1. Evaluation Question 4How did you use new technologies in
the construction, research, planning
and evaluation stages?
2. Our Blog• We decided to use Tumblr for our blog as this is a very popular
blog for out target audience for our video and we have used it
previously with our own private blogs.
• Tumblr is easy to use and so we thought that we could do more
with it than other alternatives that we may not have used
before.
• We used the technology on Tumblr to make our blog look
attractive and professional with easy to read font. This meant
that we could easily post and each post will follow a theme.
• There were some options on Tumblr that I found out we could
use on our blog that I didn’t know previously for example;
linking text to an external website or uploading presentations
such as my Prezis.
3. Our Computer• For our computer we used an Apple Mac as this
computer has more advanced operating system than
Windows.
• The system is similar to Windows but easier to use
once you know how.
• As I was so used to using Windows this new system
was hard to adapt to but I now know how to use it and
the shortcuts I find a lot easier than on the Windows
operating system.
• It allowed us to complete tasks and research quickly as
the computer was fast and efficient when doing our
work.
4. Research Technologies• When researching we used the Google search
engine as it is fast, consumer friendly and has very
good results when searching. I have used it
previously so was not a completely new technology.
• Another technology we used to research and for
uploading our own work (videos) is YouTube.
• This website is very easy to use and as I didn’t
previously have an account I didn’t know that you
could add annotations to videos or effects after it
was uploaded so this was new to me.
5. Camera• The camera that we used was really small to what
I thought originally when starting my A Levels.
• I had first used one last year so when doing this
coursework it was not new. I already knew how
to use the camera but this year we used it more
effectively as we were already familiar with it.
• For example, we used soft focus to unfocus and
focus on the abstract type shots which I hadn’t
used before.
6. Social Networks• I have of course used social networks before
such as Facebook and Twitter.
• However, on Facebook we contacted each
other to arrange when to shoot and what
work we need to do etc… When I usually use it
for social reasons rather than coursework.
• This is similar with Twitter which we used to
contact the artist to ask their permission to
use their track.
7. Video Editing Software• Adobe Premiere Pro is the software we used to edit our music
video.
• This was a completely new technology to me so I had to
research how to use it as well as having a tutorial at the start of
the year.
• Once I knew how to use it, it was a lot easier than I expected.
• The most useful tool would have been the Razor tool as this
allowed me as the Editor to cut a clip midway and still have both
sections so I could use all the clip but in different parts.
• I also changed the lighting on some of the darker clips so that
the artist could be seem more clearly. I had to research how to
do this as again I hadn’t used this software previously.
8. Ancillary Editing Software• For editing the Digipak and Magazine Advert
Photoshop was used.
• Personally, I hadn’t used Photoshop before but
Tatjana in our group had and uses it quite often.
• This was an advantage to the group as she taught
us how to use it and talked us through how to do
something that we wanted for example putting a
filter over an image.
• It was really helpful and has taught me how to
use this software so will continue to use it.
