a) Listen and respond appropriately in formal and informal situations for a variety of
purposes.

(5 minutes) Some possible questions that will be ask:
 How you ever get invitations?
 What kind invitations do you get?
 What do you say to accept or decline an
invitation?
1. Teacher asks pupils about
invitations.
2. Introduce the topic to the pupils.
3. Asks the pupils to open their texts
book.
Materials:

(5 minutes) 1. Accepting and declining an invitation. 1. Teacher explains to the pupils
about accepting and declining an
invitation through the LCD screen.
2. Teacher also may explain some
difficult words to the pupils during
the explanations.

Practice
(10 minutes) 1. Conversation activity 1. Teacher divides the pupils into pairs.
2. Teacher shows an example of
conversation texts through the LCD
screen.
3. Teacher asks the pupils to read the
texts at the screen.
4. Teacher explains the texts and the
activity to the pupils
5. Teacher asks the pupils to make their
own conversation with their pairs
based on the texts given.
6. Teacher gives 2 minutes for all the
pupils to make and practice their
conversation.
7. Teacher will call out random pairs to
perform their conversation at the front.

Answering the worksheet. 1. Teacher spread the worksheet to
the pupils.
2. Teacher explains the worksheet to
the pupils.
3. Teacher monitors and guide pupils

Closure
(5 minutes) Conclusion 1. Teacher revises on what the pupils
had learnt today.

English Year 4 Lesson Plan Date : 21 July 2017 Subject : English Language Class : 4 Arif Day : Monday Time : 10.45am – 11.15am Enrolment : 29 students Level : Moderate Language Proficiency Theme : World of Knowledge Topic : Unity in Diversity Focused skill : Listening & Speaking Integrated skill : Reading, Writing
  • 2. ‘ Learning standards : 1.2.1 Able to participate in daily conversations: (a) accept an invitation. (b) decline an invitation Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to a) Listen and respond appropriately in formal and informal situations for a variety of purposes. b) Understand and respond to oral texts in a variety of contexts. Educational emphases : CCTS - answering Wh-Questions Moral values - we must always be polite to accepting or declining someone’s invitation. - work in pairs as a team to achieve goals. Multiple intelligences - Interpersonal intelligence, linguistic intelligence Language content : Vocabulary - Description of accepting and declining an invitation. Steps/ Time Content Teaching and Learning Strategies Remarks Set induction (5 minutes) Some possible questions that will be ask:  How you ever get invitations?  What kind invitations do you get?  What do you say to accept or decline an invitation? 1. Teacher asks pupils about invitations. 2. Introduce the topic to the pupils. 3. Asks the pupils to open their texts book. Materials:  Texts book
  • 3. Presentation (5 minutes) 1. Accepting and declining an invitation. 1. Teacher explains to the pupils about accepting and declining an invitation through the LCD screen. 2. Teacher also may explain some difficult words to the pupils during the explanations. Materials: 1. LCD screen Refer to the texts book page 95. Refer to Appendix A Practice (10 minutes) 1. Conversation activity 1. Teacher divides the pupils into pairs. 2. Teacher shows an example of conversation texts through the LCD screen. 3. Teacher asks the pupils to read the texts at the screen. 4. Teacher explains the texts and the activity to the pupils 5. Teacher asks the pupils to make their own conversation with their pairs based on the texts given. 6. Teacher gives 2 minutes for all the pupils to make and practice their conversation. 7. Teacher will call out random pairs to perform their conversation at the front. Material: 1. LCD screen Refer to Appendix B Production (5 minutes) Answering the worksheet. 1. Teacher spread the worksheet to the pupils. 2. Teacher explains the worksheet to the pupils. 3. Teacher monitors and guide pupils Material: 1. worksheet Shown in Appendix C
