2. Arteries The arteries are a blood vessel. They have thick, elastic, muscular walls that carry blood under high blood pressure away from the heart. Arteries carry blood away from the heart to the rest of the body.
3. Veins Another type of blood vessels are veins. A vein has a thinner wall and valves that prevent the blood from flowing backwards. Veins carry blood from the rest of the body to the heart.
4. Capillaries Capillaries are very important blood vessels because they carry ,materials such as oxygen and nutrients to the cells and remove waste i.e. carbon dioxide.
5. Heart The heart is a strong muscular organ that acts like a pimp for the circulatory system.
6. Blood Blood is composed of plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Each one has a job to do around the body.
