3. CONVENTIONS
This Digipak follows the common
conventions of album covers. It includes:
An image of the band on the front.
Band name name.
Barcode on the back.
Track list on the back.
Using a theme.
Name of the album on the front.
4. IMAGE
FRONT COVER BACK COVER
• The boys are climbing on a phone
box, this makes them look mischievous
and fun. This could represent the pop
music they have produced for their
audience.
•The band look like they are having a
good time, I.e; smiling. This could
represent that when you listen to the
music you feel happy. This will
encourage the audience it’s feel good
pop music.
•The bright sky and outdoor scenery
creates a summery, happy atmosphere.
This will give a positive impact on the
audience.
• The back cover doesn’t have any
images on but it has a childlike school
theme. I.e; stars, staples and paper.
This could represent that the target
audience is for younger people like
children or teenagers as its relatable to
them.
For my own digipak I could similar features, for example an image of my
group smiling in action. It will make the image more realistic.
5. MIS-EN-SCENE: CLOTHING
On the front cover One
Direction are wearing
‘popular fashion’. I.e
Bow ties, hats and
chinos. The use of mis-
en-scene represents
youth culture.
The clothing is worn in
everyday life by males,
this depicts that the
band are normal people.
This makes them
relatable to there target
audience.
The clothing mis-en-scene
used in my digipak will
include my group wearing
popular clothing. This I will
make it relatable to our
target audience
6. COLOUR
The Digipak has colours that are bright
and stand out. Blue, green and red.
Bright colours imply fun, they represent
the pop genre effectively. They will draw
in the audience as it will make the cover
stand out amongst others.
The running theme of the Digipak is red
and white as its in the logo which is
located and on the front and back cover.
For my digipak I could use bright colours in
order for it to stand out. Also it will represent
the pop genre as well as my music video
7. WORDING
‘One Direction’ is in bold font. I think this has
been used as they are popular and it will
attract the target audience.
The title ‘TAKE ME HOME’ could imply that
they travel a lot but there is ‘no place like
home’. This could be represented as they
use a British theme on the front cover.
They use British stereotypes; red telephone
boxes and preppy style clothing.
I like the idea of using the band name in large font as it clearly depicts
the artist name. I would like to use this within my own Digipak as it think
its important as its one of the features that will draw in the target
8. FONT
‘ONE DIRECTION’ ‘TAKE ME HOME’
•This font is written in a handwritten
style.
• It looks carefree and fun which can
appeal to the appeal to target audience.
•Audience of young children and
teenagers
• The font is in block capital, this makes
it look more like serious statement.
This could represent how they want to
be taken for there music.
• This depicts that they can be mature,
which will appeal to a wider audience.
I like how the Digipak has a font that corresponds to
the bands target audience. For my own Digipak I
would like to use this as inspiration in order to appeal
to my target audience.
9. LAYOUT
The front cover has a summery background
(trees and skyline) and the band have been
placed in front to depict that they are the main
focus.
To draw the attention of the audience they have
used a bright red phone box. The red also
meshes with the red and white theme from the
logo.
The type is bold and centrally aligned at the top
of the cover. This clearly shows the audience
who’s CD it is.
