• A unifying concept that brought together
human and animal health care practitioners
and environmental professionals with a goal
that this partnership will help and develop
sustainable and effective interventions in
solving human, animal and environmental
health challenges.

Of all the animal health programs in the
Philippines, the One Health approach is very
much evident in the implementation of the
National Rabies Prevention and Control
Program through the enactment of Republic
Act 9482 or the “Anti Rabies Act of 2007.”

areas for the control and prevention
of zoonotic diseases.
22. Conclusion
• The One Health approach requires building
relationships with and respect for
professionals in various sectors
• One Health is synergism: When we
cooperate with one another we produce a
combined effect greater than the sum of
our independent effects.
Stage 1 when the country status is Avian influenza-free;
Stage 2 when Avian influenza is detected in domestic fowls in the Philippines;
Stage 3 when there is confirmation of avian influenza transmission from poultry to humans in the Philippines; and
Stage 4 when human-to-human transmission of Avian Influenza has occurred in the country.
