At John Paul Academy in 2009-10 all of our  Sixth Year pupils signed up for the Millennium Awards scheme. This is a national scheme which promotes and recognises goodness and service, key components of Christian Leadership.
At John Paul Academy in 2010-11  all of our Sixth Year pupils  who successfully complete  our Leadership Course  will receive their Leadership NQ  at Higher Level.
In addition in 2010-11  we are offering  a new 160 hour  Higher Personal Development
This will mean that you will  be able to complete brilliant  UCAS forms and job applications  at least on a par with pupils  from any other school
We will explicitly teach S6 pupils about leadership,  constantly remind you  that you are and will be leaders,  introduce you to leaders,  set up leadership experiences  and invite you to reflect on and learn from these. How ?
Leadership is the key… But what sort of leadership?
Christian leadership is  not  about dominating others
It’s about  leading  a good life
Christian leadership is a bout making the most of our talents and gifts and putting them at the service of others

Educate Meaning ‘ to lead , draw out’ The etymological meaning of the word "education“ means to "draw out" (from the Latin "educere")...to lead, to draw out that which is within; i.e. to bring to light what is hidden, to render actual what is only potential, to develop. It also means to draw out of conditions that limit - in other words, it is the favouring  of a process of growth.

In tune with Leadership for Learning A number of other curriculum initiatives can be clearly aligned to developing the leadership of learners, but might not normally be considered in this way. For instance, initiatives linked to the citizenship agenda such as  volunteering, involving young people in organising and running conferences or workshops,  charity work or buddying  can all be seen as part of leadership development.   • 6. There are exciting new developments
  • 7. At John Paul Academy in 2009-10 all of our Sixth Year pupils signed up for the Millennium Awards scheme. This is a national scheme which promotes and recognises goodness and service, key components of Christian Leadership.
  • 8. At John Paul Academy in 2010-11 all of our Sixth Year pupils who successfully complete our Leadership Course will receive their Leadership NQ at Higher Level.
  • 9. In addition in 2010-11 we are offering a new 160 hour Higher Personal Development
  • 10. This will mean that you will be able to complete brilliant UCAS forms and job applications at least on a par with pupils from any other school
  • 11. We will explicitly teach S6 pupils about leadership, constantly remind you that you are and will be leaders, introduce you to leaders, set up leadership experiences and invite you to reflect on and learn from these. How ?

For instance, initiatives linked to the citizenship agenda such as volunteering, involving young people in organising and running conferences or workshops, charity work or buddying can all be seen as part of leadership development.
