Editor's Notes

  1. Welcome to AHS Chromebook Orientation. We request your attention to this short presentation to discuss some basic information about the Chromebook being issued to your student this year.
  2. A Chromebook is a mobile computing device similar to a laptop. It has a full keyboard for typing and has the ability to be used with or without internet connectivity. Chromebooks use cloud storage which means information is accessible not only from the Chromebook, but also from any device with internet connectivity.
  3. The following forms need to be completed before the student receives their Chromebook - AUP(Acceptable Use Policy) and Student Pledge for Computer Use. A $60 technology fee is also required before the student is allowed to take their Chromebook home. This fee covers the accidental insurance policy the school holds on each Chromebook. Upon completion of these items the student will receive their Chromebook, charger, and case.
  4. It is the student’s responsibility to use good judgement in the use and care of their Chromebook. Students are expected to ….(read each of the bullet points above)
  5. Chromebooks are registered under the Alliance Public Schools domain. This means that students can only login and use their device with their apschools.org account. As stated, the Chromebook can be used with or without internet access. If students complete work while not connected to the internet that work will be synced to their account in the cloud the next time they are connected to the internet.
  6. If students are found to be in violation of the district’s technology policies the following consequences may occur. (Read list from above.)
  7. Some frequently asked questions….(Read and answer the questions above.)
  8. After watching this presentation be sure to read, print, and sign the forms needed for the checkout process. You will need to print only the signature page of the AUP and Student Pledge for Computer Use.
