•LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND
INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT
Leadership Training and Integrated Development (LTID) is a
community based organization registered with the Ministry of
Labor, Social security and services. LTID has been operating in
Kenya since 1975 as one of the community development
programmes under the Institute of Cultural Affairs Kenya (ICA-
K). In January, 2011 LTID became autonomous from the
Institute of Cultural Affairs Kenya. The Headquarters of LTID are
in Masii town in Mwala Sub-county in Machakos County. LTID is
part of Global Network of other 47 ICAs across the world. LTID
exist to support marginalized rural and urban communities by
improving their standards of living, equipping local residents
with needed skills, creating awareness on community issues of
concern, establishing environment conducive to human
development and collaborating with stakeholders and other
development players for efficient service delivery to target
populations.

2. THE ORGANIZATION’S VISIONs
LTID envisages communities that are empowered
socially, economically and politically without gender,
tribal, religious or cultural biasness.
THE MISSION
LTID Exist to improve the living standards of marginalized
communities through empowering, trainings, facilitation
and provision of necessary skills, Knowledge, tools,
equipment and materials necessary for positive change.

4. 1.WATER
LTID has helped Ngomano Community
reduce the distance to water points for
180 households from 5kms to 2kms by
construction of sub surface dams which
serves as a great water reservoir to
Ngomano Community.

5. 2.FOOD SECURITY:
LTID has improved access to food for
Ngomano Location from one meal per
day to three meals throughout the
year. This has been achieved by
trainings offered to the community
on dry land farming methods,
provision of drought tolerant food
crop seeds,farmers have been
involved in improved poultry rearing
and improved goat rearing.

6. 3.HIV and AIDS.
LTID has been offering HIV and
AIDS prevention education training
to Ngomano Community. In
addition LTID facilitates access to
Voluntary Counseling and Testing
Services through mobile VCTs.
Those people living with HIV have
been trained on Positive self
management and are taking
charge of their health by living
positively.

7. 4.SELF HELP GROUPS.
Village savings and Loaning
Association (VSLA) through self
help groups in each village has
given the women voice and
power to manage their saving
by LTID. All the household basic
needs are catered for at the self-
help group level.30 self help
groups have been established in
Ngomano Location.

8. LTID distributes 30 male
goats to 15groups in
Ngomano Location. The
goats are meant for Local
goats upgrading.
LTID distributes Ken brow
chicken to Ngomano
Community.

9. Positive self management programme
People living with HIV and AIDS need
much love and care. The high levels of
stigmatization in marginalized
communities hinders many from
accessing medication due to fear of
being rejected.It is for this reason that
Leadership Training and Integrated
Development takes the initiative to
empower people living with HIV by
equipping them with positive Self –
management skills so that they live
comfortably and positively

10. FUTURE PLANS
Leadership Training and Integrated Development has
several strategic future plans.
1. Mobilize more groups from 30 to 60 groups.
2. Mobilize 4 youth groups into the Self Help Groups.
3.Construction of 10 subsurface dams.
4.Train 600 people on HIV and AIDS prevention Education.
5. Facilitate VCT for 1,500 people
6. Train 100 people living with HIV on PSMP
7.Train 600 people on sustainable dry land farming.
8. Provide drought tolerant food crop seeds to 600 farmers
