracket audience as much as possible, and having associated
social media on my poster won’t best relate to the nature of my
sophisticated magazine product.
I realise that more adults are starting to use social media apps more
often, however, I still need to traditionally follow the correct conventions
for a billboard poster that is appealing the older refined generation.
7) Would you prefer to see some associated
social media on my billboard poster?
16. 8) Should an image of the front
cover from my regional magazine
appear on the billboard poster?
Yes
No
• Highest Number of
Results: Yes
• Least Number of
Results: No
17. Nearly all 30 of my responders answered that the image of the front
cover from my regional magazine should appear on my billboard
poster.
This only makes sense as the whole purpose of my billboard poster is to
advertise and promote briefly the existence of my regional magazine
product – the audience won’t immediately recognise what the
billboard is advertising if the product being promoted isn’t found on the
poster (remember, drivers only have a quick glance at the billboard).
I think I will make the size of the image of the front cover large, so my
target audience won’t have to squint or waste time thinking about
what the poster is advertising in the first place, when observing the
billboard – I want my older audience to be able to read/observe the
billboard from a fair distance away, therefore, I cannot make any of
the conventions on my billboard too small (except the contact
information I might edit in a small size font as this is what most existing
billboards conventionally portray).
8) Should an image of the front cover
from my regional magazine appear on
the billboard poster?
18. 9) Should the price of the regional
magazine appear on the billboard
advertisement?
Yes
No
• Highest Number of
Results: No
• Least Number of
Results: Yes
19. Nearly ¾ of my target audience answered that the price
shouldn’t appear on my potential billboard poster.
I think I agree with my primary audience because it might be
best not to portray the price on my billboard as it may put off
the audience from contacting or becoming anymore
interested with my magazine product at all – however, this
might not affect the older A/B income bracket audience,
who have enough money to spend (on the other hand, the
stereotype of Yorkshire people is that they tend to be quite
tight/careful with their money).
Additionally, many existing billboard posters don’t convey
the price of the product clearly anyway – the audience can
find out more information about the product through the
form of contact presented.
9) Should the price of the regional
magazine appear on the billboard
advertisement?
20. 10) Which favourite style of font would
you most preferably like to see on a
billboard poster promoting a regional
magazine? (a) Yorkshire Life
(b) seattle
(c) charleston
(d) northern
(e) Sunset
(f) cumbrialife
• Highest Number of
Results: Yorkshire Life
• Least Number of
Results: seattle (and)
Sunset
21. A large majority of my responders have answered
that they prefer the style of font of ‘Yorkshire Life’
(existing magazine).
I also personally prefer the style of font of ‘Yorkshire
Life’, as its ‘Times New Roman’ sharp but bold and
large style of font connotes the sophistication of
the nature of my regional magazine –
conventionally, most regional magazines tend to
have a simple but bold style of font (in only one
colour; primarily white contrasting against a darker
background such as the blue sky).
