August 11 Please attend one of the following:
● Round-Up - Informational Meetings in Room C11 (9AM & 1:30PM)
● 6th Grade and New Student Orientation - Informational (6PM)
August 18 ALL 1:WEB FORMS DUE - Submit to advisory teacher or main office
August 19 Distribution of Chromebooks to 8th Graders
August 20 Distribution of Chromebooks to 7th Graders
August 21 Distribution of Chromebooks to 6th Graders
7. What is a Chromebook?
Chromebooks are easy to use,
Internet-dependent devices. Most
applications and documents are
stored on Google Drive or a “cloud”.

8. Distribution of Chromebooks
● Parents and Students should read and understand the
information provided in the 1:WEB Handbook
● Submission of Forms - Students must submit the following
signed forms prior to receiving their district issued device:
○ Device User Agreements
○ 1:Web Device Insurance Contract *
○ Digital Citizenship Contract
Failing to submit the required forms, will not be assigned a
Chromebook to take home.
9. Caring for Devices
● Students are responsible for the general care of
the devices.
○ sharing of devices is discouraged
○ each device has its own bar code
● Students will report any damage to their device
to Ms. Perry in the Resource Center.
● Device cases/covers are recommended.
10. Using Devices at School
● Students are required to bring their device to
school, everyday, fully charged
○ Failing to bring device to school may result in
disciplinary action
● Students can pick-up a loaner device with Ms.
Perry in the Resource Center
○ Students must return loaners by 3:30PM
● Lost or stolen devices must be immediately
reported to the discipline office (egallegos)
11. Chromebooks Outside of School
Students are encouraged to use their Chromebooks at
home and other locations outside of school.
● A WiFi Internet connection will be required for the majority of
Chromebook use, however there are some applications that can be
used while offline and not connected to the Internet.
● Creekside provides online WiFi access to students from 7AM to
4PM. (C11, Library, center of campus, etc.)
12. Content Filter
● While connected to PJUSD’s Wi-Fi, Chromebooks will have all
internet activity protected and may be monitored by the district.
○ No expectation of privacy
● Parents please be aware: The internet content filter provided at
school’s district network does not transfer with device on any off
campus network.

13. Insurance Information
● PJUSD offers an optional 1:WEB Device Insurance Contract for the
issued Chromebooks.
● Refer to the 1:Web Device Insurance Contract for insurance options or
visit www.gocare.com/patterson for additional information.
○ $45.97 per year per device, with $25 deductible

The following are estimated costs of Chromebook parts & replacements:
Replacement $300 Keyboard/Touchpad $80
Screen $100 Power cord $50
14. Opting-Out of Device Program
It is PJUSD’s recommendation that each student use district issued
devices. Parents may opt out of district issued device only if:
● parents/guardian provides a compatible district issued device (tablets and
smartphones are not comparable devices)
● student must be proficient in the use of their own device (technical support will
not be available for non district issued devices)
● students must bring their compatible device to school daily and fully charged.
● it is recommended that a student’s compatible device have Google Chrome
installed as its primary browser.
15. Student/Family Responsibility
● Student will need to bring the device to school
daily → FULLY CHARGED!
● Safely and responsibly care for assigned device,
including charger
○ Student/Family Responsible for cost for the
device/repairs
○ Insurance available
● Responsible digital citizen
16. Low-Cost Internet Access
● Comcast Internet Essentials Program
○ $9.95/month
○ Available for students who are eligible to participate in
the National School Lunch Program
