3. Our history
This is the story of a heart-felt passion for vine cultivation. This is
the result of the constant daily effort and dedication of people
who have firmly believed in their work for over 50 years. Thanks
to the initiative of 19 farmers, Colonnara was founded in
Cupramontana in 1959. The ideal microclimate of the sweet hills
of the Marches region lead to the cultivation of Verdicchio,
which has become the pride of this territory over the centuries.
This company has grown over time. Today it has
over 100 associates and thanks to the use of innovative
technology and the practice of environmentally friendly farming,
it has managed to develop a production range that may be
singled out among high quality wines, which are distributed over
the entire national and foreign territory. Colonnara has not
forgotten its roots, its link to farming traditions. Around here
they say wine is made in the vineyard, it is only educated in the
cellar and then “presented’ in the best possible way in the
bottle.

5. Our mission
Noble wines are not produced by chance, they are always
the result of a perfect combination of ideas and values
that identify the company’s mission:
· To make the most of the wines of our area and our
territory, which are characterized by the peculiarities that
make them unique;
· Costant research on the utmost quality of the wines,
beginning from a harmonious integration of the
characteristics of the territory and a series of rigorous
choices, such as the absolute respect for the natural
equilibrium during vine cultivation and the application of
traditional vinifcation systems as a guarantee of the 100%
genuine nature of the product.

9. Our territory
It is in the heart of this region, in the province of Ancona, in
Cupramontanta, that we find Colonnara, a company that has been
interpreting and expressing the essence of this territory for over forty
years. Situated in the hills of the Castelli di Jesi, where the “Verdicchio”
wine has been cultivated in an ideal habitat for centuries now,
producing a wine that is unobtainable elsewhere. The vine growing and
wine producing tradition of Cupramontana is thousands of years old.
The precious visual testimony of this is the cornucopia containing
bunches of grapes which is held up by a winged putto, a fragment of a
bigger marble decoration dating back to Roman times, which once
decorated the home of some patrician from the ancient Cupramontana.
Benedictine monks taught the people again about agricultural
cultivation and in particular about the vine. Then the monks were
dispersed but their “teaching” conquered growing spaces and the vine
growing and wine producing sector progressively affirmed its
importance making Cupramontana a land that “is full of vines that
produce exquisite wines in abundance”

11. The Colonnara vineyards are situated in the oldest Verdicchio grape
production area.
The microclimate, which varies from area to area along with the
different altitudes of the vineyards, which range from 350 to 650
metres above sea level, and the distinct composition of the soil, all
represent aspects of the company patrimony, which are unrepeatable
in any other zone.
It is thanks to this patrimony that Colonnara manages to produce
sparkling wines, fresh young wines and more full-bodied and noble
wines for ageing from the autochthonous Verdicchio grape.
The Colonnara wines, the vineyards of which are situated on the right
hand of the Esino River, are mostly influenced by the proximity of the
Apennines.
Colonnara wines are the result of a perfect blend of various different
elements: the territory, the microclimate and the workmanship. Its
four ranges of wine: Nobili, Classici , Contemporanei and Autoctoni –
represent the ideal “stages” in a “journey” towards pleasure.
