2. Conventions..
• Must be eye catching in order to captivate the audience
• Central point that will draw in the audiences eye
• The title needs to be displayed in a large and bold font
• Needs to clearly show the films genre
• Should be designed to attract the correct target audience
• Tells you the films release date, although some are less specific and may just
state ‘coming soon’ or ‘in cinemas this summer’
• Directors and production company usually is displayed somewhere on the
poster
• Sometimes there may be some reviews or the names of the other films that
the company has made, this is a good selling point as if the film was a success
then this will often intrigue people more and make them want to watch it.
3. Unique selling
point
The unique selling point in each poster is something that makes it different than every other
film. Whether it is the plot, stars, themes, setting or characters.
For example the film could have very famous actors in it which will attract more attention as
people are more likely to watch a film with actors in it which they have watched in lots of
films before and have enjoyed, rather than films that don’t have any actors in that they are
familiar with.
The plot should be unique and interesting as audiences wont be attracted to a film if they
have seen something similar before.
These factors should be exposed heavily in the posters as this is their unique selling point,
and will entice a wider audience.
4. Names of main actors in the
film.
Tagline ‘what would you do
with a letter that changed
everything’ that gives away that
the film is a romance
Clearly states that the author of the
notebook wrote this story line. This is
a selling point as The Notebook was
very successful therefore this will
attract the audience who liked The
Notebook.
The main image that covers the
whole poster that focuses on the
couple again suggests to us that this
is a romance, and gives us an
insight of the characters in the film
‘FEBRUARY’ is in white writing so
that it will stand out to make the
audience clear of when the film will
be released.
