I. OPENING PRAYER
Lord, we thank You for the gifts You have bestowed on
us, especially for the gift of life and the love of our
family and friends. Help us to know ourselves better as
we pray and study so that we can make crucial decisions
in our life. Help us see and understand the path You
have paved for us. Help us choose the kind of life
responsive to our potential and to Your love for us. If
you invite us to follow You as a priest, as a brother, as a
sister, give us a generous heart to respond to Your
challenging call and give us the strength to follow You
wherever You lead us. Amen.
II. GOSPEL READING:
Luke 10:1-9
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others whom he
sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit.
He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so
ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on
your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry
no money, bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way.
Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a
peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it
will return to you. Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is
offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move
about from one house to another. Whatever town you enter and they
welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to
them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’”
VOCATION 101
What is
VOCATION?
Vocation is an occupation for
which one is suited, trained, or
qualified.
which gains its meaning from it’s Latin
origin “vocare,” that is “to call.”
VOCATION?
(PANAWAGAN)
The call…
It’s for you
The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest to send out
laborers for his harvest
Luke.10:2
TO SERVE
For the call to Serve God
through the People
But when the choice is freely accepted or
answered , I believe, God’s grace is given to
enable the one accepting the vocation to fulfill
it, no matter how many
earlier reservations or
hesitations there might
have been.
“Vocation” comes from the Latin word
“vocare,” meaning “to call.” Vocation is a
call that needs a response.
Ang bokasyon isa ka pagtawag nga
nagakinahanglan sang pagsabat.
The call of
The Lord
always
demands a
response
from us.
Elements of Vocation
Every vocation has, in its origin, three essential elements:
God, the Person who is called, and the people.
1. God is the one who calls.
(Ang Dios amo ang nagatawag.)
2. We are free to accept or to refuse (RESPONSE). It is a
choice made by the person. (Kita hilway nga nagasabat
sang pagtawag.)
3. The goal of vocation is people through SERVICE. Every
vocation is given in order to serve people. (Ini isa ka
pagtawag sa pag-alagad.)
TOPIC 2: What are the States of Life?
The common states of life that a person chooses
are:
1. Religious/Priestly/Consecrated life
(Pagkarelihiyoso or relihiyosa—misyonero, monghe o mongha,
madre).
2. Marriage (Pag-asawa).
3. Single-blessedness (Pagkalaon).
What is a
SEMINARY?
To the ancient Romans a “SEMINARIUM” was
a nursery for growing plants from seeds (Latin
“semen-inis” meaning “seed”).
Adopted by the Church to name the
training school that prepares men for the
priesthood, a seminary indeed is a fertile
ground where priestly vocations are being
grown and are nourished with utmost
care and constant attention.
Ang seminaryo isa ka talamnan sang mga
binhi (seeds) sang pagkapari kon sa diin
kinahanglan ini magtubo kag magpamunga.
Ang tanan nga mga pamatan-on nga lalaki
nga nagasulod sa seminaryo ginaporma agod
magpari. Gani ang isa ka seminarista
ginatawag nga manugpari.
A seminarian is formed to become a
priest in the seminary (SEMINARY
FORMATION). Ang isa ka seminarista
kinahanglan nga maporma sa
pagkapari sa seminaryo.
