Use “there is” to state facts about a person or thing.
For example:
There is a general store at the end of the street.
Use ”there are” to talk about people or things.
There are three students in the classroom.
Be careful! Don’t confuse “there are” and “they are”.
There are two good restaurants in town.
They are at the restaurant.
